Marilyn Manson Abuse Allegations Timeline

In February 2021, ‘Westworld’ star Evan Rachel Wood named Marilyn Manson as her alleged abuser. Here’s what has happened since. Marilyn Manson Stewart Cook/Shutterstock In February 2021, Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood named Marilyn Manson as her alleged abuser. “I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent,” she shared via Instagram on Feb 1. Wood and Manson had a relationship when the actress was 18 and Manson was 36, and the pair were briefly engaged in 2010. Manson denied the allegations in his own Instagram statement. “Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality,” he wrote. “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misinterpret the past, that is the truth.” Billboard made earlier attempts to reach Manson for comment through his now former management, but has not received any responses. Following Wood’s statement, a number of other women went public with their own claims against Manson, but his history with abuse allegations stems back nearly 25 years. See below for a full timeline. February 1998 – The Long Hard Road Out of Hell Manson’s autobiography featured a number of anecdotes, which Chicago Reader critic Jim Derogatis called out at the time for “generally mistreating one or more women per page.” In a particularly gruesome chapter, “Meating the Fans / Meat and Greet,” Manson recalled a deaf fan who got covered in raw meat and had sex with a number of band members before getting urinated on by Manson and his bandmate. While that encounter was presented as consensual by Manson, another anecdote featuring Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor stirred controversy. The chapter, which resurfaced online recently, details how Reznor and Manson allegedly physically and sexually assaulted an intoxicated woman in the ’90s. On Feb. 3, 2021, Reznor issued a statement to denounce his onetime collaborator. “I have been vocal over the years about my dislike of Manson as a person and cut ties with him nearly 25 years ago,” Reznor said in his statement to Pitchfork. “As I said at the time, the passage from Manson’s memoir is a complete fabrication. I was infuriated and offended back when it came out and remain so today.” December 2001 – Assault and sexual misconduct charge Manson was charged with assaulting security guard Joshua Keasler after he allegedly spit on the man’s head and rubbed his G-string-clad genital area on it during a concert at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan. He was accused of felony fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct along with misdemeanor assault and battery. Manson pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and received a $4,000 fine. He and the security guard eventually reached a settlement. April 2002 – Wrongful death lawsuit Following the death of actress Jennifer Syme, her mother Maria St. John sued Manson for wrongful death, alleging that he gave her drugs and encouraged her to drive while inebriated. On his website, Manson shared a statement, calling the accusations “completely false.” “Manson believes that the lawsuit is completely unfounded and is investigating an immediate counter-suit against St. John for slander, harassment and abuse of the legal process,” the statement read, according to Blabbermouth. “‘This lawsuit, which is completely without merit, will not bring back Jennifer’s life. It serves only to reopen the wounds and the pain felt by all who loved Jennifer. It is a pity that St. John sullies her own daughter’s reputation by filing this baseless claim.’” “After Manson and his five guests finished an evening at the movies followed by a quiet get-together at his home, he made sure Syme received a safe ride home from a designated driver and went to sleep,” the statement concluded. June 2009 – Spin interview Following his first breakup from Wood in 2007, Manson revealed to Spin in an extensive Q&A that he severely self-harmed following their split. He also shared violent thoughts about the then-22-year-old Wood, and how his song “I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies” is about the “fantasies” he had “every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer.” In November 2020, after Manson was asked about Wood’s domestic abuse testimonies in an interview with Metal Hammer, the singer hung up the phone. Manson’s team later released a statement claiming the “sledgehammer” comment was “obviously a theatrical rock star interview promoting a new record, and not a factual account. The fact that Evan and Manson got engaged six months after this interview would indicate that no one took this story literally.” July 2009 – Violent threats against music journalists In response to media scrutiny, Manson reportedly threatened music journalists in a since-deleted blog post. “I am far different than the soon-to-be-murdered-in-their-home press has decided to fabricate,” he wrote, according to The Guardian. “If one more ‘journalist’ makes a cavalier statement about me and my band, I will personally or with my fans’ help, greet them at their home and discover just how much they believe in their freedom of speech.” October 2017 – Twiggy Ramirez allegations Ramirez, Manson’s longtime bassist, was accused by Jack Off Jill singer Jessicka Addams of sexual and psychological abuse while they dated in the 1990s. Following the allegations, Ramirez (real name Jeordie White) was removed from Manson’s touring party. Manson said in a statement announcing the exit that he “knew nothing about these allegations until very recently and am saddened by Jessicka’s obvious distress.” In a statement to Pitchfork, Ramirez said that he had “only recently been made aware of these allegations from over 20 years ago,” and claimed, “I do not condone non-consensual sex of any kind.” February 2018 – Charlyne Yi’s allegations The House actress said in a since-deleted tweet that Manson was a “huge fan of the show,” and visited the cast while they were filming the final season, where he “harassed just about every woman asking us if we were going to scissor, rhino & called me a China man.” “I genuinely hope he gets help,” she continued. February 2018 – Wood testifies before Congress In an effort to secure a bill of rights for sexual assault survivors in all

What’s Your Favorite New Music Release of the Week?

