Cradle of Filth Singer Breaks Silence on Bandmates’ ‘Damaging’ Claims

Following the departure of two band members, Cradle of Filth singer Dani Filth took to his Instagram over the weekend to respond to the recent shock exits of keyboardist Zoë M. Federoff and her husband, guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda. “After a long day of reflection on the road, I want to make one final statement about recent events,” wrote Filth. “First, I’ll acknowledge that in my last message I let fatigue and frustration steer me into sharing more personal detail than was probably necessary. For that, I apologise. The truth of my account remains, but out of respect for everyone involved, I will not be commenting further on personal matters in public.” In the earlier, much lengthier post he was referring to, Filth apologized for taking so long to respond, noting that the band is currently on tour in South America. Among the matters he addressed was a seemingly disputed contract he described as not final but a “framework” to built upon, as well as claims that the band prohibits members from working on outside projects. He also claimed that “heavy drinking, escalating arguments and repeated public disputes created a very disruptive atmosphere for everyone” during the first few days of the South American tour, claiming that he witnessed “heated exchanges” between Federoff and Šmerda, including in front of fans gathered for autographs in a hotel lobby. The post included other personal details about the couple as well as praise for the band’s management team at The Oracle, who he said have been, “nothing short of wonderful. Caring and understanding, relinquishing commissions to make tours work and working closely with the band to deliver us some amazing opportunities.” In the follow-up statement on Monday (Sept. 1) Filth (born Daniel Lloyd Davey), also addressed the claims of “theft” and “exploitation” Šmerda made against the band and its management. “These allegations are false and damaging. We maintain clear records that show otherwise, and any dispute will be dealt with properly, not through trial by social media,” he said; at press time spokespeople for the band had not returned Billboard‘s request for comment on the split or Filth’s statement. The singer then got personal, noting that both Federoff and Šmerda are aware that his mother is “currently battling stage 4 cancer — a fight that takes all her strength. She has seen the wave of online attacks aimed at me, and it has only added to her distress. Whatever else is said, I hope we can all agree that dragging families into this storm is a cruelty none of us should wish on another.” Filth said that, despite all the rancor, he wishes the couple well. “We shared great times together, and I’ll always be grateful for those memories. But I won’t let unfounded slander define this band or diminish the work we’ve put into it,” he wrote. Šmerda took several shots at his former band just days after Federoff announced her departure from the British black metal group in the midst of their South American tour. “I ask you to please respect my wife and myself in this transitional period. I am indeed leaving Cradle of Filth at the end of this current tour, and the reasons behind this are conclusions my wife and I came together at long before this week. We simply do not feel like Cradle can provide for our future, and in fact hinders it,” Šmerda wrote on Facebook on Tuesday (Aug. 26). “Among other reasons it is a lot of work for relatively low pay, the stress is quite high, and we haven’t felt for a while like this band actually prioritizing/caring about members. It has been years of unprofessional behavior from people above us that led to our decision.” Šmerda’s announcement came two days after Federoff announced her departure after less than three years. “It is with deep regret I share that for personal reasons I am unable to continue this tour and continue in general with Cradle of Filth,” wrote Federoff. “Please respect my privacy and my family’s privacy. I will answer no further questions. Be kind to my successor. I wish her and my now former bandmates well.” Along with announcing his plan to depart after the tour wraps later this month, Šmerda, who joined the band in 2014, took a shot at CoF’s long-delayed collaboration with Ed Sheeran. “I have also asked all compositions of mine removed from upcoming releases including Ed Sheeran collab,” Šmerda wrote. “This song feels like foolish clown antics for me at this point anyways- first it was charity single for kids, then for profit single, then on next album, and now who knows and I just do not want to be involved anymore, no disrespect to Ed Sheeran.” Cradle of Filth announced after Šmerda’s post that he would not be performing with the group on the remainder of the tour and would promptly be replaced. “Despite all attempts to illegally defame and derail the band, Cradle Of Filth WILL NOT cancel any of our South American shows, though fans will have to bear with us being a band with only one guitarist live, that is of course until Ashok’s temporary replacement is flown out to join the tour in a few days time,” the band said. “Thank you for your understanding in this horrible matter, we are all in a state of shock over proceedings and will share our side to these unfortunate events in due course,” they added at the time. “Please, respect our decision to part with Ashok now rather than at the end of the tour and avoid speculation as more clarity on the situation will be provided.”    Source link

