Bryan Martin Apologizes After ‘Erratic’ Behavior at Concert

Country artist Bryan Martin has put his hand up after he was pulled off stage, intoxicated, and forcibly removed by police. Martin’s performance at Schaghticoke Fairgrounds on Friday night (Aug. 29) went south, and caused enough concern among fans and event organizers that the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office was notified. According to a statement from local police, Martin “displayed signs of intoxication and erratic behavior, which ultimately required him to be removed from the stage. Deputies and event staff attempted to assist Mr. Martin offstage, but due to his impaired state, he became resistant and had to be forcibly escorted out.” Explore See latest videos, charts and news The moment was captured on camera, and shows Martin lifted and removed from the site by a small team of officers. Martin later turned to social media to apologize for — and explain — his behavior. “Sorry I let yall down tonight… truth is I’m not ok… been hitting it hard for a while and haven’t took time to be honest with myself about my mental health and it’s nothing new to struggle with my anxiety and depression,” he writes in a post on Instagram. Martin continued, “I apologize for the bad days … but I’m grateful for the countless good nights we’ve shared this year. It’s been the most consistent streak I’ve seen in years.” He continued, “I’m not ever proud when I reach for another drink.” In the hours following the incident, reads the police report, Martin “acknowledged that he is struggling with alcoholism. This admission shifts the perspective from one of conflict to one of compassion.” The larger issue is “not the resistance we encountered—it is the battle Mr. Martin himself is facing,” reads a message from Sheriff Kyle Bourgault. “Addiction is a disease, and it requires both accountability and empathy.” The Louisiana native reportedly performed the following night at 290 Maine Street in Norway, ME. Martin, who is signed to Average Joes Records, has had hits including “We Ride,” which reached No. 3 on Billboard Country Airplay chart last year. The single also gave Martin his first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, entering at No. 96. Source link

Baylee Lynn’s ‘Cautiously Optimistic’ Voted Favorite New Music

Baylee Lynn’s debut single “Cautiously Optimistic” tops this week’s new music poll. In a poll published Friday (Aug. 29) on Billboard, music fans voted the 17-year-old singer-songwriter’s first-ever release as their favorite new track of the week. “Cautiously Optimistic” earned 64% of the vote, beating out fresh releases from artists like Sabrina Carpenter (Man’s Best Friend), Hayley Williams (Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party), Zach Top (Ain’t In It For My Health), and Blood Orange (Essex Honey). The Tennessee native’s debut, produced by AJ Pruis, is a country-pop anthem inspired by artists like Dolly Parton and Faith Hill that captures the emotional journey of navigating love after heartbreak. “When we wrote ‘Cautiously Optimistic,’ I envisioned this song being one that most teenage girls can relate to,” Lynn said in a statement. “I know what it’s like to be the girl who’s scared of letting her guard down because she fears being hurt again — but also what it’s like to be the girl who’s so good at ignoring all the red flags. I am beyond thrilled for this song to finally be out in the world!” The track was co-written by Lynn, Pruis, Kyle Sturrock and Brett Tyler. Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend took second place in the poll, pulling in 26% of the vote. The pop star’s seventh studio album, produced by Jack Antonoff, arrives just over a year after her Grammy-winning Short n’ Sweet, which topped the Billboard 200 for four weeks. Williams’ Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, a collection of previously released singles with a brand new song titled “Parachute,” came in third with nearly 4% of the vote. The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ Hits 5 Billion Streams on Spotify

The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” continues to make history. On Sunday (Aug. 31), Spotify announced on Instagram that the 2020 megahit has officially become the first song in the streaming platform’s history to hit five billion streams. Shortly after, The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) took to his Instagram Story to share the news with his 78 million followers. The new Spotify record follows another recent honor for the track. Just days earlier, “Blinding Lights” landed No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs of the 21st Century chart, which measures performance on the weekly Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart from the start of 2000 through the end of 2024. Originally released in November 2019 as the second single from The Weeknd’s fourth studio album, After Hours, “Blinding Lights” dominated the Billboard Hot 100 chart for four weeks and became the first song to remain in the top 10 for an entire year. In November 2021, it made history once again by surpassing Chubby Checker’s “The Twist” to top Billboard’s Greatest of All Time Hot 100 chart. In January 2024, “Blinding Lights” became the first to reach four billion streams on Spotify. “I’ll never stop being humbled by anything I create making its way to millions of people let alone billions!” The Weeknd said in an exclusive statement at the time. “I’m so thankful this song makes people feel a way that they keep going back to listen.” “Blinding Lights” is one of 28 songs by The Weeknd in Spotify’s Billions Club, more than any other artist. He also performed during Spotify’s first-ever Billions Club: Live concert in December. Check out Spotify’s “Blinding Lights” announcement on Instagram below. Fifth Harmony Sparks Reunion Rumors With First Post in Seven Years

