Kelly Clarkson Sings Hozier’s ‘Too Sweet’ on Kellyoke: Watch

Kelly Clarkson is back with another Kellyoke cover, and it’s a sweet one. Taking the Kelly Clarkson Show stage on Tuesday (Jan. 7), the vocalist performed Hozier‘s smash “Too Sweet” for her live audience in New York City. Surrounded by members of her in-house band and dressed in all-black, Clarkson’s famous powerhouse vocals gave the soft-rock track an extra kick. “I think I’ll take my whiskey neat/ My coffee black and my bed at 3,” she sang. “You’re too sweet for me.” Released in March on the Irish singer/songwriter’s EP Unheard, “Too Sweet” became Hozier’s first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when the track ascended to the top of the chart in April last year. His previous peak on the chart had been at No. 2 in 2014 with “Take Me to Church.” “It kind of just put wind in the sails of a ship that was already sort of moving,” he recently told Billboard of the 2024 track’s success. “It was just like this thing that happened, and it’s been like a cherry on the cake.” Clarkson’s cover marks just her second Kellyoke performance of the new year on YouTube, with the star also nailing St. Lucia’s “Dancing on Glass” during the Jan. 6 episode of the American Idol champion’s talk show. The “Since U Been Gone” singer added yet another Daytime Emmy to her belt in 2024, with The Kelly Clarkson Show taking home outstanding daytime talk series for the fourth consecutive year at the June ceremony. Ice Cube Salutes Tyler, The Creator’s Creativity

Ice Cube is a big fan of fellow Cali native Tyler, The Creator and how he’s able to be himself while also pushing the envelope creatively. In a recent sitdown interview with HipHopDX, the rapper and filmmaker gave the Odd Future founder some high praise by comparing him to a couple influential West Coast groups. “That’s L.A. That’s the L.A. people don’t know about — ultra creative individuals who won’t conform to the culture of gangbanging. They’re going to be themselves,” he said when asked about his thoughts on the Hawthorne, California rapper. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news Adding, “He reminds me of, like, The Pharycde. Here’s another: The Black Eyed Peas come from here. You’re going to always have those groups who are going to stay down with their own style and their own flavor, and going to win with it. Because they’re not conforming, they’re not being what you want them to be; they’re being who they are. And you gotta salute that.” For what it’s worth, before 2024 ended, Tyler dropped off a freestyle to Kendrick‘s song “Hey Now” entitled “That Guy” in which he pays homage to Southern Cali street culture with various dances and the cadence he raps in. Cube recently released his 11th solo album Man Down and is in the process of starring in and producing the fourth installment of his Friday film franchise. Maybe he can find a role for Tyler and the rest of the Loiter Squad, especially Earl Sweatshirt as Brad Pitt. You can watch the full interview below. Source link

LiAngelo Ball’s ‘Tweaker’ Explained

G3’s viral anthem has taken over sports teams’ locker rooms, racked up millions of views and notched him a slot at Rolling Loud California. LiAngelo Ball attends GBK Pre-ESPY Luxury Lounge presented by MEND on July 10, 2024 in Los Angeles. Tiffany Rose/Getty Images for GBK Brand Bar When your two brothers are NBA stars, it can be tough to live up to the family name. The middle child of the Ball brothers, LiAngelo has been trying to find his footing professionally in hoops since going undrafted by the NBA in 2018 after withdrawing from UCLA. 2025 had a different plan for LiAngelo as it was the recording studio and not the basketball court that helped his profile explode over the weekend. Gelo — who also raps under the alias G3 — released his “Tweaker” track on Friday (Jan. 3) via Born to Ball Music Group, which set social media ablaze, infiltrated sports teams’ locker rooms and took the rap world by storm with co-signs from Lil Yachty to T-Pain. Fans felt the track was oozing with mid-2000s vibes so “Tweaker” fittingly made a nostalgic debut on WorldStarHipHop where it boasts nearly four million views. The 26-year-old’s momentum even earned him a slot to perform at Rolling Loud California 2025 in March. There appears to be more heat on the way as another snippet has hit social media. LiAngelo isn’t the only one of LaVar’s sons to pick up a mic as brother Lonzo, who currently plays for the Chicago Bulls, has released a pair of albums in the past. It’s a special time for the Ball family with youngest brother LaMelo, Charlotte Hornets point guard, currently leads the Eastern Conference in fan voting ahead of the 2025 NBA All-Star Game in February. Learn more about LiAngelo Ball and his Kunica-produced “Tweaker” breakout hit below. Lil Yachty, Meek Mill & T-Pain Co-Signs “Tweaker” and its catchy “I might swerve, bend that corner, woah-oah” bars are even earning the respect of G3’s peers. Lil Yachty posted a TikTok dancing to the track in a 2000s-coded outfit and T-Pain quoted Ball’s lyrics with a photo from the mid-2000s on X. “Real hiphop 2025,” Lil Boat wrote. The Ball Family As the patriarch of the Ball family, LaVar set the bar high and the spotlight shining on his family as he seemingly never met a microphone he didn’t like. LaVar, who had a brief NFL stint with the New York Jets, and wife Tina gave birth to three boys — Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo. The family settled in Chino Hills, California, and LaVar promised his kids would all eventually play in the NBA together. While the Big Baller Brand CEO fell a tad short of his goal, Lonzo (27 years old) has battled back from knee injuries and has made over $100 million in the league as a current Chicago Bull and youngest brother LaMelo (23 years old) is averaging just under 30 points per game suiting up for the Charlotte Hornets. https://www.instagram.com/p/Biu6XDKAcBK Sports Teams Embracing ‘Tweaker’ As Locker Room Anthem “Tweaker” has quickly become a braggadocios anthem for sports teams to vibe with. Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell gave LiAngelo Ball a shout-out during his postgame interview as teammates bumped G3’s track. It’s not only for hoops players as the Detroit Lions celebrated winning the NFC North division title on Sunday (Jan. 5) by dancing to “Tweaker” in the locker room. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown got his teammates involved in the singalong too. NBA Aspirations Gelo had NBA aspirations like his brothers. After playing four years at Chino Hills High School, Ball emerged as a three-star recruit and followed in Lonzo’s footsteps at UCLA. Per The New York Times, LiAngelo was suspended alongside two teammates for allegedly shoplifting during a team trip to China in 2017. Ball quickly withdrew from UCLA without ever playing in a game. He went undrafted by the NBA a year later in 2018 and began his journey by playing overseas in Prienai, Lithuania. Following a stint in the Junior Basketball Association, Ball played a pair of seasons as part of the Hornets’ G-League team, the Swarm, in 2022 and 2023 before heading to Mexico where he suited up for the Astros de Jalisco. Lonzo Ball Clarifies His Co-Writing Credit Lonzo Ball wants to keep the spotlight on LiAngelo. While Lonzo is reportedly credited as a co-writer of “Tweaker,” he just wants credit for the distorted neighborhood cover art. The Bulls guard also dubbed 2025 to be the #YearofG.” The Chicago Bulls turned up to “Tweaker” in the locker room following a comeback victory against the New York Knicks over the weekend and the footage quickly went viral of Lonzo grinning ear-to-ear rapping his brother’s bars. Rolling Loud California 2025 Rolling Loud prides itself on bringing emerging hip-hop acts from your headphones to the stage and they didn’t waste any time inviting Gelo to the party. With “Tweaker” serving as the first major rap moment of 2025, G3 earned a slot to perform at Rolling Loud California on March 15 where he’ll have fans collectively swerving and bending that corner. Although he doesn’t have any projects out just yet, hopefully, there’s more music to perform come March. https://www.instagram.com/p/DEiKLxwyprz Weatherman Incorporates ‘Tweaker’ Into Snowstorm Report Even the weathermen are getting in on the trend. During a live hit showing the impact of a snowstorm, a WSAZ3 reporter explained that drivers may “swerve bend that corner” due to the slick conditions, which probably went over the heads of 99 percent of the viewers in Huntington, West Virginia. Moneybagg Yo Wants In On the Remix There’s been plenty of chatter about who’s going to be the first to freestyle over “Tweaker” or hop on the official remix. Moneybagg Yo threw his name into the mix when he showed interest with a tweet to Gelo on Tuesday (Jan. 7). “@LiAngeloBall send me da open verse ima tweak,” Big Speaker wrote. Did Lil Baby Dis Gunna on ‘WHAM’ Deluxe Track ‘Running This Sh–‘?

