Monsieur Perine, Grupo Firme, & More Releases

New Music Latin is a compilation of the best new Latin songs and albums recommended by Billboard and Billboard Español editors. Check out this week’s picks below. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Grupo Firme & Grupo Frontera, “Modo Difícil” (Music VIP Entertainment) Life’s setbacks rarely come wrapped in such danceable charm. The two borderland bands team up to deliver “Modo Difícil,” a cumbia that transforms daily struggles into a hook-filled confession. With Eduin Caz and Adelaido “Payo” Solís III at the helm, the singers paint a picture of an unlucky lover, an uninspired worker, and those longing for brighter days. “Ay, mi dios, ¿Qué hice yo?/ Para estar tan salado en el amor,” they sing. Lighthearted yet relatable, “Modo Difícil” strikes a balance between everyday hardships and the buoyant spirit of Mexican cumbia, reminding us that sometimes laughter — and a good beat — can be the best medicine for life’s difficulties. — ISABELA RAYGOZA Monsieur Periné, “Aguaráchate” (5020 Records) The Colombian band is known and celebrated for their unconventional take on pop and folk music and now, Monsieur Periné takes it to another step further, inventing a whole new word for its new song. “Aguaráchate.” The term coined by Monsieur’s lead vocalist, Catalina García, captures that free spirit that has characterized the Latin Grammy-winning band’s essence. “Aguaráchate” is no exception with a carnival-like flair powered by a high-energy Colombian guaracha beat and a blend of bombastic instruments like the trombone, tuba and accordion. The upbeat and feel-good song is the first single from Monsieur Periné’s upcoming album, the group’s first since 2023. — GRISELDA FLORES Milo J, “Bajo de La Piel” (Sony Music Latin / Milo J) Milo J presents “Bajo de la Piel” (under the skin), marking his first single under his recent record deal with Sony Music Latin, and first from his upcoming album La Vida Era Más Corta. The powerful song, produced by the Argentine artist alongside Tatool and Santiago Alvarado, is about the invisible marks left over time, inherited memories, and the search for identity. “I have tattoos under my skin/ That never healed while another being is reborn/ I don’t feel like myself and when I saw the sunset I wanted to slow down,” Milo’s deep vocals sing, while also incorporating chants from indigenous communities. Sonically, “Bajo de la Piel” is an ode to his Argentine roots, progressively lacing tango with folk music. — JESSICA ROIZ Juan Gabriel, Eterno (Musica Eterna/Virgin Music Latin) Listening to Juan Gabriel’s music is always a delight, but when the songs are accompanied by a mariachi band, joy overflows, and the heart is grateful. The Mexican music superstar’s new posthumous album, Eterno, is an emotional embrace through classics from his extensive repertoire that, although recorded in the past by other artists, have never before been heard in the voice of the great Divo de Juárez. It is this characteristic that makes this work “an album of previously unreleased songs,” Guillermo Hernández Galicia, Juan Gabriel’s musical director, coordinator, and mariachi director for 23 years, who served as producer of this ambitious project, tells Billboard Español. This musical treasure trove includes new versions of iconic songs like “No Tengo Dinero,” “Te Lo Ipido Por Favor,” “La Diferencia,” and “Yo No Sé Qué Me Pasó,” as well as invaluable pieces from his catalog including “Las Cartas de Alberto.” Of particular note is “Nunca Es Tarde,” written by Alberto Aguilera Valadez (his real name) for Rocío Dúrcal in 1978, which marks the triumphant return of this ranchero classic almost five decades after its release. Hernández Galicia affirms that while Eterno is an album that “makes us feel that the maestro is still here among us” due to the clarity and integrity of his voice, AI was not used in the making of the LP, and that all of its tracks were recorded over two decades by the iconic performer, but saved until now. Eterno is one of several posthumous works that Juanga’s family is safeguarding, and that will gradually see the light of day. — NATALIA CANO Melanie Santiler & Cimafunk, “Ese Besito” (MamiFinaRecords) On the heels of her viral “Todo Se Supera” in collaboration with Velito El Bufón, Melanie Santiler unveils “Ese Besito” with Cimafunk. Co-produced by Javier Sampedro, DJ Conds, Drumglass, and Yoyi Lagarza, with mixing by Jefry Lozano, the breezy tune fuses Latin afrobeat with Caribbean funk and hints of Cuban reparto — giving the musical genre that derives from the barrios in Cuba an edgy twist. Lyrically, “Ese Besito” is flirty and packed with Cuban phrases and slang, combining Santiler’s sugary voice with Cimafunk’s groovier vocals. “That’s why give me that little kiss/ That you owe me for a while now/ If you try me, why should I explain/ I’ll apply a killer psychology to you,” goes the seductive chorus. — J.R. COASTCITY, Bebo Dumont, “Carrousel” (COASTCITY) Producer and singer-songwriter duo COASTCITY—formed by Jean Rodríguez and Danny Flores—has collaborated with the Puerto Rican artist Bebo Dumont for “Carrusel.” This captivating track unfolds with a contemporary and vibrant soundscape, artfully blending raw emotions with ethereal synth-pop elements. Through its rich layers and melodies, “Carrusel” serves as a powerful musical metaphor that vividly portrays the tumultuous highs and heart-wrenching lows of an unpredictable, passionate relationship. — INGRID FAJARDO Pedro Fernández, “Bailando de A Cartón” (Férnandez Music Publishing) Accompanied by his indispensable mariachi, Pedro Fernández presents a rhythmic, fun-themed song to which he adds his playful tone. “Bailando de a Cartón” is a traditional Mexican term indicating that the couple will dance very close and flirt a lot. “My heart races, I felt like it was going to explode/ I looked at you and I was filled with emotion/ you came to the party and I fell in love/ I picked up my courage and I approached you/ I invited you to dance, I think I blew it.” From the first seconds of the song, the mariachi encourages you to move your feet, and the entrance of the accordion announces that something joyful is about to arrive. — TERE AGUILERA Musiko & Jay Kalyl,