With January wrapping up, today’s top artists are keeping the coldest season of the year hot with their latest music releases. Kicking off the new drops is Bruno Mars, who teamed up with Sexyy Red for a fun “strip club anthem” titled “Fat, Juicy & Wet.” “Fat, Juicy and Wet” is Bruno’s third recent collaboration, following the Hot 100-topping “Die With a Smile” with Lady Gaga and “APT.” with Rosé — and both women appeared in the song’s music video. The latter collab reached No. 5 on the Hot 100 and has spent 12 weeks atop the Billboard Global Excl. US chart. Travis Scott also unveiled “4×4” accompanied by a philanthropic initiative. Scott announced that 100% of the net proceeds from special merchandise—a shirt and zip hoodie honoring Los Angeles’ first responders—will benefit Direct Relief’s California Wildfire Response Fund. The 17-track LP features previously released singles “BAND4BAND” with Lil Baby, “Gen Z Luv” and “GBP,” featuring 21 Savage. The project also includes more collabs with Young Miko (“Gata”), Dave (“CRG”), Lil Durk (“Truth in the Lies”) and Skepta (“Ten”).  That’s just the tip of the iceberg. More music releases this week include Djo’s “Basic Being Basic,” Kane Brown’s The High Road, FKA Twigs’ Eusexua and Tate McRae’s “Sports Car.” Now, we want to know which one is your favorite. Sexyy Red & Bruno Mars, Travis Scott & More

Billboard’s Friday Music Guide serves as a handy guide to this Friday’s most essential releases — the key music that everyone will be talking about today, and that will be dominating playlists this weekend and beyond.  Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news This week, Bruno Mars gets sexy with Sexyy, Travis Scott delivers his stadium-sized new single and Central Cee proves that patience pays off. Check out all of this week’s picks below: Sexyy Red & Bruno Mars, “Fat Juicy & Wet”  Bruno Mars has scored a pair of recent smashes, “Die With a Smile” and “APT.,” by finding a midpoint between his pop sensibility and that of his respective collaborators, Lady Gaga and ROSÉ; with the audacious “Fat Juicy & Wet,” however, Mars fully enters the world of Sexyy Red, dropping a gleefully explicit anthem built around the rising pop star’s sexual innuendos and a club-pulverizing beat. Travis Scott, “4×4”  For his first solo track since 2023, Travis Scott builds on his maximalist aesthetic with “4×4,” which pairs orchestral heft with a pitch-shifted flow. Scott debuted “4×4,” which will help support California fire relief funds through CD single sales, at the College Football Playoff National Championship Game earlier this week, and the studio track earns its stadium debut. Central Cee, Can’t Rush Greatness  The title Can’t Rush Greatness nods to how long UK rapper Central Cee has been waiting for this crossover moment: after years of building hype, collecting collaborations and scoring increasingly bigger hits (culminating in “Band4Band,” last year’s team-up with Lil Baby), he now has a guest-packed, generally riveting debut full-length to call his own. FKA Twigs, Eusexua  A decade’s worth of FKA Twigs albums have been leading to Eusexua, the culmination of her experimental amalgamation of pop, R&B, electronic and club music that finds Twigs carving out accessible pathways for new listeners while remaining as daring as ever for longtime fans. The opening run of the title track, “Girl Feels Good” and “Perfect Stranger” is perhaps the most entrancing 10-minute stretch of music we’ve gotten so far in 2025. Tate McRae, “Sports Car”  Tate McRae has grown increasingly confident in her dance-pop formula since “Greedy” became the biggest hit of her career a little over a year ago, and while “Sports Car” crackles like her recent single releases, the whispered chorus elevates her latest, drawing the listener in before shoving them back out to dance. Teddy Swims, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)  “Lose Control” is a hard commercial bar to reach — the single did top Billboard’s year-end Hot 100, after all — so on his latest release, Teddy Swims wisely tries not to re-create his breakthrough smash, and instead flesh out some husky sing-alongs