Fans are speculating that Lil Baby has accused his former collaborator Gunna of allegedly being a snitch once again. Baby recently released the deluxe version of his latest album WHAM, which includes four new songs: “99” featuring Future, “Idol,” “Running This Sh–” and “My Shawty.” “Running This Sh–” stands out from the bunch because the song includes a line about a certain someone still being “a rat,” and it has fans speculating that Lil Baby may be referring to Gunna. “I don’t care what he did, he a rat still/ And I said what I said, don’t at me,” he raps on the song’s second verse. Lil Baby has made no secret about how he feels about Gunna. He recently told Charlamagne Tha God that they don’t have a relationship anymore and Baby doesn’t see himself working with Gunna again. Gunna has had voices on his side, though. Young Thug’s dad has made multiple public statements in defense of the YSL signee, and the rapper’s lawyer Steve Sadow has as well. Most recently, responding to a Sportskeeda news article about a recent leaked Young Thug snippet in which he raps, “Never associate with a rat,” Sadow took to X to once again voice his thoughts on the matter. “I was Gunna’s attorney but I am NOT speaking on his behalf,” he began. “This long post is solely to set out the truth. Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to cause harm to Thug’s case… “ Adding, “Love the street rules and the dry-snitched comments. Oh. the fake outrage, same old sh–. Both were charged with RICO. Both faced 20 yrs in prison. Both pled to RICO. Regardless, I’m more than willing to accept the blame for the great deal.” You can cop the WHAM deluxe here, or you can wait for it to hit streaming on Friday. Billboard reached out to both Gunna’s team and his attorney Steve Sadow for comment. Source link

Lonzo Ball Says He Didn’t Help Write LiAngelo’s Viral Song ‘Tweaker’

By now, you’ve likely heard G3’s (aka LiAngelo Ball) viral anthem “Tweaker” — or at least a snippet of it. Fans on social media have taken a liking to the song because it sounds like something out of the early to mid 2000s, when hip-hop music videos often featured fitted hats, sports jerseys and spinning chrome rims. “Tweaker” also sounds like something you would hear on a video game soundtrack or a song that your favorite wrestler would use as entrance music and some have made memes to drive that point home. Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news Fans also noticed Gelo’s big brother, Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball, is credited as a songwriter. However, the elder Ball brother cleared that mistake up on X, saying that the only credit he should get is for the cover art. “Only credit I deserve is the cover art lol G really that,” he wrote on X. Lonzo has been hella supportive of his younger sibling’s career pivot from basketball player to rapper in recent days, even playing the song in the Bulls locker room last week while he danced and rapped along to the now viral sensation. “Tweaker” began going viral before it was properly released on streaming services Friday (Jan. 3), thanks to a clip of LiAngelo playing the song for streamer Neon. As of press time, the song has almost 4 million hits on WorldStarHipHop’s YouTube page, and Lonzo Ball is still credited as a songwriter on the Apple Music app. Source link