Anthony ‘Top Dawg’ Tiffith Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Speech

With Top Dawg Entertainment continuing its run of dominance through 2025, TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith was honored on Thursday night (Sept. 4) with executive of the year at Billboard‘s 2025 R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players event. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Top took the Brooklyn venue stage in his signature red TDE cap, surrounded by his cousin and TDE executive Terrence “Punch” Henderson, along with his son, TDE president Anthony “Moosa” Tiffith Jr. “I like to stay behind the scenes,” he began his speech. “Billboard pulled me out tonight, I got a couple words for y’all. I want to thank Billboard for honoring me with this award, Executive of the Year, I feel like I should’ve won this three, four, five times.” While he remains one of the industry shakers who prefers to remain in the background, Tiffith admitted it felt good to be seen and recognized for the hard work he’s put in along with many others, to make TDE a powerhouse. “I am low-key, not promoting myself and letting my artists shine, they don’t recognize that,” he continued. “But tonight is that night, this is the MVP trophy of the music industry.” Ab-Soul, Royce Da 5’9 and E-40 hopped into Billboard‘s IG comment section to give Top Dawg his flowers. It’s a well-deserved honor for Tiffith after putting forth another banner campaign in 2025, which saw him elevate Doechii to rap’s next star, while her ALLIGATOR BITES NEVER HEAL mixtape won a Grammy Award for best rap album. Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s Grand National Tour became the highest-grossing co-headlining tour ever as they grossed $256.4 million across 23 North American shows from April to June. There’s plenty of depth to the roster with rising rappers such as Ray Vaughn leaving their mark on 2025 with the release of his The Good The Bad The Dollar Menu debut mixtape in April. Sickick, Aloe Blacc and Vikkstar Drop ‘Lonely Together’ Song