Is a Fifth Harmony reunion on the horizon? On Sunday (Aug. 31), the girl group sent fans into a frenzy after posting on X for the first time in seven years. Fifth Harmony — now consisting of Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui and Dinah Jane following Camila Cabello’s 2016 departure — surprised their 4.2 million followers with a cryptic message. “#FifthHarmonyFollowSpree,” they wrote, marking their first post since wishing Brooke a happy birthday in July 2018. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Naturally, the mysterious update reignited excitement among the group’s devoted Harmonizers. “Are they hacked again or is this fr?” one fan wondered. Another wrote, “I don’t understand what’s happening… but I think I like it.” A third asked excitedly, “WAITTTT ARE Y’ALL REUNITING LIKE FR? IT WASNT JUST A RUMOR?” The speculation comes nearly a year after Brooke and Jane teased a possible reunion while walking the red carpet at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music event. “We’ll see… we’re not sure,” Brooke said when asked about getting the group back together. Jane added, “I love that our fans can reminisce on such good times and I love that we’re getting the credit again. Our music was very impactful at the time and I feel like it was kind of overlooked, to be honest. So now that it’s reviving again on its own it just shows our music speaks for itself.” Fifth Harmony first formed on the second season of the U.S. version of The X Factor in 2012. They rose to fame with their debut album, Reflection, in January 2015, which featured “Worth It,” their first top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The quintet reached even greater success with “Work From Home” featuring Ty Dolla $ign — the lead single from their sophomore album, 7/27 — which peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100 in June 2016. In December 2016, the group announced Cabello’s exit through social media. “After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony,” the other four members wrote. “We wish her well.” Cabello went on to launch a successful solo career, most recently releasing C,XOXO in 2024 — her first album under Geffen and Interscope after parting ways with Epic Records, which originally signed Fifth Harmony through a partnership with Simon Cowell’s Syco Music. C,XOXO debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200. Fifth Harmony officially disbanded in 2018, with the remaining members pursuing solo endeavors. In a November 2023 interview with Billboard, Brooke shared that a reunion isn’t off the table. “We’re women now and we have grown so much and we have done our own thing, gone our own ways and gone our own path. And now we’re together in a different light,” the singer said. “I’m trying to reunite with them, so I think some sort of reunion may happen.” Check out Fifth Harmony’s teaser post on X below. Stray Kids Earn Seventh No. 1 on Billboard 200 With ‘KARMA’

