Kiss’ ‘I Was Made for Lovin’ You’ Is No. 1 on Top TV Songs Chart

Kiss’ “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” tops the final edition of Billboard’s Top TV Songs chart, powered by Tunefind (a Songtradr company), for 2024, appearing at No. 1 on the December 2024 survey after a synch in Disney+’s What If…?. Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news Rankings for the Top Movie Songs chart are based on song and film data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending that data with sales and streaming information tracked by Luminate during the corresponding period of December 2024. The ranking includes newly released films from the preceding three months. “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” racked up 8.6 million official on-demand U.S. streams and 1,000 downloads in December 2024 after being heard in the fourth episode of the third season of What If…?, according to Luminate. The anthology series based in the Marvel Cinematic Universe premiered its third season on Dec. 22 with an eight-episode run that concluded Dec. 29. It’s the second high-profile synch for “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” a No. 11 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1979, in the last year, following the song’s appearance in the 2024 film The Fall Guy (both Kiss’ original and a cover by Yungblud). “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” reached a new peak of No. 2 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart dated Jan. 18, 2025, as viewers continued to catch up on What If…?. The song is followed by a slew of tracks featured in the fifth season of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone, which began airing in November and concluded with its series finale on Dec. 15. In all, six of the chart’s 10 positions feature Yellowstone music, led by Lainey Wilson’s “Hang Tight Honey” at No. 2 (2.6 million streams, 4,000 downloads) and followed by Sam Barber’s “Better Year” at No. 4 (4 million streams, 1,000 downloads). Ariana Grande’s Boyfriend Ethan Slater Celebrates Her Oscar Nomination

Boq is proud of his Glinda. Shortly after 2025 Oscar nominations were announced Thursday (Jan. 23) — revealing that Ariana Grande is in the running for best supporting actress for her Wicked performance — Ethan Slater shared a sweet photo on Instagram celebrating his superstar girlfriend’s success. Allowing the picture to speak for itself, the Broadway actor simply uploaded a captionless snap of the “Yes, And?” singer standing by a window in what appears to be a hotel room, holding a bundle of pink balloons. Slater also tagged Grande — who reshared the post on her Story — and the Academy as well as the film. The Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical star’s post comes shortly after the R.E.M. Beauty founder shared her own post reacting to the Oscar news, gushing that she “cannot stop crying” over receiving her first-ever nod. “i’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered,” the pop star wrote. “i’m so proud of you, tiny.” Slater and the two-time Grammy winner have been dating since 2023 after meeting on the set of Wicked. Grande was previously married to luxury realtor Dalton Gomez for three years; the pair finalized their divorce in March last year. Slater was previously married to therapist Lilly Jay, with whom he shares a young son; they settled their divorce in September. Grande and Slater have largely kept their relationship private, but both have previously spoken about the backlash they faced when their relationship first came to light. In a September cover story interview with Vanity Fair, Grande said that “the most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version” of events. “No one on this Earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about,” Grande added at the time. “There is no one on this Earth with a better heart, and that is something that no bulls–t tabloid can rewrite in real life.” In October, Slater reflected to GQ, “It’s really hard to see people who don’t know anything about what’s happening commenting on it and speculating, and then getting things wrong about the people you love … I’m just really, really proud of Ari and the work she’s done.” In addition to Grande’s best supporting actress nod, Wicked received nine other nominations ahead of the 2025 Oscars, tying it with The Brutalist for second-most nominated. Emilia Pérez takes the lead this year with 13 nods total. The Victorious alum’s co-leading lady Cynthia Erivo is also nominated, earning a best actress recognition, while Wicked is up for best picture, best original score and more. Source link