Lil Nas X’s Dad Says Music Industry Pressure Led to Son’s Arrest

Lil Nas X‘s father says that the intense pressure of fame is partly to blame for his son’s recent arrest. Robert Stafford told London’s The Times that the Aug. 21 incident in which the 26-year-old “Industry Baby” MC was found wandering naked around Los Angeles, allegedly charging at police officers when they tried to take him into custody, was a reaction to the pressure cooker of being in the spotlight. Explore See latest videos, charts and news “I understand how the music business is,” said Lil Nas’ dad, 56, a gospel singer from Atlanta. “It’s like a high. When you get to that level, you want that drug again, you want to hit that high again.” The performer born Montero Lamar Hill, was arrested and charged with four felonies last month, pleading not guilty to three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. Police claimed that on the morning of Aug. 21, Lil Nas was found wandering naked around Los Angeles in only cowboy boots, and when law enforcement arrived on the scene, he allegedly “charged at officers and was taken into custody.” Police transported him to a local hospital for a suspected overdose before booking the rapper and holding him in jail over the weekend. He was subsequently released on $75,000 bond — conditioned on him attending drug treatment — and, if convicted, is facing five years in prison. Stafford said the intense pressure to follow up the early success of record-setting debut single “Old Town Road” weighed on Lil Nas X, as well as the strain of trying to provide for his family. “For a 26-year-old to have to deal with what he’s dealing with — to be a breadwinner for a lot of people, the inability to change his mother’s situation and the pressure he puts on himself,” said Stafford, reportedly referring to the addiction struggle of the rapper’s mom, Tameka Hill, who he said has so far resisted her son’s offers for help. “That can weigh heavily on your heart,” said Stafford, who lamented that his son’s “worst moment” was caught on film and shared around the world due to Lil Nas’ celebrity. Stafford said he immediately flew to Los Angeles to support Lil Nas, crying when he saw his son in a jail jumpsuit behind glass. “I went to visit him in jail and as soon as I walked through that door, I couldn’t do anything but cry,” Stafford said. “To see my baby boy on the other side of that glass. We shed tears with each other for a minute. And I had to tell him that ‘what you’re going through is normal.’ We all have breakdowns every now and then, but the difference is, yours get played out in the public eye.” Stafford said it was distressing to see the footage of his son’s public meltdown, though it made him think “that’s not even him” as it became clear to him that his son was suffering. “When I went to visit he asked me to say, ‘tell everybody I’m sorry they saw me like that’. Even in that moment, he was apologizing to people for something he was going through,” Stafford told the paper. Lil Nas hopped on Instagram last week days after the incident, describing the arrest as “terrifying,” but assuring fans that “your girl is gonna be alright.” Stafford agrees, telling The Times that he believes his son will recover and that the arrest was a wake-up call. “Hopefully, this is a turning point in his mental stability,” he said. “Sometimes God will take you through your worst moment to give you your best moment.”    Source link

P!nk Got An E Coli Infection on Vacation

What’s a summer vacation without a little stomach churn? P!nk shared over the weekend that she took a holiday recently and got hit with a nasty bug that almost derailed her plans. “When you go on vacation and have food and E coli decides to move into your gut you kill it with friends and red wine. and a vitamin IV concoction,” she wrote on Instagram in a post that accompanied a picture of P!nk relaxing on a couch sipping wine while hooked up to a drip bag filled with fluids. The slide was overlaid with the message “This is all normal and everything is going really well,” as well as the caption, “Ahhh life and lemons and lemonade and great memories that I might remember.” According to the Cleveland Clinic, E. coli is a “group of bacteria that can cause infections in your gut (GI tract), urinary tract and other parts of your body. Most of the time, it can live in your gut without hurting you. But some strains can make you sick with watery diarrhea, vomiting and a fever.” Last month, P!nk took to Instagram to clear up a few rumors, including the fake news that she has a song coming out title “Gorilla.” Speaking directly to camera, the singer said, “I mean I wish I did, I’m so curious,” she said about the made-up track. “I’m not singing for football games… or people… fans? I dunno, football fans at a football game? I dunno. It’s not happening, these are all fake stories.” P!nk is taking a well-deserved break after her 2023-2024 Summer Carnival world tour earned nearly $700 million and sold more than 4.8 million tickets across 128 shows.    Get weekly rundowns straight to your inbox Sign Up Source link