Stray Kids earn their seventh No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart as KARMA debuts atop the list dated Sept. 6. The set earned 313,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending Aug. 28, according to Luminate. Of that sum, traditional album sales comprise 296,000. Both figures mark career highs for the act. KARMA also lands the third-biggest week, by units, of 2025 among all albums, as well as the year’s second-largest sales week. All seven of the group’s Billboard 200 chart entries have debuted at No. 1, beginning with ODDINARY in 2022. Last year, when HOP debuted atop the list, Stray Kids became the first act to debut at No. 1 with their first six entries in the 69-year history of the chart. With KARMA’s arrival, they extend that record. The Billboard 200 began publishing on a regular, weekly basis in March 1956. In addition, with a seventh No. 1, Stray Kids surpass BTS, Linkin Park and Dave Matthews Band for the most No. 1s among groups on the Billboard 200 this century (since 2000). Also in the top 10 on the latest Billboard 200 chart, Laufey scores her first top 10 with the No. 4 arrival of A Matter of Time; Deftones land their seventh top 10 with the No. 5 bow of private music; Tyler, The Creator’s Cherry Bomb re-enters the chart at No. 6 following a 10th anniversary reissue; and BigXthaPlug notches his highest-charting effort yet with the No. 7 debut of I Hope You’re Happy. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Sept. 6, 2025-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Sept. 3, one day later than usual, owed to the Labor Day holiday on Sept. 1 in the U.S. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram. Of KARMA’s 313,000 first-week equivalent album units, album sales comprise 296,000 (it debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart), SEA units comprise 16,000 (equaling 23.12 million on-demand official streams of the sets songs; it debuts at No. 34 on Top Streaming Albums) and TEA units comprise 1,000. In 2025, the three largest weeks for albums, by units, are the opening frames of Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem (493,000), The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow (490,000)and KARMA (313,000). In traditional album sales, the two biggest weeks of 2025 belong to Hurry Up Tomorrow (359,000) and KARMA (296,000). KARMA’s album sales were aided by its availability across 11 CD variants and three vinyl variants (all containing collectible items such as photocards, with some items randomized), including signed editions. As KARMA is mostly in the Korean language, it is the 29th mostly non-English-language album to hit No. 1, and the second of 2025 (following Bad Bunny’s Spanish-language DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS). Four mostly non-English titles topped the list in 2024, and all were mostly Korean-language efforts. Of the 29 mostly non-English-language albums to reach No. 1, 19 are mostly Korean, six mostly (or all) Spanish, one mostly Italian, one entirely French and two mostly a blend of Spanish, Italian and French. The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack is a non-mover at No. 2, its peak, on the Billboard 200 with its best week yet: 125,000 equivalent album units earned (up 16%). The gain was boosted by the film’s sing-along release in movie theaters and on Netflix and the set’s arrival on CD. The CD was sold mostly via online retailers after only being available to purchase as a digital download previously. Album sales (across all configurations) totaled 18,000 for the week (up 236%). A wider release for the CD is due on Sept. 5. Further, KPop Demon Hunters has spent six nonconsecutive weeks at No. 2. It’s the first soundtrack in the modern era (since May 1991, when the chart began utilizing Luminate’s electronically monitored tracking information) to spend at least six weeks at No. 2 without reaching No. 1. Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem falls 1-3 after a dozen nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1, earning 116,000 equivalent album units in the latest tracking frame (down 4%). Laufey achieves her first top 10 album on the Billboard 200 as A Matter of Time debuts at No. 4 with 99,000 equivalent album units earned — her biggest week ever. Of that sum, album sales comprise 71,000 (her best sales week; it debuts at No. 2 on Top Album Sales), SEA units comprise 28,000 (equaling 38.57 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs; it debuts at No. 11 on Top Streaming Albums) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum. The set’s first-week sales were bolstered by its availability across eight vinyl and three CD variants (each with one signed edition) and a cassette. A Matter of Time is Laufey’s third studio album. The singer-songwriter’s second effort, 2023’s Bewitched, reached No. 18 in 2024, won a Grammy for best traditional pop vocal album and has earned over 950,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. A Matter of Time marks the highest-debuting jazz album on the Billboard 200 since the Dec. 1, 2018-dated chart, with Michael Bublé’s Love debuted and peaked at No. 2. (Jazz albums are defined as those that are eligible for, or have charted on, Billboard’s Top Jazz Albums chart.) Deftones score their seventh top 10 effort on the Billboard 200 as private music premieres at No. 5 with 87,000 equivalent album units earned — the band’s best week by units. Of that starting sum, album sales comprise 66,000 (the group’s largest sales week since 2016’s Gore bowed with 69,000; private music starts at No. 3

Snoop Dogg Addresses Backlash Over ‘Lightyear’ LGBTQ+ Comments

Snoop Dogg is speaking out after facing backlash for his recent remarks about LGBTQ+ representation in children’s movies. On Wednesday (Aug. 27), the 53-year-old rapper addressed the controversy in the comments section of a Hollywood Unlocked Instagram post, where media personality T.S. Madison had criticized him for his reaction to a same-sex couple depicted in the 2022 animated film Lightyear. “I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons,” Snoop wrote. “All my gay friends [know] what’s up they been calling me with love .” He added, “My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 yr old … teach me how to learn I’m not perfect.” Snoop’s comments came days after he appeared on the Aug. 20 episode of Dr. Sarah Fontenot’s It’s Giving podcast, where he recalled taking his grandson to see Lightyear. During the film, he discovered that one of the female characters was in a same-sex marriage and had children with her wife. “Why my grandson in the middle of the movie like, ‘Papa Snoop, how she have a baby with a woman? She a woman,’” Snoop recounted. “I didn’t come here for this s-t, I just came to watch the goddamn movie.” The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper continued, “So it’s like, f—k me, I’m scared to go to the movies now. Like, y’all throwing me in the middle of s—t that I don’t have an answer for,” Snoop said. “It threw me for a loop. We have to show that at this age? Like, they’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.” His remarks sparked swift backlash online, with many accusing him of being homophobic. Among those who responded was Lightyear writer Lauren Gunderson, who addressed the controversy in a Threads post on Aug. 27. “As we wrote early versions of what became LIGHTYEAR, a key character needed a partner, and it was so natural to write ‘she’ instead of ‘he,’” Gunderson wrote. “As small as that detail is in the film, I knew the representational effect it could have. Small line, big deal. I was elated that they kept it.” The writer continued, “I had very little to do with the final script. But I was proud to see a happy queer couple (even for a few seconds) onscreen. I know they got a lot of s—t for this inclusion, but stuff like this matters because beautiful love like this exists.” Lightyear features a brief scene in which Alisha, a central character, is revealed to be queer and in a committed relationship with another woman. The two share a kiss, a moment that led to the film being banned in several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The scene also drew criticism from right-wing political figures in the United States, who accused Disney of promoting a “pro-LGBTQ+ agenda.” Source link