2025 BRITs Nominations: Snubs & Surprises

Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande and The Beatles are among artists who either did better or worse than expected. Ariana Grande Katia Temkin By the time the BRITs ceremony took place in March 2024, the future of the U.K. scene’s musical identity appeared to be on the line. Raye may have scooped a deserved six awards that night – a new record for the most in a single year – but the path ahead was unclear: Who would step up and take British music to the world again? It was Charli XCX who took the baton and raced away with it. She’s been rewarded with five nominations at 2025’s ceremony, with Dua Lipa not far behind with four nods – surely a relief after Radical Optimism missed out at this year’s Grammys. Both could be big winners on the night. Elsewhere, rock titans added to their illustrious histories at the awards, with Coldplay and The Cure landing nominations in a number of categories. Upstarts English Teacher and Lola Young also landed placements in key categories, showcasing a brighter future for British music heading into 2025. There are a number of head scratchers, however. While no acts are guaranteed berths, to see someone such as Ariana Grande receive no nominations in a year where she was dominant in the world of music and film is something of a surprise. Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” was named the Billboard staff’s Song of the Year in 2024, but to the BRITs Voting Academy it appears to have not made the same impact. Ahead of the ceremony in London on March 1, we look at the biggest snubs and surprises from the BRITs 2025 nominations. Snub: Ariana Grande Grande has been totally shut out at this year’s ceremony. It’s a huge shock given that her 2024 album, Eternal Sunshine, reached No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart, and two singles from the LP – “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” – both hit No. 2 in the U.K. She’s also been nominated for international artist of the year four times in the past (2016, 2019, 2020, 2021) and scooped the prize once in 2019. Snub: Kendrick Lamar “Not Like Us” was the knockout blow in Kendrick and Drake’s vicious beef last summer: The song topped the Hot 100 and is a frontrunner in a number of categories at the upcoming Grammys. It is, shockingly, absent from international song of the year despite the 15 slots available in the category. Lamar does pick up a nod in the international artist category, however. Surprise: Amyl and The Sniffers The Aussie punks released their third album Cartoon Darkness in October, and it landed at No. 9 in the U.K. and broke into the Billboard 200 at No. 196. That said, they’ve put the work in the market for years with a brilliant live show and by building a committed fanbase. Bands such as Amyl and The Sniffers don’t always get a look-in at the BRITs, so it’s a welcome surprise to see them in the international group of the year category. Surprise: Ezra Collective Ezra Collective have had a sensational year: They released their third album, Dance, No One’s Watching, and headlined London’s Wembley Arena, the biggest headline gig ever by a jazz act in the U.K. It’s no surprise they land in four categories – album of the year, group of the year, alternative/rock act and best new artist – but it’s the last nod that appears out of step. The group is well-established compared to some of the others in the category, and have already scooped major gongs such as the Mercury Prize in 2023. A similar controversy marred BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2025, for which Ezra Collective were nominated for (but lost out to Chappell Roan). Snub: Gracie Abrams Gracie Abrams is currently on an eight-week run at No. 1 on the U.K.’s Singles Chart with breakout hit “That’s So True.” The song appeared on a deluxe edition of sophomore album The Secret of Us, released last October, and followed appearances as a support act on Taylor Swift’s mammoth Eras Tour. She doesn’t get a look-in for the international categories, despite her huge commercial success.  Surprise: Dave The hip-hop/rap/grime act category is stacked with big names, but Dave’s inclusion is a bit of a head scratcher. While the Streatham-based rapper has had success at the BRITs in the past (and gave one of the ceremony’s best-ever performances in 2020), his past year was relatively quiet. He did not release any solo material, jump on any features or even perform live. The continued success of “Sprinter,” his 2023 team-up with Central Cee, might have carried him forward, but there were other names (K-Trap or Nines, for example) who deserved the nod, too. Surprise: The Beatles The Beatles’ ‘final’ song “Now and Then” lands in song of the year category and gives the Fab Four their first nomination at the BRITs in nearly 50 years. The first BRITs ceremony was held in 1977 to celebrate 100 years of British music, and the group came away with the British pop album award for 1967’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band; they picked up the prize for outstanding contribution to music in 1983. It follows a nomination for their longtime rivals The Rolling Stones in 2024, who were up for alternative/rock act, but lost out to Bring Me the Horizon. Snub: Glass Animals Their 2020 single “Heat Waves” was the first by a British group to top the Hot 100 since Coldplay achieved the feat in 2008 with “Viva la Vida.” The song’s record-breaking climb on the charts appeared to set the group up for further international and domestic success. There was, however, a muted response to last year’s follow-up LP I Love You So F***ing Much, which only charted at No. 5 in the U.K. They are shut out of all categories at 2025’s ceremony. Surprise: Dua Lipa  In late 2024,

