Post Malone and Jelly Roll Perform ‘Losers’ From Germany at 2025 VMAs

Post Malone and Jelly Roll beamed into the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards from the Hanover, Germany stop of the pair’s Big Ass Stadium Tour to deliver a rousing performance of their hit 2024 collaboration “Losers.” Post, donning a Jalen Tolbert Cowboys jersey, began the performance by announcing “Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the absolutely immaculate Jelly Roll!” before embracing his co-headliner and kicking off the “Losers” performance. Then Jelly Roll, wearing a black vest and a black tee (with a backwards black Bass Pro Shop hat), took his turn on the mic. Singing the bridge before the climactic chorus, Post Malone and Jelly Roll put their arms around one another. Then, as the country star duo launched into the big finish, fireworks began shooting off over the Hanover stadium, as Jelly Roll began shouting his thanks to the VMAs and screaming “I love you!” “Losers” originally appeared on Post Malone’s Billboard 200-topping 2024 country crossover album F-1 Trillion. The song peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100, and made it to No. 12 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart. The two began on the Big Ass Stadium Tour in April, making their way through the United States before heading to Europe in early August. The tour will wrap in two weeks with a pair of dates at England’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Jelly Roll is nominated for four awards at this year’s VMAs: best hip-hop, video for good (both for his appearance on Eminem’s “Somebody Save Me”), best alternative (for “Lonely Road” with MGK) and best country (for “Liar”). Post Malone is nominated for best collaboration for his Blake Shelton teamup “Pour Me a Drink.” Get weekly rundowns straight to your inbox Sign Up Source link

Mariah Carey Performs Video Vanguard Medley at VMAs

On an evening in which she was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Mariah Carey delivered a career-spanning, thoroughly enjoyable medley of hits old and new — and earned a personal tribute from Ariana Grande — at the MTV Video Music Awards, held at the UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y. on Sunday night (Sept. 7.). Explore See latest videos, charts and news “She’s given us an anthem for every single occasion,” Grande, who tapped Carey for a “Yes, And?” remix last year, told the arena to introduce the Video Vanguard performance. The Wicked superstar added, “As a vocalist, there’s only one queen, and that’s Mariah.”  With that, Carey started off the medley with her feathery recent single “Sugar Sweet,” joined by a pair of male dancers in a bedroom backdrop, before the beat abruptly cut to Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s boisterous intro to the “Fantasy” remix. The entire medley functioned as a showcase to Carey’s range as a pop superstar, with “Heartbreaker” getting a roller rink routine (and someone playing Bianca, her alter ego from the video), “Obsessed” featuring a masked menace, and “It’s Like That” bringing its finger-snaps into a ballroom, complete with elegant choreography and playful vocals. Eventually, “We Belong Together” served as a centerpiece of sorts, with Carey backed by a string orchestra and the applause turning raucous as Grande returned to the stage to hand the superstar her award. Carey and Grande blew each other air kisses, and Grande bowed down to her friend before ceding the stage to Carey, who turned to Grande and proclaimed, “I’m so grateful for you and I’m beyond proud of everything you’ve achieved, girl!” Carey’s acceptance speech was relatively short, but touched upon her history at the VMAs — including a performance alongside the late Whitney Houston, and her own presentation of the Video Vanguard award to the 2025 ceremony host, LL Cool J — as well as her deep appreciation of the music video as a modern art form. “Music evolves, videos evolve — but the fun, that is eternal!” Carey declared before thanking her fans, the Lambily. Carey also plugged her upcoming album, Here For It All, during the speech; her first studio album in seven years will be released on Sept. 26, and will include “Sugar Sweet” as well as the previously released single “Type Dangerous.” Click here for the full winner’s list at the 2025 MTV VMAs. Busta Rhymes Performs Hits Medley, Accepts Visionary Award at VMAs

