Dipset fans and Harlem residents have been heartbroken over this recent spat between Cam’ron and Jim Jones. In recent days, the two Diplomats and close friends have been going back and forth about things that happened in the past. Jim Jones ultimately took issue with Cam’ron’s December interview with former foe 50 Cent where the pair recalled Jones and Juelz Santana making an cameo at a G-Unit show in 2007, around the same time 50 and Cam weren’t getting along. While sitting down with social media personality Justin Laboy, Jones hit back, saying, “Them n—as be on my d—k. Them n—as ain’t got nothing else to think about but Capo,” among other things. Cam then responded on his It What It Is sportstalk show with Ma$e, calling Jim “a fan,” said that he was really from The Bronx, and reminded him that he and Ma$e taught him how to rap, something Jones has already admitted in the past on numerous occasions. Jimmy posted a snippet in the wee hours of the morning earlier today where he starts the Statik Selektah-produced song off by saying, “When n—s play with your name, then you remind them who you are,” and ended the clip with the line, “So, what more you wanna ask him? You n—as taught me how to rap and now I’m platinum.” Cam has yet to respond to the track and Jimmy hasn’t released the diss in full yet, so we’ll have to keep you updated on the latest quarrel between Killa and Capo. As wildfires continue to devastate parts of Los Angeles, Billboard is working to support the community by canceling all of the company’s Grammy-related events. “Our hearts are with the people of Los Angeles as they face the reality of these devastating fires. Many members of our staff and community have been personally affected, and our core focus at this time is allocating the resources we have to support long term recovery for the city we call home,” the company shared in a statement on Tuesday (Jan. 14). As a result, events including Managers to Watch and the annual Power 100 party have been canceled. “We are deeply grateful for the first responders, firefighters, and community organizers who have mobilized to protect and serve the city of Los Angeles,” the statement reads, noting that the company’s fundraising efforts will benefit organizations including California Community Foundation, Pasadena Community Foundation and Baby2Baby. Billboard follows in the steps of a number of other companies who are canceling Grammy events to shift focus to supporting those affected by the fires. Earlier in the day, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music Group had also canceled plans in the week leading up to the awards show. The Recording Academy announced, meanwhile, that it plans to go ahead with the 67th annual Grammy Awards telecast on Feb. 2. The MusiCares Person of the Year gala (which is set to honor the Grateful Dead) is also still set for Jan. 31. The academy has yet to announce a final decision about other Grammy Week events, such as their Special Merit Awards on Feb. 1, which are usually held at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in L.A. Cardi took to X Spaces on Tuesday (Jan. 14) where she accused her estranged husband along with his mother, Latabia Woodward, of robbing her. Told you stop f—ing playing with me.” The Grammy-winning rapper didn’t allude to exactly what she meant when it came to the alleged robbery. Cardi went on to allege that Offset didn’t want any part in playing the role of Santa Claus this year. She claimed that Set didn’t buy their three children a single gift for Christmas this holiday season even after an NYC shopping spree for his kids with other women. “You just called your daughter for the first time this year, yesterday. Your newborn. You love your kids so much and you didn’t bought them s–t for Christmas,” she said. “But you came to New York to buy your other kids gifts. But you didn’t bought my kids s–t on purpose to spite me. Mind you, we was cool. We wasn’t f—ing, but we was cool. Stop f—ing playing with me.” Cardi confessed that she “couldn’t even enjoy [her] own wins because [she] felt like he was going through something.” She continued: “And this is the realest s–t somebody could ever do for you. I used to pray for this person before I prayed for myself. There have already been rumors about real estate developers offering up money to homeowners impacted by the recent fires in the Los Angeles area, and Vince Staples may be one of those people. California Gov. Gavin Newsom recently spoke about efforts to stop developers trying to take advantage of people who have been affected by the fires. “I was just talking with Josh Green, the governor down in Hawaii, who had some ideas around some land use concerns he had, around speculators coming in and buying up properties and the likes,” he recently told Fox 11 in regards to potential land grabs. “We are already working with our legal team to move those things forward, and we’ll be presenting those in a matter of days, not just weeks.” There’s also a running list on X of landlords who have been accused of price-gouging rent, with some rental prices allegedly being raised upward of 100 percent or more. Staples also tweeted a link to a fundraiser organized by the city of Long Beach, and he’s not the only rapper to be helping out his fellow California neighbors. The members of O-Town are making sure the public knows they have zero ties to Sean “Diddy” Combs amid the disgraced music mogul’s ongoing legal battles. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published Tuesday (Jan. 14), bandmates Erik-Michael Estrada and Jacob Underwood alleged that their brand has suffered from false perceptions that Combs was involved with O-Town simply because the producer worked on separate seasons of Making the Band, the reality show on which the boy band got its start. “We make a living touring and can’t afford to have [bookers] Googling us to find the latest Diddy clickbait,” Underwood told the publication. “Of all the bands in Making the Band, we’re the only one not tied to him,” he added, noting that he’s never met Combs. “The more people confuse us with a Diddy band and post our pictures with his story, the more it goes against us.” O-Town first formed on the inaugural season of Making the Band, going on to chart three songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and tour with Britney Spears at the turn of the millennium. Combs later became involved with other iterations of the reality TV show in the early 2000s, working with different groups such as Danity Kane, Da Band and Day26. Decades later, Estrada, Underwood and bandmates Trevor Penick and Dan Miller are still going strong as a group (without original bandmate Ashley Parker Angel), while the Bad Boy Records founder is currently awaiting trial in prison on charges of sex abuse and racketeering. The accusations against him — which Combs has repeatedly denied — are sprawling, and O-Town says that having Making the Band in common with Combs has lost them lucrative deals, even after all these years. For instance, O-Town’s agent, Matt Rafal, told THR that a large gaming company dropped the band from a year-end party billing due to confusion over the matter. “The offer was pulled due to the perception of the group being attached to Diddy,” Rafal said. “We made it clear O-Town’s Making the Band had no association with Diddy, but the company worried guests may be confused … Since the Diddy news, we’ve received questions and hesitancy from several talent buyers, especially for soft tickets like fairs and theme parks, as well as city-funded events.” “I wish people looked at Making the Band and went, ‘Making the Band was O-Town and it was the pioneering brand for music reality television in the States,” Estrada added, calling the show “the blueprint” for programs like American Idol. “Unfortunately, the actions of one man have tainted the reality, which is four individuals who met on a reality show and are going strong 25 years later.” Estrada also said that he did attend some of Combs’ parties in New York back in the day, and that “there was always a salacious energy” at the events. “He encouraged people to dip into their wild side, but I never witnessed anything firsthand,” the boy band star told the publication. “Gratefully, I can look my fiancé in the face and swear I never attended any after-hours version of a Diddy party.” The “All or Nothing” singer also noted the irony of another disgraced music mogul’s associations with O-Town and Making the Band: Lou Pearlman, who spearheaded the series and managed O-Town, the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC before he was convicted of running a half-billion-dollar Ponzi scheme in 2008. The businessman died in prison in 2016 while serving his 25-year sentence. “We’ve already had a Lou and now we’re dealing with a Diddy … it’s the MO of our career,” Estrada said. “Despite the steep climbs, we’ve generated a successful national tour with Pop 2000, had families, done other projects and strengthened our bond with fans, so when noise like this creeps up, we’re in good standing with the people who matter most.” Source link

ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” joins the lofty company of BTS’ “Dynamite” as the only songs by acts prominent in K-pop (Korean pop) to have reached the top five on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart. “APT.” ascends two spots to No. 5 on the latest, Jan. 18-dated Pop Airplay chart. “Dynamite” peaked at No. 5 on the radio ranking in December 2020. “APT.” marks the first Pop Airplay chart entry for ROSÉ as a soloist; star K-pop quartet BLACKPINK has charted two tracks (reaching a No. 21 best) with her as a member. The Pop Airplay chart ranks songs by weekly plays on over 150 mainstream top 40 radio stations monitored by Mediabase, with data provided to Billboard by Luminate. A select five K-pop hits have climbed to the Pop Airplay top 10, beginning with PSY’s “Gangnam Style” in 2021. That viral smash and “APT.” are the only such songs billed to solo artists. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are among the lucky few who have been able to return home amid the fires that continue to devastate Los Angeles. The Cravings author, who has been sharing resources for fire victims via social media, took to her Instagram Stories on Monday (Jan. 13) to reveal that she and her family were safely able to go back to their house after evacuating last week. “Feeling grateful to be back home,” she wrote alongside a photo of a chocolate birthday cake with two John Cena action figures placed on top. “This is all I could muster up for Esti’s birthday.” Teigen and Legend’s third child, Esti Maxine, turned two years old on Jan. 14. A number of resources are available for those who have lost their homes or need assistance in other ways. MusiCares and the Recording Academy have launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to support music professionals impacted by the crisis, making a combined pledge of $1 million to kick off the efforts. Buck White, the patriarch of country and bluegrass music group The Whites, died Monday, Jan. 13 at age 94. White’s daughters Sharon, Cheryl, Rosie and Melissa said in a statement: “The Lord answered our prayers