Bad Bunny’s ‘DtMF’ No. 1 on Streaming Songs Chart

Bad Bunny reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart for the second time as “DtMF” soars 27-1 in its second week, topping the Jan. 25-dated tally. In its first full tracking week of data (Jan. 10-16; the song was released alongside the rest of Bad Bunny’s new album Debí Tirar Más Fotos on Jan. 5), “DtMF” earned 34.9 million official U.S. streams, according to Luminate. “DtMF” is the second song in a row to rise to, rather than debut at, No. 1, following preceding leader “Die With a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, which first reigned on the Jan. 11 list following the end of the holiday season. Bad Bunny notches his second No. 1 on the survey; “Me Porto Bonito,” with Chencho Corleone, led for two weeks in 2022. Between “Me Porto Bonito” and “DtMF,” Bad Bunny’s best on the chart had been “Monaco,” which debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Oct. 28, 2023-dated ranking. Music from Debí Tirar Más Fotos occupies Streaming Songs’ entire top two and four of its top 10; “Baile Inolvidable” follows at No. 2 (26.7 million streams), and then comes “Nuevayol” (No. 4, 23.5 million streams) and “Voy a Llevarte Pa PR” (No. 6, 19 million streams). In all, the 17-song album – which concurrently ranks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as previously reported – occupies 17 spots on the 50-position chart, all the way down to No. 47, with “Lo Que Le Paso a Hawaii” (9.1 million streams). The reign of “DtMF” on Streaming Songs was preceded by its No. 1 debut on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 dated Jan. 18, spurred by edits featuring the song set to photos and videos of passed-on loved ones. “DtMF” also leaps 38-2 on the multimetric Billboard Hot 100, also garnering 2,000 downloads in addition to its streams. On Hot Latin Songs, it’s Bad Bunny’s 16th No. 1 and takes over from “Nuevayol,” which had debuted at No. 1 the previous week. Source link

Charli XCX, Dua Lipa & More

Charli XCX leads the nominations for the 2025 BRIT Awards, with nods in five categories – artist of the year, pop act, dance act, Mastercard album of the year for the zeitgeist-shifting Brat, and song of the year for “Guess,” her collaboration with Billie Eilish. The awards are scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 1, at The O2 Arena in London. The show will be broadcast live on ITV1 and streaming service ITVX, and hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall. Related Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news The Essex-born musician achieved global success with Brat, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 – her highest charting record to date. The album, released in May 2024, also scored major wins across the U.K. Singles Chart, with three of its tracks earning top 10 placements: “Sympathy Is a Knife” (No. 7), “Apple” (No. 8) and “Guess” (No. 3). This slew of new BRIT nominations takes Charli’s career total up to eight. Recent Billboard UK cover star Dua Lipa, The Last Dinner Party and jazz group Ezra Collective follow with four nominations each. Lipa has become something of a BRITs darling over the course of her career, having won seven from 16 prior nominations received since 2017. Goth rock icons The Cure pick up three nods across Mastercard album of the year, group of the year and alternative/rock act. It’s the latter’s first nomination at The BRITs since 1993; the group bagged British group in 1991. Coldplay, meanwhile, add two nominations to its all-time tally of 30.  Superstars including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and more all feature in the international categories, though Ariana Grande is shut out at this year’s ceremony despite her past success at the awards. The Beatles have secured the group’s first BRITs nomination since 1977 in the song of the year category for their final song “Now and Then.” The BRITs were first held in 1977 to celebrate British music over the past century, and became a yearly event in 1982. In December, the BRITs announced Luton-born singer-songwriter Myles Smith as the recipient of the 2025 BRIT Rising Star award — a new music prize that is handed out to the British act that the voting academy believes will make the biggest impact on music in the coming year. Smith has also earned nominations for best new artist and song of the year for his global hit “Stargazing.” Other first-time nominees include Leeds art-rock band English Teacher, who scooped last year’s Mercury Prize, alongside indie-pop artist Rachel Chinouriri. Appearing in the pop act lineup, Lola Young – who is currently enjoying U.K. chart success with breakthrough single “Messy” – earns her first BRIT nomination since 2022.  The winners of the honorary songwriter of the year and producer of the year awards will be revealed over the coming weeks, alongside the ceremony’s performers. The nominees are compiled by the Brit Awards Voting Academy, its membership made up of musicians and industry figures, but the public will decide on the winners of the genre categories, with voting taking place via a WhatsApp campaign which will open in the coming weeks. Supa King’s ‘Tell On Me’ Is No. 1 on TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart

Nearly a decade after its release, Supa King’s “Tell on Me” is No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50, debuting atop the Jan. 25-dated survey. The TikTok Billboard Top 50 is a weekly ranking of the most popular songs on TikTok in the United States based on creations, video views and user engagement. The latest chart reflects activity Jan. 13-19. Activity on TikTok is not included in Billboard charts except for the TikTok Billboard Top 50. The latest TikTok Billboard Top 50 includes all available data in the U.S. from Jan. 13-19; the app was unavailable in the U.S. for multiple hours between Jan. 18 and 19. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news “Tell On Me” marks rapper Supa King’s first appearance on a Billboard chart and the second No. 1 debut in a row, following Bad Bunny’s “DtMF,” which topped the Jan. 18 ranking and appears at No. 2 on the latest tally. The 2016 track from that year’s SKBP, Vol. 1 reigns thanks to a trend in which users dance to the song’s “tell on me” chorus often while doing so in strange positions, whether seemingly dangling from the ceiling, from the wall or in other acrobatic postures, often in a bathroom (understandably: many of the top-performing clips feature a disclaimer noting that “participating in this activity could result in you or others getting hurt”). “Tell On Me” concurrently earned 717,000 official U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 16, up from a negligible amount the previous frame, according to Luminate. Its No. 1 predecessor “DtMF,” meanwhile, continues to thrive via TikTok clips highlighting the song’s sentiment of wishing one had taken more photos and given more hugs and kisses to a loved one who’s no longer with them. “DtMF” vaults to No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart and to No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. Though “Tell On Me” is the only debut within the chart’s top 10, it’s far from the only newcomer. In all, six of the top 10 reach the region for the first time, with “Tell On Me” followed by Sage the Gemini’s “Gas Pedal,” which vaults 13-3 in its second week. Released in 2013 and featuring Iamsu!, “Gas Pedal” was Sage the Gemini’s top-charting song as a lead artist on the Hot 100 in its time, peaking at No. 29 in September 2013. With lyrics that begin with “slow down, grab the wall, wiggle like you’re tryna make your ass fall off,” the song seems practically tailormade for an app like TikTok in retrospect, and over a decade later, “Gas Pedal” rises thanks to a dance trend (though a new one, rather than anything featured in, say, the original’s music video in 2013). “Gas Pedal” sports a 52% increase in streams to 1.3 million in the week ending Jan. 16. Another song that debuted on the Jan. 18 TikTok Billboard Top 50, So Supa, Tre Loaded and Big Boogie’s “Dumb Crasy,” also jumps into the top 10, shooting 34-5. Though newer than “Gas Pedal,” “Dumb Crasy” isn’t exactly brand new, having been released in June 2023. “Dumb Crasy” benefits from a trend on TikTok in which one user (the cameraperson) pushes another person, who then does a quick dance, usually in response to a prompt related to something they like (“what would you do for some McDonald’s fries,” “when our least-favorite teacher is absent,” etc.). The song is up 174% to 297,000 streams in the week ending Jan. 16. It’s So Supa and Tre Loaded’s first appearance on any Billboard chart. SZA’s Kendrick Lamar collaboration “30 for 30” jumps into the top 10 for the first time, rising 17-7 in its third week on the list. From SZA’s deluxe version of SOS, SOS Deluxe: Lana, released Dec. 20, “30 for 30” is viral on TikTok by highlighting Lamar’s “But if it’s f–k me then f–k you/ And that’s the way I like it” lyric. “30 for 30” appears at No. 26 on the latest Hot 100 (its peak so far is No. 22), garnering 14.2 million streams, 9.5 million radio audience impressions and 1,000 downloads in the week ending Jan. 16. Sexyy Red’s “She’s Back” and Neton Vega’s “Loco” are the final two TikTok Billboard Top 50 top 10 newcomers, ranking at Nos. 8 and 10, respectively. “She’s Back” leaps back onto the ranking after referencing TikTok’s return in the U.S. following its brief service outage (the app was removed late Jan. 18, citing a law banning it in the U.S., but returned the next day, with President Donald Trump signing an executive order on Jan. 20 temporarily pausing the ban). “Loco,” meanwhile, caps a four-week rise to the top 10, with its trends including one where creators write comments about themselves or about love and relationships, often with a city skyline passing them by. See the full TikTok Billboard Top 50 here. You can also tune in each Friday to SiriusXM’s TikTok Radio (channel 4) to hear the premiere of the chart’s top 10 countdown at 3 p.m. ET, with reruns heard throughout the week. Source link