Busta Rhymes celebrated his Rock the Bells Visionary Award at the 2025 MTV VMAs by putting on a show-stopping performance, running through some of his biggest hits before accepting the award Sunday (Sept. 7) at New York’s UBS Arena. After LL Cool J announced the rapper, Busta hopped up alongside Spliff Star and performed a medley of hits that included guest appearances from Joyner Lucas, Papoose and GloRilla. Utilizing his spitfire flow, Busta breathlessly attacked his songs “Gimme Some More,” “Touch It” and “Pass the Courvoisier.” “Let me get straight to it,” Busta said before quickly shouting out Yo Gotti, Ciara, his mother and father, DJ Scratch and, of course, God. He closed out his speech by giving props to the MTV VJ and talk-show host Ananda Lewis, who died in June after a battle with breast cancer at 52 years old. “I think we all need to acknowledge the incredible woman that loved us very much when we came to MTV during the ’90s,” Busta said. “An incredible woman that loved me, she loved us, she loved the culture. She lifted us up. I love her very much, I miss her very much. The late, great, incredible royal empress Ananda Lewis.” He concluded with, “The blessings don’t stop, so we don’t stop, baby!” The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards were broadcast in front of a live audience, and aired on CBS and MTV, and also streamed live on Paramount+. LL Cool J hosted the event, which included performances from Doja Cat, Tate McRae and more. Check out Busta Rhymes’ performance and acceptance speech below. Tate McRae Performs ‘Sports Car’ & ‘Revolving Door’ at 2025 VMAs

Tater Tots, rejoice: Tate McRae took 2025 MTV Video Music Awards by storm with her star-making main stage debut performance at the awards show Sunday (Sept. 7). Appearing on stage at New York’s UBS Arena dressed in just a white strapless bikini with dripping jewels, McRae began her performance with a stripped down, nearly orchestral rendition of “Revolving Door.” As she walked back through rows upon rows of shirtless, statuesque male dancers, she lamented her decision to “keep comin’ back like a revolvin’ door.” But as her petrified dancers suddenly came to life, so did the singer. Being lifted up and twirled around the stage, McRae launched into the performance of her hit single “Sports Car,” as she popped, locked and twerked her way around the stage, through a pit of sand and even above her dancers’ heads. Strutting across the stage, McRae showed off her skills as a singer, dancer and live performer with her performance at the ceremony. Hosted by LL Cool J, the annual award ceremony brought stars from across music together. Lady Gaga led the nominations with a whopping 12 nods at the annual ceremony, followed closely by her “Die With a Smile” partner Bruno Mars with 11 nominations and Kendrick Lamar with 10. Mariah Carey, meanwhile, was set to receive the coveted Video Vanguard Award. For her part, McRae earned four nods, including for best pop artist and song of the year for “Sports Car.” Meanwhile, McRae was far from the only performer at the ceremony, with performances throughout the evening from stars such as Sabrina Carpenter, Conan Gray, Jelly Roll and sombr. Ricky Martin Performs ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca,’ More Hits at VMAs

Ricky Martin‘s big night at the 2025 VMAs on Sunday (Sept. 7) kicked off with a special introduction by J Balvin, who gave a heartfelt speech about the Puerto Rican superstar’s influence and legacy. “Ricky Martin didn’t just set the stage for the Latin takeover, he built it from the ground up,” Balvin said. “He inspired me and so many Latinos. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here.” Shortly after, the man of the hour, who was also honored with the inaugural Latin Icon Award, took over the stage wearing suit-like attire for the special occasion: an elegant white blazer, black slacks and a bandana around his neck. Some of those clothing items would eventually come off, and, as they did, he performed a megahits medley, kicking off with the fan-favorite, hip-swiveling “Livin’ La Vida Loca.” With a full band in tow and a troupe of dancers, Ricky went on to perform a riveting set, singing in English and Spanish, and executing enviable dance moves that showcase how dynamic he is on stage. The hits included “Pégate,” “Shake Your Bon-Bon,” “Vente Pa’Ca,” “Maria” and “The Cup of Life,” which had Ariana Grande on her feet, singing and clapping along to the soccer anthem. After he finished his performance, Jessica Simpson took the stage for a full-circle moment. “Back in 1999, when I was just starting out, the biggest pop star in the world asked me to open up for him on his Livin’ La Vida Loca Tour. It was a dream come true,” she said before handing him the Latin Icon Award. Martin then took center stage to give a short but sweet speech, accepting the special honor. “This is very simple, this is for you all. Thank you so much for your applause,” he said with a smile from ear to ear. “I’m addicted to your applause, that’s why I keep coming up. It’s you not only here in America, but all over the world. It’s been 40 years. I started when I was a baby, and we’re still here. We just want to unite countries, break boundaries and keep music alive.” He also went on to dedicate the award to his kids. “Everything I do, I do it with you in my mind and in my heart.” Martin’s special performance at the VMAs on Sunday at New York’s UBS Arena marked the 26th anniversary of his first VMAs performance, during which he performed “She’s All I Ever Had” and “Livin’ La Vida Loca.” Watch his performance below: Source link