and took our daddy home peacefully this morning at 8:00 a.m. We are so thankful for his 94 years on this earth. He was a great Dad who taught us by example to put Jesus first always. His great loves were the Lord, our mother, his family and music. Most people will remember him not only for being a great musician and entertainer, but also for being fun-loving and full of mischief. He lived a full life and finished well.” White was born Dec. 13, 1930. According to The Whites’ Skaggs Family Records bio, White launched his music career by playing mandolin and piano in dance halls and radio shows around Texas. He later relocated his family to Arkansas in the 1960s. The group initially formed as Buck White & the Down Home Folks, and as White’s daughters Sharon and Cheryl began displaying their own talents for music, they joined the group. Throughout the early 1970s, they continued releasing albums. Their music and familial harmonies caught the ear of Emmylou Harris, who invited the group to sing on her 1979 album Blue Kentucky Girl; they then joined Harris on the road as her opening act. Buck White also released the solo album More Pretty Girls Than One in 1979, while the group issued their first album under the moniker The Whites in 1983, with Old Familiar Feeling. In the 1980s, the group earned top 10 Hot Country Songs chart hits including “You Put the Blue in Me” (which earned the group its first Grammy nomination, for best country performance by a duo or group with vocal) and “Hangin’ Around.” Sharon White married bluegrass/country artist Ricky Skaggs in 1981, and Skaggs produced the bulk of The Whites’ 1980s hits. The Whites and Skaggs also began performing often together, with Skaggs introducing the group to new audiences. The Whites became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 1984. The Whites also picked up CMA Awards nominations in categories including horizon award, instrumental group of the year and vocal group of the year. They released their first all-gospel album in 1988 with Doing It by the Book. White appeared with his daughters in the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou, and the country music classic “Keep on the Sunny Side” as part of the movie’s soundtrack. The group also took part in the 40-plus city Down From the Mountain Tour. To date, The Whites have won two Grammys, earning best southern, country or bluegrass gospel album for their project Salt of the Earth (with Skaggs), and album of the year for the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. The Country Music Association also named the soundtrack as its album of the year in 2001. The Whites were inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame in 2008, and earned the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)’s distinguished achievement award in 2006. They also celebrated 40 years as members of the Grand Ole Opry last March. From “Big One” to “Come Here,” Florida rapper Bossman Dlow kept the hits coming throughout 2024. After scoring a string of viral bangers from his mixtapes, Dlow dropped his debut studio album, Dlow Curry, on Dec. 13. For one of his first interviews of the new year, the fast-rising star caught up with Billboard News to break down Dlow Curry and his upcoming tour. Last year, Dlow earned his first two Billboard Hot 100 entries with “Get In With Me” (No. 49) and “Mr. Pot Scraper” (No. 93), both from his RIAA Gold-certified Mr Beat the Road mixtape. Those two tracks kicked off a run of hit singles — all of which reached the top 50 of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs — including “SportsCenter” (No. 34), the Glorilla-assisted “Finesse” (No. 37), “Shake Dat Ass” (No. 12), “Talk My Shit” (No. 50), “2 Slippery” (No. 29, with Luh Tyler) and the Lil Baby-featuring “PJ” (No. 28). For Dlow, his breakout hit, “Get In With Me,” remains his “most shocking” success. “I put that one to the side,” he explains to Billboard staff writer Kyle Denis. “I was shooting a video to ‘Finesse’ [at the time], so when I seen the numbers going up on Instagram, I was like ‘Oh!’ But [I was] shooting a video, so I [couldn’t] really watch it, but every time I checked, [the song] was going crazier and crazier.” “Get In With Me” ultimately finished at No. 38 on the 2024 Year-End Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs ranking, his highest of four entries. Dlow announced his debut LP through a SportsCenter appearance, playing on his love for sports. In addition to Steph Curry — whose name inspired the album’s title — Dlow’s top five basketball players include Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Edwards. Dlow Curry spun off more hits for Big Za, and that’s because the Tallahassee MC finally perfected his formula. “You gotta really think about what everybody else wanna hear,” he reveals. “It’s what you wanna hear at the same time, but it’s 90% what they wanna hear. Nowadays, it’s about [being] catchy. You wanna say something that they can repeat and remember.” Dlow has used this formula not just to make “get that motion” music, but also to collaborate with rising stars like Loe Shimmy, who he says is his favorite artist to work with in the studio. In the years ahead, Dlow hopes to collaborate with Future, Usher and The Weeknd; hopefully, his forthcoming Wiz Khalifa collaboration sets the stage for those link-ups. With goals of going No. 1 and getting Diamond-certified guiding him into the 2025, Bossman Dlow is ready to put on a yet-to-be-announced tour that will also involve the kids. “I know all the kids like my music,” he says. “So they gon get a chance to win money, prizes, all that.