Shakira Invites Belinda to Sing ‘Dia de enero’ at Mexico Concert

Belinda surprised Shakira fans who attended the Colombian superstar’s eleventh concert on Saturday (Aug. 30) at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City. The Mexican singer joined Shakira on stage to perform the iconic ballad “Día de Enero” together, creating one of the most emotional moments of Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran international tour. The Mexican pop star became the second female guest artist of the tour, following fellow Mexican singer Danna’s appearance earlier that week (August 26) during the kick-off of the second leg of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour in the Mexican capital. “Tonight, I have the pleasure of singing with someone who is a true example of hard work, perseverance, talent, and beauty,” Shakira said while introducing Belinda to the 65,000 fans who packed the venue, according to promoter OCESA. Belinda, dressed in a shiny silver crop top, white fringe pants, and platform shoes, joined Shakira during the acoustic segment of the show to sing the heartfelt track. The song, originally dedicated to Shakira’s ex-partner Antonio de la Rúa, is from her 2005 album, Fijación Oral Vol. 1. This special version of “Día de Enero” blended Belinda’s soft and sweet vocals with Shakira’s signature melancholic touch, making for a moving duet. Shakira hadn’t performed the song live since 2007, but it made its way back into her setlist on Aug. 11, when she began the second leg of the tour in Tijuana, Mexico. Belinda and Shakira’s friendship appears to have grown closer since they were spotted together at a party thrown by Venezuelan singer and content creator Lele Pons in Miami in 2024, a celebration of Shakira’s track “Soltera” whose guests included Danna and Kenia OS. At the end of Saturday night’s performance, an emotional Belinda knelt down as a sign of respect and gratitude toward Shakira. “I love you. Thank you for this opportunity — I’ll never forget it. We love you!” the 36-year-old artist said, visibly moved. Shakira responded by kneeling alongside her and embracing her warmly, as the crowd erupted in applause. Shakira will continue her tour in Mexico, where she is scheduled to complete 17 shows as part of the second leg of Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. She is set to return to Estadio GNP Seguros on Sept. 18, where she will make history as the first artist ever to perform 12 concerts from the same tour at the iconic venue (formerly known as Foro Sol). Camila Cabello Covers Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’ on Piano in Australia

Camila Cabello surprised fans with a piano-ballad rendition of “Torn,” the single that became Natalie Imbruglia’s breakthrough hit on U.S. radio in 1998, at a pair of shows in Australia this week (Aug. 27 and 30). Explore See latest videos, charts and news Melbourne and Sydney, two of the final stops on Cabello’s Yours, C Tour — the C,XOXO singer has a Sept. 14 concert slated for São Paulo, Brazil — were a fitting setting to cover “Torn,” recorded by the Australian-born Imbruglia for her 1997 debut studio album, Left of the Middle. Seated at the piano at both gigs, Cabello channeled the sincerity of Imbruglia’s vocal performance on “Torn, and on Saturday night shared a video of one of her performances on X. “when in australia… you have to sing torn,” Cabello captioned the clip. “ily natalie imbruglia & ily australia.” Imbruglia’s “Torn” soared to No. 1 on a trio of Billboard charts (Radio Songs, Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay) in 1998, and peaked at No. 42 on the Hot 100. She was nominated for a Grammy for best female pop vocal performance for “Torn,” but ultimately lost to Celine Dion and her inescapable “My Heart Will Go On.” Though Imbruglia’s take on “Torn” is the one most pop fans know, it was actually a cover for her, too — as the song was first released by the band Ednaswap in 1995. Imbruglia’s released a total of six albums throughout her career, with 2021’s Firebird being her most recent. She performed under the guise of “Bluebell” on The Masked Singer last year. Tucanes de Tijuana, Chalino Sánchez Together on ‘Rigo Campos’