Ariana Grande Gets Oscars Best Supporting Actress Nod: See Her Reaction

Ariana Grande couldn’t be happier to be an Oscar-nominated actress. Following the Academy’s unveiling of its 2025 nominees Thursday (Jan. 23) — revealing that the pop star is up for best supporting actress for her portrayal of Glinda in Jon M. Chu’s Wicked, marking her first-ever nod — Grande shared an emotional reaction to the news on Instagram. Posting a photo of herself as a child, dressed up as Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of Oz, the “Yes, And?” singer began by writing, “picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition.” “i cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise,” she continued. “i’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. i’m so proud of you, tiny.” The Grammy winner also thanked Chu for “taking this chance on me and for being the most unbelievably brilliant leader,” as well as shouted out her co-leading lady Cynthia Erivo, who scored a nomination for best actress. “i am so proud of my Elphie, my sister,” Grande wrote of the Pinocchio star. “your brilliance is never ending and you deserve every flower (tulip) in every garden. i love you unconditionally, always.” “i don’t quite have all my words yet, i’m still trying to breathe,” added the “We Can’t Be Friends” musician. “but thank you. oh my goodness, thank you.” Earning 10 nods total this year, Wicked ties with The Brutalist for second-most nominated project at the 2025 Oscars. Only Emilia Pérez has more, scoring 13 total. Grande shares the best supporting actress category with A Complete Unknown‘s Monica Barbaro, The Brutalist‘s Felicity Jones, Conclave‘s Isabela Rossellini and Emilia Pérez‘s Zoe Saldaña. Erivo is running against Emilia Pérez‘s Karla Sofía Gascón, Anora‘s Mikey Madison, The Substance‘s Demi Moore and I’m Still Here‘s Fernanda Torres for best actress. See Grande’s post below. Actors Playing Musicians & Singers Who Earned Oscar Nominations

This is the first time in Oscar history that three actors from the same film have been nominated for Oscars for playing musicians. Timothée Chalamet in «A Complete Unknown.» Macall Polay/Courtesy of Searchlight Pictures Español With their Oscar nominations, announced on Thursday (Jan. 23), for playing legendary folk singers Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger and Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown, Timothée Chalamet, Edward Norton and Monica Barbaro join an impressive list of actors who have been nominated for playing real-life music personalities. This is the first time in Oscar history that three actors from the same film have been nominated for Oscars for playing musicians. The previous record of two actors from the same film receiving Oscar nods for playing musicians was shared by Walk the Line, What’s Love Got to Do With It and Amadeus. Twelve actors have won Oscars for playing real-life music personalities. The first to do so was James Cagney for playing entertainer George M. Cohan in Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942). The most recent was Jessica Chastain for playing televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker (who frequently sang on her TV programs and released at least 15 studio albums) in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021). We’ll find out if Chalamet and/or Norton and/or Barbaro joins their ranks when the 97th Academy Awards are presented on March 2. Two actresses have been nominated for best actress for portraying legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday. Diana Ross was nominated for the 1972 film Lady Sings the Blues; Andra Day for the 2020 film The United States vs. Billie Holiday. Here are 37 actors who have been nominated for Oscars for playing real-life music personalities. XXXTentaction’s Best Songs: 10 Essential Tracks