Sickick is back with an inspiring anthem. The Toronto electronic musician released his new single “Lonely Together” on Thursday (Sept. 4), an uplifting house track with a dreamy atmosphere and cathartic build-ups. It’s a prolific collaboration with Grammy-nominated American soul singer Aloe Blacc and English YouTube star and DJ Vikkstar. “This one hits differently!” Sickick told Billboard Canada. “‘Lonely Together’ is for the dreamers, the dancers, and the ones who find escape in music. Play it loud and let it move you!” Explore See latest videos, charts and news The song, which is all about finding connection through isolation, starts on a soft note with soaring motivational vocals from Aloe Blacc. “We’re all lonely alone, feeling everything is wrong / But we know we belong here forever, we’re lonely together,” he sings on the chorus. Sickick built his vision for the track from the initial vocal and melody ideas that Blacc sent him. “Lonely Forever” was worked on for over six months and underwent multiple demos, including a duet version featuring vocals from Sickick. After utilizing Blacc’s contribution, the EDM artist teamed up with Vikkstar to give the track a progressive house feel, which is evident in its warm feel and uplifting synth melodies. “Aloe’s voice brought a raw soul to it that needed an emotional synth to back it up,” he says. “When I first laid them down, I wanted them to feel heavy, but also freeing. The whole process was about channeling those moments where you’re carrying so much on your shoulders, and then finally letting it all go. That’s why I’d call it cathartic — because it’s meant to hit you in the heart but also lift you up and make you move.” Check out the trio’s new song below. Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Man’s Best Friend’ Romps to U.K. No. 1

She’s back where she belongs: Sabrina Carpenter has romped to No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with Man’s Best Friend (Sep. 5). The new LP gives Carpenter her second chart-topper in little over a year following 2024’s Short n’ Sweet, which spent five weeks at No. 1. “Manchild,” the lead single from her new LP, earned two weeks at the summit of the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart earlier this summer.    Carpenter also claims 2025’s biggest opening week for an international artist, with 85,500 units shifted in the first seven days. Lady Gaga’s Mayhem held the record previously (55,000) but North Shields-born rocker Sam Fender’s People Watching is still the one to beat, which debuted with 119,000 units back in February. Carpenter currently has three albums inside the top 40 with Short n’ Sweet (No. 8) and 2023’s Emails I Can’t Send (No. 23) both receiving a bump. On Thursday (Sep. 4), she treated fans with surprise bonus track “Such a Funny Way,” which is available to download from her website. “The sentiment is one i always thought could really be the end of Man’s Best Friend in another universe! i didn’t want you to wait too long to have it and get to know it,” she wrote on her Instagram profile. Irish country-pop star CMAT scores a career-high with her third LP Euro-Country peaking at No. 2. The Dublin-born singer-songwriter — real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson — has performed extensively at U.K. and European festivals this summer, including Glastonbury and All Points East festival. The LP features “Take a Sexy Picture Of Me” which inspired a viral TikTok dance earlier this year. Bryan Adams earns his 12th top 10 LP with Roll With The Punches (No. 3) and he’s closely followed by Oasis’ greatest hits collection Time Flies… (1994-2009) (No. 4). Swedish rock band The Hives score their fourth top 10 record with The Hives Forever Forever The Hives landing at No. 5. Get weekly rundowns straight to your inbox Sign Up Source link