like “Guilty” and “Funeral,” as well as corral some new famous friends like Coco Jones, GloRilla and Giveon. Kane Brown, The High Road  As Kane Brown keeps cranking out crossover country hits — “Miles on It” with Marshmello was another top 20 smash last year — he concurrently continues telling stories that reach a wide listenership, and on new album The High Road, that includes heart-wrenched fare like the Jelly Roll duet “Haunted” as well as a pair of new collaborations with his wife, Katelyn Brown. Editor’s Pick: Djo, “Basic Being Basic”  “End of Beginning” became a well-deserved viral breakthrough for actor Joe Keery’s musical project Djo last year, and in 2025, things sound like they’re about to get stranger: “Basic Being Basic” is a lovably off-kilter new single, a callback to ‘80s synth-pop with a hook that highlights Keery’s upper register and lyrics that should launch a million TikTok lip synchs. Morgan Wallen’s ‘Love Somebody’ Is His 16th No. 1 on Country Airplay

Morgan Wallen earns his 16th No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart as “Love Somebody” lifts a spot to the top of the tally dated Feb. 1. The song, which he co-wrote, increased by 9% to 33.8 million audience impressions Jan. 17-23, according to Luminate. Dating to his first Country Airplay No. 1, “Up Down” (featuring Florida Georgia Line), in June 2018, the Sneedville, Tenn., native boasts the most leaders, surpassing Luke Combs’ 15 in that span. Wallen logged five Country Airplay No. 1s during 2025, giving him the honor of becoming the first artist to bank that many in a single year in the survey’s 35-year history. “Lies Lies Lies” led for a week last November, following “Cowgirls” (featuring Ernest; one week, July); Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help” (featuring Wallen; four weeks, June-July); “Man Made a Bar” (featuring Eric Church; one, April); and Thomas Rhett’s “Mamaw’s House” (featuring Wallen; one, March). “Love Somebody” – which debuted at No. 1 on the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart and the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 in November – “Lies Lies Lies” and Wallen’s latest single, “Smile,” are all stand-alone singles so far, ahead of his newly announced forthcoming album, I’m the Problem. “Smile” ascends 37-35 on the latest Country Airplay chart (3.5 million, up 24%). A ‘Damn Good’ Week Riley Green adds his fifth Country Airplay top 10 as “Damn Good Day to Leave” rises 11-10, up 12% to 16.3 million in audience. The 36-year-old from Jacksonville, Ala., earned his second No. 1 as featured on Ella Langley’s “You Look Like You Love Me,” which controlled the tally for a week in December. He last reached the top 10 as a lead artist with “Different ‘Round Here” (featuring Luke Combs), which hit No. 2 in February 2024. Source link

North West Raps on FKA Twigs’ New Album ‘Eusexua’ in Japanese: Listen

North West is saying konnichiwa to the next step in her music career, guesting on FKA Twigs’ new album, Eusexua, almost a year after she made her musical debut on dad Ye’s Vultures 1. The 11-year-old daughter of the artist formerly known as Kanye West and Kim Kardashian raps in Japanese on “Childlike Things” — the eighth song on the “Perfect Stranger” singer’s 11-track project, which dropped Friday (Jan. 24). Over an effervescent electronic dance beat, North cheerfully spits the following verse, as translated to English by Google: “Hello, my name is North/ From California to Tokyo/ Jesus the King/ Praise God/ Jesus is the only true God.” The Skims founder and Ye’s eldest daughter is also credited as a writer on the track. Kardashian made sure to promote the collaboration on her Instagram Story, sharing a link and writing proudly, “@fkatwigs ft NORTH out now!” “Childlike Things” marks North’s first official musical venture outside of her work with Ye, who duetted with his daughter on Vultures 1‘s “Talking” in February 2024. That August, the Yeezy founder dropped Vultures 2 featuring the tween on another song, “Bomb,” on which youngest daughter Chicago West also appears. Twigs has also previously worked with Ye, teaming up with the “Donda” rapper and Skrillex on Ty Dolla $ign’s “Ego Death” in 2020. North’s new project comes shortly after Ye revealed on Instagram that he’s been “training” his firstborn in his craft, sharing a video of himself giving the 11-year-old pointers on how to rap. “This little girl made me love music again,” he gushed in another post, captioning a photo of North sitting next to a keyboard. “She asked me to make beats for her I got back on the ASR,” he added Jan. 21. “Chopped up beats for her album and chopped every beats with my bare hand for BULLY.” Listen North rap in Japanese on “Childlike Things” below. 