The Luton-born singer released “Stargazing” in May 2024, which has since topped a billion streams and peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100, and No. 4 on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart. Earlier this year, Smith collected the BRITs Rising Star Award, a prize previously won by Adele and Sam Fender, and he supported Ed Sheeran on his Mathematics tour. Smith will be joined by the The Line-Up Choir, a Dublin-based contemporary group during his performance. Speaking exclusively to Billboard, the 27-year-old said, “It has been an incredible year for me so far, and now to be on a stage like this is insane. Performing at the first-ever regular NFL season game in Dublin, in such an iconic venue, feels like another major milestone. It’s an honor to be alongside so many other amazing performers, both from Ireland and around the world. I can’t wait to bring my music to such a massive stage and share this experience with those in the stadium and watching around the world.” Lyra, the Cork-born singer-songwriter, will perform Ireland’s national anthem prior to the game’s kick-off; her self-titled LP reached No. 1 on the Irish Albums Chart in April 2024. “As an Irish singer, standing at the center of Croke Park, singing in front of my fellow Irish and visitors from around the world, fills me with immense pride,” Lyra said. “I am deeply grateful to the NFL for giving me the opportunity to represent my homeland at such a momentous occasion. To be part of such an iconic moment, as the NFL makes history with its first regular-season game in Ireland, is an honor I will carry in my heart forever.” The 82,000-capacity stadium has hosted NFL football in the past, with the pre-season “American Bowl” between the Steelers and the Chicago Bears being played in 1997. In recent years, the city’s Avivia Stadium has hosted a number of college football games.  Croke Park is a popular spot for large concerts with Oasis, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen and AC/DC all playing the ground in recent years. The stadium is home to the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) and hosts Gaelic football and hurling matches. The 2025 NFL season will kick off on Thursday (Sept. 4) when the Dallas Cowboys visit the Philadelphia Eagles, winners of the most-recent Super Bowl back in February. Sabrina Carpenter Shares New Alternate Ending for ‘Tears’ Video

Sabrina Carpenter is rewriting the chilling ending to her Rocky Horror-inspired “Tears” music video. On Friday (Aug. 29), the 26-year-old pop star released the original version of her haunting “Tears” video, coinciding with the drop of her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend. The nearly five-minute clip follows Carpenter as she recovers from a car accident that appears to have killed her traveling companion. Alone and disoriented, she stumbles upon a creepy, isolated house. Inside, she discovers a world of sex and hedonism, evoking the cult classic horror musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The video culminates with Carpenter ending the life of her presumed-dead lover. “Wait, no, you died earlier, I thought? It’s a thing, someone has to die every video,” she says, as she throws a stiletto into his chest. “I’m sorry. We’ll always remember you, though.” On Monday (Sept. 1), Carpenter teased “a new ending” to the “Tears” video on her Instagram Story, sharing a link to the clip on YouTube. In this alternate conclusion, her traveling partner meets yet another grisly fate. After Carpenter is ejected from the eerie house, she looks up to see the man emerging from the woods. “Babe, I’m so glad you’re okay,” he says, limping and coughing. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.” Suddenly, lightning strikes as he jitters with sparks and nervous laughter. Carpenter warns him to move aside as a cracking sound approaches. Before he can react, a tree crashes down on him. “I told him to move over,” she says, standing and grabbing her hat. The video also features Academy Award-nominated actor Coleman Domingo in drag and accompanies Man’s Best Friend, Carpenter’s Jack Antonoff-produced follow-up to 2024’s Short n’ Sweet, which spent four weeks atop the Billboard 200. Camila Cabello Reacts to Fifth Harmony’s Reunion After Seven Years