Alejandro Sanz ¿Y Ahora Qué? Tour Best Moments

Alejandro Sanz concluded his 2023 Sanz En Vivo tour in the city of Puebla, located in central Mexico — and in this same place, the iconic Spanish pop artist decided to kick off this week his new world tour, ¿Y Ahora Qué? “Coincidence? I don’t think so!” remarked the singer-songwriter to the 8,000 attendees who packed the Auditorio GNP Seguros on Thursday (Sept. 4) during the second night of the tour, according to figures from OCESA. “There’s something here,” the musician noted. Sanz’s new trek marks his return to the Latin American country after two years. The first leg of the tour already boasts more than 20 scheduled dates in various Mexican cities, several of which are sold out —including the shows at Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City set for Sept. 12, 13, 17 and 18. “Thank you so much for welcoming us, for giving us your warmth,” said Sanz, visibly moved. “I always tell [my band] rehearsals are fine, but the concerts are ching-nes (badass). I hope you enjoy it. We want to give you a show filled with music, not ching-deras (nonsense),” he added, using a colloquial Mexican expression. Dressed in black pants, a brown shirt, and white sneakers, Sanz appeared on stage promptly at 9:00 p.m., guitar in hand, to perform “Desde Cuándo,” from his 2009 album Paraíso Express, encouraging the audience to sing along with him. It was the prelude to an emotional 120-minute musical journey featuring old favorites and new hits. (For a full setlist, click here). The 56-year-old Madrid-born star proved that he still enjoys being on stage as much as he did more than three decades ago when he started his career. The guitar remains his great ally, but he also captivates the audience when he plays the piano, creating a more emotional and intimate atmosphere with his fans. Below, see five standout moments from Alejandro Sanz’s second show at the Auditorio GNP Seguros in Puebla, Mexico. The New & The Old In his new two-hour show, Sans revisits the great hits from his career, such as “Corazón Partío”, “Amiga mía” and “Mi persona favorita”, while also performing some of the songs from his 2025 EP ¿Y Ahora Qué?, including “Bésame”, “El Vino De Tu Boca” and “Hoy No Me Siento Bien”, the latter recorded with Grupo Frontera. The Mexican Flag “If yesterday was a dream, today was a poem,” Sanz wrote on social media to describe the second night of his tour. Mexico is a country with which he shares close ties, as evidenced by the moment he raised a Mexican tricolor flag thrown to him from the audience while performing “Por Bandera,” from his 1995 album 3. Another white flag with the word “Paz” (Peace) was waved by the musician and his backup singer, before throwing it to the people in the front row. Visuals & Confetti Throughout the show, various visuals appear on the background screens, from images of clocks and hourglasses to galaxies and a painting of what appears to be a colorful and vibrant Latin American plaza, with flowers, colored paper and fruit. Toward the end of the concert, a shower of green, white and red confetti — resembling the Mexican flag — caps off an explosive moment. Feminine Presence Among the musicians accompanying Sanz during this new concert series are four women, who take charge of the backing vocals, drums, bass, percussion and trombone. The female contribution to the show brings subtlety and emotion to songs like “Bésame,” originally recorded with superstar Shakira. An Acoustic Finale An acoustic set accompanies the show’s encore, with Sanz and his band returning to the stage to close the night with a more intimate and emotional performance. The songs here were “Y Si Fuera Ella,” “Lo Ves,” and “Corazón Partío,” marking a masterful close, with the audience belting out one of the Spanish singer-songwriter’s anthems. Source link

K-Pop Shines on U.K. Charts as ‘Golden’ Earns Fifth Week at No. 1

The British weather might have turned wet, windy and wild this week, but HUNTR/X’s “Golden” still shines bright as it spends a fifth non-consecutive week as U.K. No. 1 (Sep. 5). Explore See latest videos, charts and news The breakout song from Netflix’s hit animation KPop Demon Hunters extends its streak as the Official Singles Chart’s longest-running K-pop No. 1 single; PSY’s “Gangnam Style” is the only other song from the genre to have hit the top spot, doing so for a sole week in 2012. “Golden” is credited to the fictional group HUNTR/X, and is sung by EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami. Two additional songs from the flick land in the top 10 with Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” (No. 5) and “Your Idol” (No. 8) contributing to the film’s dominance. Elsewhere K-pop thrives with girl group TWICE seeing success with two singles – “Takedown” (No. 24) and “Strategy” (No. 32) – landing on the charts. Following their shows at Wembley Stadium, BLACKPINK’s “JUMP” bounces to No. 34. Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” finishes the week at No. 2, her highest spot ever on the U.K. Singles Chart. Drake Previews Collabs With Yeat & Cash Cobain During ‘Iceman’ Stream