42 Dugg’s Funniest Sports and Gambling Tweets

The Detroit rapper live tweets games he bets on, and it’s usually some of the funniest content on X. 42 Dugg attends the 2024 BET Awards at Peacock Theater on June 30, 2024 in Los Angeles. Johnny Nunez/Getty Images for BET Sports gambling is the norm these days. We see ads everywhere featuring the latest betting app that tries to get new customers by promoting deals, boosts and things of that nature. And honestly, sports betting can be fun and exhilarating in healthy doses. It’s also a nice way to make a little pocket change if you have a knack for it even if over time you usually end up breaking even anyway. Some people don’t enjoy losing money while gambling, though: Lil Baby recently revealed that he once lost $8 million over the course of a day and decided to swear off gambling forever. One rapper that doesn’t have those feelings towards gambling happens to be Lil Baby’s Glass Window label signee Detroit rapper 42 Dugg. He loves sports betting, and his X timeline is one of the most entertaining things to follow along with when he’s watching a game he put money on. When the Detroit Lions suffered a stunning upset at the hands of the Washington Commanders, Dugg cursed his hometown quarterback Jared Goff to oblivion, but then he slept on it, and took everything he said back and congratulated Goff and the rest of the Lions for a great season. Those who sports bet can relate all too well. His funniest tweets, though, are when he bets on random college games — like when he picked the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team to beat the Georgia Bulldogs. In back-to-back tweets, he said that “they ain’t s–t” only to turn around and apologize after they won by three points and covered the spread. With the NFC and AFC Championship games coming up this weekend, we decided to curate a list of 42 Dugg’s funniest sports and gambling tweets — because we’re almost positive he’ll be live tweeting his ticket on Sunday afternoon. Check out our picks below. Merry Christmas, Russell Wilson The Steelers lost their third game in a row to the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day on Netflix — and Dugg must’ve had a prop bet on the Pittsburgh quarterback, who actually had the team’s only touchdown in a 29-10 loss. Jimmy Butler: Persona Non Grata Jimmy Butler, who may’ve worn out his welcome in Miami and shoul dbe on his way to another team any day now, left the Heat’s 104-97 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Dec. 20 in the first quarter because he was feeling sick. He only played seven minutes, scoring no points or grabbing any rebounds. Butler did manage to dish out a couple dimes, though. We’re assuming Dugg didn’t bet Butler under two assists. Thank You, Geno Smith The Seattle Seahawks beat the Chicago Bears on Dec. 26, but did not make the playoffs. Dugg’s prayers were answered. Jalen Milroe? Not a Fan A projected late-first-round pick is this upcoming NFL draft, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe didn’t end his college career on a high note. The Crimson Tide lost the ReliaQuest Bowl game 19-13 to the Michigan Wolverines, with Milroe throwing for 192 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He only rushed for seven yards and didn’t rush for a touchdowns, though. Milroe averaged 55 rushing yards this past season and rushed for 20 touchdowns. Might Be Time to Call That Number, Big Dawg This was the tweet and question where everyone started to worry about Dugg’s whimsical sports