Camila Cabello is showing love to Fifth Harmony following her former group’s surprise reunion. On Sunday (Aug. 31), the girl group — now comprising Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui and Dinah Jane — surprised fans by reuniting onstage for the first time in seven years during the Jonas Brothers’ concert at Dallas’ Dos Equis Pavilion. After the performance, Fifth Harmony shared a clip on Instagram of themselves performing their 2015 hit “Worth It,” which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. Cabello, who exited the group in late 2016 to launch her solo career, showed her support in the comments by posting four red heart emojis in a subtle but heartfelt nod to her former bandmates. The reunion wasn’t entirely out of the blue. In the hours leading up to the performance, 5H sparked speculation by sharing their first social media post since 2018. “#FifthHarmonyFollowSpree,” the group wrote on X prompting Harmonizers to theorize that something big was coming. Reunion rumors have been circulating for months. In March, both Brooke and Jane hinted at the possibility during an interview at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music event. “We’ll see… we’re not sure,” Brooke said when asked about reuniting. Jane added, “I love that our fans can reminisce on such good times and I love that we’re getting the credit again. Our music was very impactful at the time and I feel like it was kind of overlooked, to be honest. So now that it’s reviving again on its own it just shows our music speaks for itself.” Fifth Harmony came together in 2012 on season two of the U.S. edition of The X Factor. The group rose to fame with their debut album, Reflection, in 2015, which included “Worth It,” their first top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their success continued with “Work From Home” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, which peaked at No. 4 on the chart in June 2016. In December 2016, the group announced Cabello’s departure through social media. “After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony,” the group’s remaining members wrote. “We wish her well.” Cabello went on to launch a successful solo career, most recently releasing 2024’s C,XOXO, which debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200. Over the years, she’s also topped the Hot 100 with “Havana” featuring Young Thug and “Señorita” with ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes. Fifth Harmony officially disbanded in 2018, with each member pursuing various solo projects. Source link

Taylor Swift’s ‘Showgirl’ Breaks Spotify Pre-Saved Album Record

Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl is already breaking Spotify records weeks ahead of its release. On Sunday (Aug. 31), the 35-year-old pop icon’s upcoming release became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify history. The previous record was held by Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department in 2024. The streaming giant shared the news Monday morning on its official Instagram and X accounts. Spotify’s Countdown Page for The Life of a Showgirl launched on Aug. 14, accompanied by an exclusive playlist titled And, baby, that’s show business for you, a curated selection of 22 previously released tracks produced by the singer’s longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback. This achievement marks yet another milestone in Swift’s long-standing dominance on Spotify. Over the years, she has shattered numerous streaming records, including becoming the platform’s most-streamed artist of 2024 with more than 26.6 billion global streams. Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl on Aug. 12, just eight months after wrapping her blockbuster Eras Tour. The surprise reveal came during an appearance on New Heights — the podcast hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce — where she shared the album’s title in a teaser clip posted to the show’s social media accounts ahead of the full episode’s release. The Life of a Showgirl, Swift’s 12th studio album, is set to arrive on Oct. 3 and will feature 12 new tracks produced by Max Martin and Shellback. Her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department, dropped in April 2024 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with the biggest opening week of her career. The project went on to spend 17 nonconsecutive weeks atop the chart and earned Swift her seventh nomination for album of the year at the Grammys. Fifth Harmony Reunites During Jonas Brothers Concert