Drake returned with episode three of Iceman on Thursday night (Sept. 4), which found the 6 God previewing a solo cut as well as collabs with YEAT and Cash Cobain. Cash, who initially worked with Drizzy on 2023’s For All the Dogs, returns to the Iceman fold for “Somebody Loves Me, Pt. 2,” a remix to Drake and PartyNextDoor’s $ome $exy $ongs 4 U hit from earlier this year. Explore See latest videos, charts and news In the ep, Drake walks through an Italian market and hops on the phone with YEAT before jumping into his car to preview a collab with his “IDGAF” collaborator and an emerging artist Drake has taken a liking to: Julia Wolf. Next up, the 6 God previewed what appears to be his next single, which is tentatively titled “That’s Just How I Feel,” featuring multiple beat switches. However, its initial stripped-down production finds Drizzy in his top form. “All of them summers is slappers, baby, you owe me/ For real/ Probably would slow me down if I carry my trophies/ Maybe, when no one’s around, I’ll rap like the old me,” the OVO boss raps. Drake goes on to contemplate his time at the top of the game along with death. “Yeah, and now that I remember, I took the chains and I broke free/ I wonder how long I’ll be at the top if they don’t kill me,” he muses. This all leads into a freestyle from Drake over a moody beat, aiming at those who have crossed him. “They wanna see me go,” he spews. It’s still unclear when Drake intends to drop Iceman. His first two episodes took place in July, which resulted in the arrival of “What Did I Miss” and “Which One” featuring Central Cee. Watch the episode in full below. Leon Thomas accepts Billboard 2025 Breakthrough of Year Award

Among the celebrants cheering loudly for Leon Thomas as he accepted his Breakthrough of the Year Award at Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players 2025 was his mother, Jayon Anthony. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Smiling at his mother on Thursday night (Sept. 4) at Unveiled in Brooklyn, Thomas noted that she paid for his first studio session and ever since then he’s been in a studio recording. Approaching the podium to accept the award, Thomas initially engaged the audience in a call-and-response chant reminiscent of church: “God is good… all the time!” Then, in addressing his solo career takeoff, he said, “This has been 22 years in the making, and a lot of talks I had with God are a big part of my journey.” In his accompanying Billboard cover story — “Rebirth of the Cool” — chronicling his rise from former Nickelodeon star to Grammy-winning songwriter (SZA’s “Snooze”) to solo artist in his own right, the musician and producer also paid another tribute to his singer mother: “I always tell people I’m my mom’s startup,” he said. “We started this journey when I was 10 and I’m 31 now. She understands how hard I’ve worked and how alone I felt sometimes.” That hard work has paid off over the last 18 months for Brooklyn native Thomas. Released in August 2024, “Mutt” is the first single from his same-titled second studio album. The song’s slow burn since its release culminated in his first Hot 100 hit (No. 12), first No. 1s on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot R&B Songs and first RIAA platinum certification. And not only did “Mutt” cement Thomas’ breakthrough as a solo artist, the track — along with the entire album — upended R&B’s status quo by way of live instrumentation, vibrant fusions of soul, rock and funk plus insightful lyrics. As longtime friend and fellow R&B star Kehlani noted in the cover story, “Leon’s disrupting this easy, poppy R&B that we had going on. Something like ‘Mutt’ being so successful shows that you don’t have to compromise. You really can stay true to the genre. It’s made me proud to look at my friend, who I’ve seen play the back seat in so many sessions, be the star.” Thomas, signed to Ty Dolla $ign and Shawn Barron’s EZMNY label, is prepping a seven-track EP for October featuring what’s described as “a notably funkier, and at times more psychedelic, collection of tracks.” In the meantime, watch Thomas’ full R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players 2025 acceptance speech above. Walking with the She-Wolf on Her Historic Tour