betting tweets. I’m glad I don’t really know what this means either. The Jared Goff Trilogy: Tweet 1 Detroit was hype for the Lions’ Divisional round game versus the Commanders, and rightfully so. Dugg probably had his buffs on and dressed in his Sunday best. Unfortunately, the Lions season ended early in a stunning loss. Goff threw three interceptions in a 45-31 L at home. The Jared Goff Trilogy: Tweet 2 Throwing three interceptions in the franchise’s most important playoff game in generations should earn you a diss song. The Jared Goff Trilogy: Tweet 3 The Lions finished the year with an impressive 15-2 record, the best regular season finish in the franchise’s 95 seasons. Goff was a big reason for that finish, even if Detroit has never won a Super Bowl — with their last championship coming in the pre-Super Bowl 1957 season, when they beat then-rookie running back Jim Brown and the Cleveland Browns 59-14. The Arkansas Sequel: Tweet 1 The Razorbacks must’ve been losing when he sent this tweet. However, they were able to pry victory from the clutches of defeat. (see next tweet) The Arkansas Sequel: Tweet 2 The Razorbacks beat Georgia by three and covered. All is well in the world. What a rush. Kanye West Claims He’s a Billionaire Again

Wait till he gets his money right. Ye — formerly known as Kanye West — claims he’s back in the billionaires club with an alleged net worth more than $2.7 billion. Yeezy took to his Instagram on Thursday (Jan. 23) to boast about the billionaire status allegedly done by business valuation company Eton Venture Services, which has him valued at a net worth of $2.77 billion. “In 2025, Ye’s net worth stands at $2.77 billion USD as confirmed by Eton Venture Services,” the rapper shared in a screengrab credited to EVS. “The valuation is based on his music portfolio and his sole ownership of the Yeezy mark.” (Billboard has reached out to Eton Venture Services for comment.) Ye was hyped up to hear about his latest reported net worth valuation, and quoted the intro to his “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” anthem off 2007’s Graduation in his caption. “LAA LA LA LA,” he wrote. Fans, peers and even Bay Area legend E-40 hopped into his comment section to salute him. However, Forbes‘ valuation doesn’t have Ye as a billionaire, as their estimates as of Friday (Jan. 24) have him at a $400 million net worth. He was previously in the Forbes’ billionaire club as of 2022, prior to a series of antisemitic remarks which led to brands such as Adidas, Balenciaga, Gap and Universal Music Group severing ties with the polarizing Chicago mogul. Even when Forbes had him as a billionaire in ’22, West challenged their estimates while claiming he was worth closer to $7 billion at the time. After being dropped by Adidas later that year, Forbes lowered Ye’s net worth to $400 million. If the new estimation from Eton is true, he will have passed his Watch the Throne collaborator and mentor Jay-Z as the richest rapper alive. Karri Talks Drake Cosign, Oakland Pt. 2 and ‘Late Night Slider Music’

For 21-year-old singer/songwriter Karri, he didn’t choose to learn the piano — his mother made him. “Filipino parents. They make you go to piano lessons, I’ll tell you that,” says the Bay Area star. “Dude, I had to do piano lessons until like eighth grade. [I’m] thankful, though, because I wish I would have kept going knowing what I know now.” Now, Karri is a thriving R&B freshman with major-league co-signs ranging from Drake to Lil Baby and Kehlani. After his song “3 AM in Oakland” bubbled into a sleeper hit on social media in 2023, Karri received a phone call from Drake’s right-hand, Chubbs, and soon after, landed a deal with his imprint PFL. Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news “I remember a mutual friend of ours texted me and said, ‘Drake and Chubbs heard your music,’” remembers Karri. “I was on the game, and I was like, ‘What are you talking about, bro?’ He was like, ‘Stay by your phone. He’s gonna call you.’ Chubbs called me, and that same night, I was at his studio playing music. From there, we just went to Toronto. Now Chubbs is like the big brother. I appreciate everything Chubbs has done for me so far. It’s only up from here.” Karri adopted Drake and Chubbs’ disciplined approach and buried himself in the studio, sometimes for long stretches, until he pieced together his debut project, Late Night Slider Music. Released last month, the six-track EP is a seamless fusion of Karri’s Bay Area roots and his profound admiration for Toronto’s moody R&B sonics. His crown jewel, “Oakland Pt. 2,” is the sequel to his 2023 hit, “3 AM in Oakland,” where his slow-burning “Lo N Slo” sound thrives. “Late Night Slider Music just felt like the perfect collection of songs you can play in a whip, smoking late night and cruising,” he says. “If you wanna pull up on someone late-night, play this sh-t. You wanna just be driving in the city, play this s–t.” Get more acquainted with Billboard’s January R&B Rookie of the Month, Karri, below, as he talks about linking up with Drake and Chubbs, his affinity for The Bay, his desire to grow as a songwriter, and more. What has been the most enjoyable part about your journey so far? Honestly, just making the new music and casting a vibe everywhere I’m at. I feel like every time I’m in a new place, it’s always a new vibe. I always make different vibes in different places. When I’m in the city, I make great music. When I’m in L.A., I make great music. When I’m in Houston, Toronto, or even the Philippines, everywhere I go, I make different vibes and curate them to where I’m at. You haven’t done too many interviews, and there’s hardly any information about you online. How would you break down your come-up story? I really wouldn’t be doing music if it wasn’t for my cousin Danny or my friend Joel. My cousin Danny used to pick me up from high school and I didn’t play basketball anymore. So he would pick me up, we’d go to my mom or auntie’s crib and he had the little recording setup in the closet. I would just go and record with him. It went from a hobby to “I’m kind of good with this. Let me keep going.” Did you get full support from your family when you decided to pursue music? At first, my mom was confused. I feel like she’s still confused. [Laughs.] She comes from the Philippines, so the way of life in the Philippines is a little bit different. She understands now. She’s proud. She just always worries about me, because she was a single mom growing up. Shout-out to my mom. She didn’t get it, but she does now. When did that moment for her click? Honestly, when I got the Drake DM. She was like, “OK.” When I dived into your catalog and listen to your earlier tracks like “Rosetta” and “Kiki,” it sounded like two different artists versus now. It gave me Lil Mosey vibes.  I was still in high school, bro. I was trying to figure it out. You know what’s crazy? When I was 15, 16, I was at my homie Isaiah’s house and I remember I was like, “If he can do it at this young age, I can do it.” What’s stopping me from trying to pursue this? It’s kind of crazy that you say that. Your big break came courtesy of your “3 AM in Oakland” record. When did you realize this had strong potential? There’s a funny story with that song. Originally, it was a Bay record. I did it in Oakland. The reason why it’s called “3 AM in Oakland,” is because I couldn’t think of a name for the song. I was like, “We’re in Oakland. It’s 3 AM.” Then, we actually didn’t have that slow-down piano [breakdown in the song]. I was in the studio with P-Lo one day in San Francisco. I went into the piano in the live room, played that, sang that song over and I was like, “This is kind of fire.” So I posted it, and the next video exploded. I was like, “Damn. I can finally do what I want in this R&B stuff.” I don’t have to worry. It was kind of cool. It just went. You mentioned P-Lo and he’s a huge pillar down in The Bay. Who were some people who supported you early on from the city? Growing up, HBK Gang. P-Lo, Iamsu!, [Kool] John, and Jay Ant. So them being my big bros now is kind of cool, because I grew up on their music — and honestly, it kind of inspires my sound. So for them to be the OGs — it’s kind of crazy calling them the OGs, ’cause they’re like 31 — it’s cool just having them