Chalino Sánchez, the “King of Corridos,” would have turned 65 on Aug. 30. While his tragic murder in May 1992 ended his life, his musical legacy continues to thrive. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Thanks to technology, some of his timeless recordings are being brought back to life through collaborations with other artists. Fifteen of Sánchez’s tracks, owned by Cintas Acuario — a label based in Long Beach, California — are being reimagined for a new project. “I bought the songs from him; they’re mine. That’s how we did business,” Pedro Rivera, owner of the label, shared exclusively with Billboard Español. (Rivera is the father of regional Mexican music stars Lupillo Rivera and the late Jenni Rivera.) “We respected each other deeply. Chalino was one of the most loyal men I’ve ever met — he always kept his word.” The first release from this project is “Rigo Campos,” a song written more than 30 years ago by Mario Quintero, the lead singer of Los Tucanes de Tijuana. Chalino recorded his own version back in the day, but the two never met in person. Now, through the magic of technology, they’re singing together in a music video that premiered on Thursday, Aug. 28. “It took over three years from the first meeting to today’s release,” Quintero, thrilled by the song’s reception, told Billboard Español. It has already become a trending topic in Mexico. “Unfortunately, I never got the chance to meet Chalino… [But] technology made it possible for Los Tucanes and Chalino to appear together in the video as if he were still here.” Sánchez rose to fame in the late ’80s and early ’90s with his corridos in the California music scene. His raw, unpolished voice and straightforward style resonated with migrant communities and working-class listeners. Songs like “Nieves de Enero,” “Alma Enamorada” and “Baraja de Oro” became classics. On May 16, 1992, he was murdered in Culiacán, Sinaloa, after a performance. He was only 31 years old. Quintero, who as the leader of Los Tucanes heads one of the most respected norteño and corrido groups in the market, spoke to Billboard Español about “Rigo Campos,” the current restrictions on corridos in Mexico, and even a possible World Cup anthem in the works: Billboard Español: What are the Origins of “Rigo Campos”? Quintero: The song is based on a well-known event in Tijuana, I think it was around 1991. It was talked about a lot on the news in both Mexico and the U.S. Back then, we were just starting out, and even to this day, I draw inspiration from real-life events. I wrote the song, and it became popular locally. I used to go to record stores to check out new releases and see if anyone had recorded one of my songs. One day, I was surprised to find the song on a cassette by Chalino Sánchez. I remember opening it and seeing that it credited him as the author. My excitement immediately turned to disappointment. Turns out, he had heard it from us, liked it and recorded it with Cintas Acuario. The song was already registered to me, so we cleared everything up. How did this particular collaboration come about? Juan Rivera [Pedro Rivera’s son] reached out to invite me to take part in this album they’re producing with Chalino’s songs. I thought it was such an exciting idea, and of course, I was honored to include my song. It took over three years from our first meeting to now releasing “Rigo Campos.” We’re overjoyed with the public’s response. Unfortunately, I never got to meet Chalino. There was this one time he had a press conference in Tijuana, but we were busy working and couldn’t go. I had wanted to thank him for recording my song, but the opportunity never came up. Now, through technology, we were able to bring him back to life in the video, and it’s as if he’s really there with us. It was a huge effort by the teams at Cintas Acuario and Master Q Music to make it happen. The hardest part was bringing Chalino’s essence into the present, but they nailed it. Why do you think Chalino’s legacy endures so many years after his death? Chalino had this unique ability to take well-known songs and make them his own with his distinctive style. That’s what made him so successful. Of course, he was also heavily criticized, but people couldn’t ignore his authenticity. He wasn’t trying to imitate anyone — he was born to be an original, and that’s why he’s still such a massive influence in norteño and banda music. Producing this song was such a fulfilling experience. Listening to his voice straight from the original tapes, you realize how powerful it was. He didn’t need backing vocals; he was naturally in tune and simply incredible. Back then, there wasn’t the technology we have now, so hearing him sing was truly special. Recording this duet with him now feels like a dream come true. It didn’t happen before, but it’s happening now — and that’s what matters. What do you think of the current bands and restrictions of corridos in Mexico? We love corridos, but we also respect the rules in every place we perform. We understand the situation. The problem isn’t with corridos themselves; there are broader social issues at play. I think the authorities have good intentions, and we always follow any rules or restrictions. For example, at our recent show at the Auditorio Telmex in Guadalajara, we weren’t allowed to perform any corridos. Of course, some fans wanted to hear them, but we respect the law. At the end of the day, the law is the law, and we have to follow it as citizens. Where we’re allowed to perform corridos, we will. Where we’re not, we’ll just play “La Chona” three times, or “El Tucanazo,” or “Me Gusta Vivir de Noche.” We’ve got plenty of songs in our repertoire. Speaking about “La Chona,” it’s