When Shakira says “Mexico is my home” because she also feels Mexican, the Colombian superstar — just like her hips — doesn’t lie. In my opinion, the deep love that the Latin American country has for the singer-songwriter is only comparable to the sentiment Mexicans feel for the Colombian Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez, who made Mexico City his home until his passing in 2014. In Mexico, Shakira achieved her first musical successes thanks to her 1995 album Pies Descalzos, with which she captivated the country and later all of Latin America with the hit “Dónde Estás Corazón.” Thirty years later, the fervor Mexicans feel for her music has translated into a wave of successes and several unprecedented records, from one million tickets sold for her 28 concerts in Mexico as part of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour, to the 12 shows at Estadio GNP Seguros (formerly Foro Sol) that Shakira is set to complete this month. Given this, the opportunity to participate in the “Walk with La Loba,” the powerful entrance with which the Barranquilla native kicks off her show each night before 65,000 people, at Estadio GNP Seguros, made it doubly epic and emotional. I received the invitation to be part of “the pack” from promoter OCESA in coordination with Sony Music Mexico for Aug. 30, during Shakira’s eleventh show at that iconic venue in the capital. Recognized by Billboard as the No. 1 concert stadium in the world, it has hosted luminaries ranging from Metallica and Paul McCartney to Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. That night in the pack were TV hosts Odalys Ramírez, Joanna Vega-Biestro, and Pame Voguel. The writer of this piece proudly represented Billboard Español. Host Karole Soriano and actress Sandra Itzel were also part of the group. By that time, we knew the special guest of the night would be pop star Belinda, with whom Shakira performed the ballad “Día de Enero.” We were lined up in order of height alongside the rest of the fans, and fortunately, being chaparrita (short), as we say in Mexico, I was able to be among the first in line. We walked toward one of the entrances of the venue, dressed in the provided silver raincoats and futuristic glasses. Shortly after 9:00 p.m., Shakira appeared in a golf cart escorted by security personnel. She approached her “pack” for the night and quickly greeted a few people, while I tried to capture the moment with my phone. Although I had the chance to briefly interview her in March when she began her Mexico trek, seeing her up close again filled me with excitement. The lights went out, and the show’s intro began. The walk started, bringing with it a rush of adrenaline. I recorded only a few moments because I wanted to truly savor the experience of walking alongside one of the greatest artists in history — No. 1 among Billboard‘s 50 Best Latin Pop Artists of All Time. What a privilege! The stadium roared with Shakira’s presence as she walked toward the stage embodying an empowered woman, embraced by the Mexican audience that loves her so deeply. She knows it, and she reciprocates that love with a Mexican-themed section in her show where, on this occasion, in addition to performing “Ciega, Sordomuda,” she sang “Sombras Nada Más” accompanied by a mariachi band. The song, made famous by iconic ranchera singer Javier Solís, was introduced by the star as one of her father William Mebarak Chadid’s favorites. Upon reaching the stage, Shakira performed “La Fuerte,” an electronic music track that sets the tone for the rest of the concert. From there, we were guided down the hallway toward the exit, and everyone headed to their assigned seats to enjoy the two hours plus show. In my nearly 20-year career as a journalist, there have been many exciting moments — among them, a soundcheck with U2 in 2006 at Estadio Azteca — and now everything I experienced with the Colombian star during her triumphant return to Mexico with her most successful tour yet. I feel incredibly fortunate to witness this historic moment and the deep love she feels for Mexico, a sentiment that is absolutely reciprocated. The phrase “¡Shakira, hermana, ya eres mexicana!” (Shakira, sis, you’re already Mexican!) has never felt more true. Shakira will return to Mexico City to conclude her record-breaking performances at Estadio GNP Seguros on September 18, before continuing her tour through other Latin American countries. Shakira makes her entrance at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on August 30, 2025. Liliana Estrada/OCESA Source link