Fifth Harmony is officially back. On Sunday (Aug. 31), the girl group — now made up of Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui and Dinah Jane, following Camila Cabello’s 2016 exit — reunited on stage for the first time in seven years. The surprise moment happened during the Jonas Brothers’ JONAS20: Greetings from Your Hometown tour stop at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas. Dressed in all-black outfits, the four-piece performed their 2015 hit “Worth It,” which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The performance was streamed live on Samsung TV Plus. Explore See latest videos, charts and news “Y’all remember Fifth Harmony,” Normani told the crowd. The group later posted a video of the reunion on Instagram, writing, “Where were you on August 31, 2025? Thank you @jonasbrothers for having us. Felt amazing to be back.” “That was special!” Brooke wrote in the comments. The Jonas Brothers also showed love, sharing a clip on Instagram of the performance and writing, “An honor to have our friends @fifthharmony up on stage tonight in Dallas on the Greetings From Your Hometown Tour.” Fans had already been speculating something big was coming after Fifth Harmony’s official X account posted for the first time in seven years earlier that day. “#FifthHarmonyFollowSpree,” the group wrote, marking their first post on the platform since July 2018. Reunion rumors have been floating around for months. Back in March, Brooke and Jane teased the idea during an interview at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music event. “We’ll see… we’re not sure,” Brooke said when asked about a reunion. Jane added, “I love that our fans can reminisce on such good times and I love that we’re getting the credit again. Our music was very impactful at the time and I feel like it was kind of overlooked, to be honest. So now that it’s reviving again on its own it just shows our music speaks for itself.” Fifth Harmony first came together on the second season of the U.S. version of The X Factor in 2012 and found success with their debut album, Reflection, and hits like “Worth It” and “Work From Home” (featuring Ty Dolla $ign), the latter of which hit No. 4 on the Hot 100 in 2016. Cabello left the group in late 2016, and Fifth Harmony eventually went on hiatus in 2018 to focus on solo projects. Since then, each member has explored their own path, but as Brooke hinted in a 2023 interview with Billboard, the door to a reunion has always been open. “We’re women now and we have grown so much and we have done our own thing, gone our own ways and gone our own path. And now we’re together in a different light,” the singer said. “I’m trying to reunite with them, so I think some sort of reunion may happen.” Source link

Barry Manilow Announces New ‘Last Last’ U.K. Farewell Concerts

Little over a year since his farewell concerts in the U.K. in June 2024, Barry Manilow has performed a u-turn and announced a new run of Last Last run of concerts for 2026. The “Copacabana” singer will return to U.K. for a six-night tour that takes in arenas in Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Cardiff, Birmingham and London (June 9-17, 2026). Tickets go on sale on Sep. 5 at 10 a.m. local time. See the full run of dates below. Manilow played 15 sold-out concerts at the London Palladium in May and June 2024, and has performed a number of “final” concerts in U.S. cities throughout 2025 including Boston, Philadelphia, Oakland and Sacramento. He hosts a regular residency in Las Vegas, which continues through 2026. Speaking on the news of his return to the U.K., Manilow shared a statement outlining his decision to return to the U.K. He wrote, “I swear, I SWEAR I really meant it when I said goodbye to everyone in the UK on the last night of our fantastic run at the great London Palladium. The audiences there were fantastic as usual and that last night was very moving, knowing that I wouldn’t be seeing my U.K. friends anymore.” The 82-year-old continued, “It was odd flying home because I wasn’t tired, my voice had held up for the entire run and each show was more exciting than the last. I wasn’t even out of breath at the end of each show. But I guess ‘leave ‘em wanting more’ was a good rule to follow. After all, I’m 100-years-old and any day now I’m probably going to lose my hair, gain a big pot belly and need a cane to dance around to ‘Copacabana.’” “But, as of now I can still run around the stage, I can still hit the high F Natural at the end of ‘Even Now’ and I still look fabulous! But I said goodbye and I meant it. Sort of. There was just one thing. I don’t wanna say goodbye! So we’re coming back. We’re going to have a great, big Barry Manilow concert! Hope you all come. We’ll have a ball! Love, Barry” During his extensive career, Manilow has earned 13 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, including “I Write the Songs,” “Looks Like We Made It” and “Mandy.” All three of those songs also topped the Hot 100. He released his most recent studio album Night Songs II in February 2020. Barry Manilow U.K. 2026 tour dates June 9 – Glasgow, Scotland @ OVO Hydro June 11 – Leeds, England @ First Direct Bank Arena June 13 – Liverpool, England @ M&S Bank Arena June 14 – Cardiff, Wales @ Utilita Arena Cardiff June 16 – Birmingham, England @ bp pulse LIVE June 17 – London, England @ The O2 Arena Source link

