Jessie J‘s two-year-old son got to see his mom perform live for the first time on Saturday (Sept. 6). The singer returned to the stage, and brought Sky along, at BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Essex, England, after undergoing her first round of surgery to treat breast cancer over the summer; she’ll have a second surgery in the fall, a procedure she says is “nothing too serious” but conflicts with her now-postponed fall tour. Explore See latest videos, charts and news “Some of you may know, some of you may not know, but I had breast cancer surgery 11 weeks ago today,” Jessie J told the crowd at Saturday’s concert in Chelmsford, Essex, the Daily Mail reports. “And the last show I did, I had no idea what was gonna happen, and I’m still very much in the recovery process,” she shared from the stage. “But I’m just so grateful to be here,” said the singer. “You have no idea how grateful I am to see so many of you singing along after all these years. It truly feels like I’m a little kid. Still doing what I love.” “And another special thing that’s happening today is that my son is seeing me sing on stage for the first time,” she added, according to the Daily Mail. Headphones on to protect his ears, two-year-old Sky even got to go up to the mic to say hello and sing “Happy Birthday” to anyone in the crowd who happened to be celebrating a birthday, fan video footage from the concert shows. Ahead of her first surgery, Jessie J revealed in June that she’d received an “early breast cancer” diagnosis back in April. Six weeks after surgery, she returned to the hospital with symptoms that turned out to be the result of an infection. In July, she underwent tests that showed the cancer had not spread and shared an emotional message thanking her fans for their prayers and positive energy. As part of her performance on Saturday, Jessie J performed new song “Living My Best Life” and explained the story behind the track. “I was diagnosed literally two weeks before this song was released,” she said. “Everyone said, ‘Let’s stop, let’s just put everything on hold,’ and I said, ‘That’s not what life’s about.’” “Life is about standing in the storm but holding up your umbrella and just keep moving forward,” she said. “And music, I don’t know about you guys, but for me, music is a healer. Music is the thing that keeps me wanting to wake up in the morning and just makes me excited about life. And I’m grateful that I can make music that can give other people something that they might need on a hard day or a good day. So this song is called ‘Living My Best Life,’ and that is what I’m doing every single damn day. ‘Cause we never know when our last day will be. Selena Gomez is reviving Revival on vinyl for the album’s 10-year anniversary. Released on Oct. 9, 2015, Revival reigned for a week No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its debut, and spent a total of 69 weeks on the chart. Singles “Good for You”, “Same Old Love” and “Hands to Myself” were top 10 hits for Gomez on the Hot 100. A Revival 10-year anniversary deluxe vinyl edition is now available to pre-order exclusively on Gomez’s webstore, where it’s pictured in maroon and shown with a photo insert of the pop star. Green Day is revving up excitement for their upcoming film New Years Rev. On Friday (Sept. 5), the legendary punk rock band unveiled an official poster and first trailer for the coming-of-age comedy, which is directed by Lee Kirk. “Coming soon: @newyearsrevmovie. The story of three young punks willing to risk it all to follow their dream,” the trio wrote on Instagram alongside the film’s poster. Described as a “wild road trip comedy,” the 55-second trailer opens with two teenagers taking bong hits in a dimly lit room plastered with posters, reflecting on the day they “almost opened up for Green Day.” Set to Green Day’s 2004 anthem “Holiday,” the fast-paced teaser follows the teens as they borrow a taxi and embark on a chaotic cross-country journey in an attempt to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. The trailer ends with a high-energy concert clip featuring frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool rocking out on stage, followed by the message: “Coming Soon.” Dubbed “A Green Day Story,” New Years Rev centers on a fictional garage band called The Analog Dogs, whose biggest dream is to meet and open for their punk idols. When the trio finally manages to get their demo tape into the right hands, they believe they’ve scored a once-in-a-lifetime gig opening for Green Day. But they soon find out the opportunity was an elaborate prank orchestrated by one of their brothers. “Nevertheless, naively optimistic, the young trio set off on