It’s been nearly seven years since XXXTentacion was tragically shot and killed during an armed robbery in Deerfield Park, Florida, in June 2018 at the age of 20. Throughout his meteoric rise, X — born Jahseh Onfroy — established a deep connection to millions of fans as one of the leaders of the SoundCloud generation of rap while also vulnerably opening up about his mental health and battles with depression. X committed full-time to rap in 2016 when he moved in with fellow Florida rapper Denzel Curry and exploded onto the mainstream scene in early 2017 with the re-release of his hostile “Look At Me!” single, which blew up on SoundCloud before hitting DSPs. The Rojas on the Beat and Jimmy Duval-produced hit launched X’s career into another stratosphere as his mugshot cover art was seemingly inescapable on social media with “Look At Me!” reaching No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was one of Billboard‘s Songs That Defined the Decade for the 2010s. He even attempted to feud with Drake over allegations that the 6 God imitated his “Look At Me!” flow on More Life‘s “KMT” track in 2017. Before his death, X released a pair of studio albums with 17 and ?. In the week following his murder, “SAD!” rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 to posthumously give X his first chart-topper in June 2018. While his talent as a musician is undeniable, XXXTentacion’s legacy remains a complicated one due to the myriad of mounting legal charges against him including domestic violence, assault, witness tampering and robbery. At the time of his passing, X faced 15 felonies originally stemming from an arrest in 2016. Thursday (Jan. 23) marks what would have been XXXTentacion’s 27th birthday. From the melancholy to the rage, there was no telling how far X was going to push his artistry in his 20s. Check out our list of what we feel are the late rapper’s 10 best songs below. “Changes” XXXTentacion shows off the range of his artistry as he delivers one of his most heartbreaking songs over icy piano keys, while singing about the pain striking a hole in his chest. “Girl you’re making it hard for me,” PnB Rock croons in agony to assist on the chorus. PnB and X teamed up on many occasions, however, the Philly native was also tragically murdered four years after XXX in 2022. “Moonlight” X takes listeners on a two-minute space expedition throughout “Moonlight.” He flips the trippy instrumental in a strong rap song, which finds him opening up about a turbulent relationship with a girl falling victim to the poisonous mentality of those around them. It’s emotive tracks like this that feel potent and also still effortless from the Florida native. “Infinity (888)” (feat. Joey Bada$$) XXXTentacion and Joey Bada$$ seem like an unlikely combination on its face, but the duo put their bars to the test as X tapped more into his rap side while teaming up with Brooklyn’s lyrical savant. X was clearly inspired by Joey and brought his A-game on “Infinity (888)” while declaring himself the “realest since Kennedy” over P. Soul’s thumping drums. X and Joey even planned to complete a joint project before this death. “Everybody Dies in Their Nightmares” The mental warfare X dealt with made music a cathartic release for him. “Everybody Dies in Their Nightmares” delves into the depths of Triple X’s psyche. He peels back the layers on his extreme emotional swings. “Only time I feel pain, when I’m feelin’ love/ That’s why it’s tatted on my face that I’m damn numb,” he speedily raps over the ambient production. The dark track showcases another weapon in X’s artistic repertoire on 17. “Jocelyn Flores” X’s gift was being able to turn his pain and emotions into poetry in motion. And he did it in a way that the average fan couldn’t spell out themselves, which endeared the Florida rapper to millions across the globe. A great example of this is “Jocelyn Flores.” The 17 standout — an album that grabbed Kendrick Lamar’s attention and caused him to run to Twitter — saw X look inward and wrestle with romance and frightening thoughts of suicide, which he poured into a powerful song. “Amy Winehouse” Another hidden gem from a neophyte XXXTentacion, who released “Amy Winehouse” to his SoundCloud in 2015. The devilish track follows X bragging about having sex with one of his friend’s girlfriends. X’s muffled flow sounds possessed as he slowly speaks directly into your soul, while piano keys play out like a scene from a horror movie. “SAD!” “SAD!” was X’s only top 10 hit while he was alive and the week following his passing in June 2018, the poignant track launched to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as fans celebrated the life of Jahseh Onfroy. It became the first posthumous chart-topper since The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo Money Mo Problems.” The John Cunningham-produced song cuts deep, as X grapples with losing a lover and dealing with the depths of depression while coming to terms with the severed relationship. “Suicide if you ever try to let go, uh/ I’m sad, I know, yeah,” he warbles on the chorus. “Vice City” A pure look into X’s early creative process. “Vice City” is a crown jewel that fans hold near and dear to their hearts. It was the first track made available on X’s SoundCloud account in 2014 before eventually finding a home on streaming services eight years later. A teenaged XXXTentacion found the free “Logic Type Beat” online and sped it up a bit before pouring his emotions out. “If you stated opinions, then bones would begin to shatter,” he raps about his outspoken nature. How was a kid operating at this level as a 16-year-old? “F**k Love” Feat. Trippie Redd XXXTentacion and Trippie Redd were a lethal combination. “F**k Love” is the best example of their fruitful chemistry and the see-saw battle with a nauseating romance remains some of