Oasis New York Show at MetLife Stadium: Review & Best Moments

The Brothers Gallagher played their first show in the New York area since 2008 on Sunday (Aug. 31), and were clearly a little overwhelmed by the experience. 9/1/2025 Oasis Simon Emmett/Press “Nobody has fans like this. Nobody.” Whether or not it was technically true, Noel Gallagher’s pre-encore observation about the tens of thousands who packed into East Rutherford, New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Sunday night (Aug. 31) to see Oasis‘ first gig in the New York area (the entire East Coast, really) since 2008 couldn’t be considered much of an exaggeration. For two months now, Oasis fans new and old have been swarming major cities one at a time at a level rarely seen outside of Taylor Swift and Beyoncé tours, lining the streets with box-logo shirts and bucket hats and impromptu “Don’t Look Back in Anger” singalongs as the Brothers Gallagher ready their next triumphant mini-residency. If other bands have fans on the same level, they certainly aren’t showing out like this in 2025. And now, Oasis have finally conquered the States, territory that proved at least somewhat resistant to the band upon its first invasion in the mid-’90s. Three decades later, the lads are packing MetLife Stadium with more fans and merch than the woeful Jets and Giants might be able to manage for many weeks in this upcoming NFL season. Given the context, it’s hardly shocking — though also somewhat touching — that even the historically unimpressed Gallaghers couldn’t help but be a little sentimental at the showing, as they were throughout Sunday night’s typically spectacular first of two gigs at the New Jersey venue. Though surprises were few outside of the occasional mushiness — a well-oiled machine by now, Oasis stuck to the same 23-song setlist it’s played at every show so far on the Live ’25 Tour, albeit with new intro music this time in The Rolling Stones’ psych-era gem “We Love You” — there were plenty of highlights to be had on Sunday. Here were five of the biggest. Hate the Game, Not the Players Early in the set, after a soaring “Some Might Say,” Liam put to bed the notion that, despite his band’s somewhat contentious relationship with America, that they lacked affection for the U.S. of A: “No, we like coming here,” he swore. What he didn’t like, he clarified, were the people who told him “You gotta play the game, kids” — presumably when it came to stateside media and radio and promo and such — “or else you’ll be chopped liver.” The brothers’ refusal to follow industry rules may have hurt their American prospects back in the late ’90s, but Sunday night’s sold-out crowd certainly validated their approach in the long term, as Liam testified: “I’m standing here in this beautiful stadium to tell you you don’t have to play the game.” Sing by Me “Gonna need your help in the choruses,” Liam tasked the audience when gearing up for the Be Here Now power ballad “Stand By Me,” while also pre-emptively chiding anyone in the stands still worried about not looking cool: “No one’s keeping score here.” If they were, though, it would’ve been point: Liam, as the crowd lifted the singer across the song’s refrains like it was one of the band’s signature hits — somewhat ironic, since in the U.S., it was never even officially released as a single, and thus relatively unlikely as a particular stateside crowdpleaser. Nobody knows the way it’s gonna be, indeed. A Song for the Lovers Liam introduced Definitely Maybe peak “Slide Away” as one “for the lovebirds,” before jokingly assuring the crowd that they were safe from any “Coldplay cameras.” Even if there were, couples in the crowd would have likely still been unable to resist getting a little PDA-ish in response to the heart-melting love song — which has become such a highlight of the band’s Live ’25 show that fans were already singing it (along with the climactic “Take me there!” chants) in the bathrooms ahead of the show. “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” I Heard 60-70,000 of You Say After kicking off the band’s encore with fan-favorite B-side “The Masterplan,” Noel asked for a show of hands of who had never seen the band before. “You might’ve wondered what it might be like to sing this next song with 60, 70,000 of your fellow Oasis fans,” he teased for those with their hands up. “Well, you’re going to find out what that feeling is like.” Naturally, the band subsequently launched into “Don’t Look Back in Anger” — and there wasn’t a silent throat in the house as Noel let the crowd take both of the song’s first two choruses, ably demonstrating that even the first-timers knew the drill when it came to the lads’ preeminent singalong. A Fireworks Supernova in the Sky As the band winded down its stupefyingly loaded encore — with a run of “Anger,” “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova” that still feels almost unsportsmanlike for a show’s closing run — a dazzling display of fireworks lit up the East Rutherford sky. Launched from MetLife’s top level, the fireworks felt like an appropriately momentous capper to a stellar first New York-area stadium outing — one that proved that Oasis had won the game, whether or not they’d ever really played it.