the road from Kansas to California, with wide-eyed dreams of being on stage alongside their heroes,” reads an official synopsis. Green Day previously described the film as a heartfelt tribute to “road trip movies, ’90s nostalgia, and chasing the dream no matter how ridiculous it gets.” The soundtrack features more than a dozen of the group’s tracks. New Years Rev‘s cast includes Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace, Fred Armisen, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, and comedian Bobby Lee. Leon Thomas headlined Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop LIVE concert at Webster Hall in New York City on Friday (Sept. 5). The fast-rising R&B star — who recently received the Breakthrough of the Year Award at Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players 2025 event — was one of several artists to take the stage at the free show. Presented by State Farm, Ralph Lauren and UnitedMasters, the packed event served as the centerpiece of Billboard’s Hip-Hop & R&B Week. When word got out that the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players event would be taking over Webster Hall for a free concert on Friday (Sept. 5), New Yorkers from all walks of life consumed three blocks waiting — and hoping — to get inside. Those lucky enough to gain entry celebrated every second of the night, as DJ Ohso meticulously spun through hip-hop bangers, sultry afro tunes and a little bit of Paramore to keep the crowd energized, engaged and hungry for a showcase from Billboard‘s Rookies of the Year. Armanii kicked the night off with his signature blend of dancehall and hip-hop grooves, as fans swayed to “8:00 PM,” “JUMP (Bounce)” and others. Attendee’s workday blues than completely vanished thanks to Billboard‘s Hip-Hop Rookie of the Year GELO, who swaggered about the stage and ignited the party with the littest cuts off his debut album, League of My Own. While fans cheered and supported the newer tracks, it of course was his viral hit “Tweaker” that fully locked the crowd in with its unifying “woah’s” and “ahh’s.” After a short breather, Odeal‘s presence was immediately felt throughout Webster’s Hall, as people erupted just at the mere sight of the African Rookie of the Year. There were dozens of diehard supporters in the audience, who screamed out every syllable of “Soh-Soh,” “London Summers” and of course “Miami,” with the soon-to-appear headliner Leon Thomas. Before that, though, Ravyn Lenae floated onto the stage to quickly transport the crowd to a more mystical realm. Lenae gracefully sang through her biggest hits including “One Wish” and “Love Me Not,” sprinkling pixie dust along the way like an R&B fairy godmother. But it was Thomas that really brought the house down. He railed on the drums, shredded on the guitar, sang his absolute heart out — firing off every firearm in his musical arsenal and leaving no survivors. The crowd, admittedly a bit worn after such a lengthy showcase, rallied behind Thomas and fully came back to life as Ty Dolla $ign casually strutted out while singing his verse on “Far Fetched.” The DJ then queued up “Carnival” right after, the Ye (formerly Kanye West) and Ty’s Vultures 1 cut that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in 2024. As Ty sang through the single and hyped up the crowd, Leon and his band — for lack of a better term — rocked the f—k out. Dua Lipa treated fans to a surprise during the opening U.S. date of her Radical Optimism World Tour. On Friday (Sept. 5), the 30-year-old British pop star launched a two-night stint at Chicago’s United Center, dazzling the sold-out crowd with striking costumes and a 22-song setlist that featured tracks from her latest album, Radical Optimism. Midway through her performance, Lipa — dressed in a sparkly black coat with feathered sleeves — stunned fans by welcoming music legend Chaka Khan to the stage. Eladio Carrión is no stranger to breaking barriers, and his explosive takeover of Brooklyn’s Barclays Center proved once again that he’s operating on a whole new level. In just two years, the U.S.-born, Puerto Rican rapper elevated his career from performing in intimate venues like The Theater at Madison Square Garden to headlining arena territory at the legendary Barclays Center. His arrival in Brooklyn comes just one week after he launched his DON KBRN World Tour, presented by Live Nation, on Aug. 27 in Charlotte, N.C. Kicking off the show at 9 p.m., the Kansas City-born artist lit up the stage with tracks from his latest album DON KBRN, including fan favorites like “Invencible,” “Ohtani,” “Vetements,” “H.I.M.” and “Broly.” He also performed songs from his albums Sol María (2024), 3MEN2 KBRN (2023), SEN2KBRN VOL. 2 (2022), Sauce Boyz 2 (2021), and his 2024 EP Porque Puedo. Japanese Yakuza-Styled Aesthetics Right as the show began, audiences were visually transported into a world inspired by the Japanese yakuza, the infamous organized crime syndicate, paired with an overarching samurai discipline courtesy of the four backup dancers. Bright neon-colored visuals, traditional Japanese architecture, and text stylized in Japanese characters lit up the massive LED screens. Carrión himself embodied the aesthetic, kicking off the performance in a sleek black suit adorned with intricate silk embroidery — and a dragon stitched across the back of his jacket. The thematic cohesion shown in his performance extends in his latest album Don KBRN, shot entirely in Japan. Carlos Vives will be honored for his dedication to cultural and community development across Colombia and Latin America through his Tras La Perla Foundation. Meanwhile, Myke Towers will receive this distinction for his work with the Young Kingz Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on empowering vulnerable communities in Puerto Rico and Latin America. The awards show will broadcast live from Panama City on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. ET via Univision, UNIMÁS, Galavisión, and ViX. “La Buena Vibra” Morat joined forces with the Colombian Football Federation to launch the “La Buena Vibra,” or good vibes, initiative on Sept. 4 in Barranquilla, during the Colombia national team’s match against Bolivia. Rauw was honored with the Vision Award and Trevi with the Legend Award. The Mexican pop star shared a heartfelt message during her speech: “This recognition would not exist without the Latino community that works and fights tirelessly for their dreams, their families, and themselves,” she said. “This award is like an embrace of hope for humanity, a humanity that’s capable of more tenderness.” Upon receiving his award, Rauw expressed: “I am the son of a cultural crossroads, and what a great blessing it is to carry this mix in my blood, because it is what guides my art and my path.” “Nuestros Colores” Mexican singer-songwriter Mario Bautista performed “Nuestros Colores,” the 2025 Leagues Cup anthem, during the final match between Inter Miami CF and Seattle Sounders CF on Aug. 31. Karol G brought her Tropicoqueta energy to the NFL stage in Brazil, where she headlined the halftime show on Friday night (Sept. 5) during the season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Colombian superstar’s performance was streamed live on the NFL’s YouTube channel from Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, where she opened her short-but-dazzling set singing some verses in Portuguese, before switching to Spanish for “Bandida Entrenada.” “Hey, Brazil!” she greeted the audience with excitement. “¡Arriba mi gente latina!” (Up my Latin people!) Dressed in a copper miniskirt and a bra with yellow pineapples for cups, Karol, with her wavy dark blond hair down, performed a medley of songs that included her Billboard Hot Latin Songs No. 1 hit “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” “Un Gatito Me Llamó” and “Papasito,” which she performed half in English, half in Spanish. Surrounded by dozens of dancers and dancing some moves that included a bit of lambada, Karol’s performance lasted less than 10 minutes, but it was sweet and well-produced, including nice costumes, a group of female percussionists and a grand finale with fireworks. This week, Billboard’s New Music Latin roundup and playlist — curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — features fresh new music, including fresh picks by Milo J, a second collaboration by Grupo Firme and Grupo Frontera, and a new collaborative effort by Ela Taubert and Jay Wheeler, to name a few. Argentine artist and rapper Milo J stunned with the first cut of his upcoming album, La Vida Era Más Corta, called “Bajo de la Piel.” The song that progressively laces tango with folk music, and is powered by Milo’s powerful deep vocals, is about the invisible marks left over time, inherited memories, and the search for identity. Moreover, Colombian band Monsieur Periné invented a whole new word for its new song, “Aguaráchate.” Coined by lead vocalist, Catalina García, the upbeat and feel-good song blends a Colombian guaracha beat with bombastic instruments like the trombone, tuba and accordion. “I invented this word as a way to make music my game again, the game I want to play to laugh, one without rigid rules, where joy is the only rule,” García said in a press statement. Other new releases this week include music from Sech, Pedro Fernández, and Juan Gabriel, who dropped his album Eterno posthumously.