ROSÉ’s VMAs Speech Gets ‘Deeply Personal’ As She Opens Up on Fears

While ROSÉ already has some VMAs in her back pocket thanks to BLACKPINK’s several wins at the MTV Video Music Awards over the years, the New Zealand/South Korean singer now has one of her own as a solo artist – and the big moment was not lost on her. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Bruno Mars & ROSÉ’s smash “APT.” (which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100) was named the song of the year at the 2025 VMAs on Sunday (Sept. 7) night at the USB Arena in Elmont, N.Y. Taking the stage to accept the honor (Mars was not present at the show), Rosé unfurled a pre-written note and read a well-thought-out, personal speech. “I feel like this is a really big moment for myself and a lot of other people,” she began before pausing, laughing a bit and continuing. “Thank you so much, Bruno. I can’t believe this. I’m gonna call you after, thank you so much for believing in me.” ROSÉ then brought it back in time. “Someone asked me the other day what my fear in life was and I was quite shocked at my own response. I had no idea how deeply personal this journey had been for me. I told them I feared that somewhere along this journey of pursuing my dreams I might hit a wall and disappoint my 16-year-old self who grew up always an oddball among society, who wished someday she could be herself and pursue her dreams like anyone else I saw on television.” Holding her speech and the Moon Person, she declared, “Twelve years later I dedicate this award to my 16-year-old self who dreamed and to all those who have watched me grow into the artist I am today. Every single one of you has put me here…. Now I believe there is no imposter in the world when MTV has given me this award at the VMAs.” Rosé thanked her team, her label, her fellow BLACKPINK members and “my loyal fans for believing in me.” “This is a really big moment for 16-year-old me and anyone else who has dreamed of being accepted equally for their hard work,” she said. “As my therapist tells me to do every day, I’d like to thank myself for not giving up even in the toughest of times.” Get weekly rundowns straight to your inbox Sign Up Source link

Later in the show, 5 Seconds of Summer shared the stage with the Jonas Brothers, which the siblings casually joked about in a bit for TikTok: “Do you think they’re gonna play ‘She Looks So Perfect’ by 5 Seconds of Summer?” Nick asks in the clip, to which Joe replies, “No, this is the Jonas Brothers’ concert, silly goose,” before cutting to a concert video of the live collab that did indeed happen that night in L.A. “legends!!” 5SOS commented on the post. Doja Cat Performs ‘Jealous Type’ at VMAs

Doja Cat continued her streak of visually dazzling awards show performances with a fabulously retro presentation of new single “Jealous Type” to kick off the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night (Sept. 7). Explore See latest videos, charts and news After LL Cool J introduced the evening, Doja cut him off mid-sentence via a glitched-out, ‘80s-fied video — then appeared onstage alongside none other than Kenny G, whose smooth jazz nicely led into her lovingly retro single. Doja Cat showed off her choreography skills, vocal theatrics and seasoned rap flow throughout the performance, which culminated in a dance breakdown with the pop star flanked by a guitarist and keytar player strutting with her step by step. The “Jealous Type” showcase was a knowing wink towards MTV’s roots, mixed with a forward-thinking pop sensibility. The audience at the VMAs ceremony responded in kind with rapturous applause. Produced by Y2K and Jack Antonoff, “Jealous Type” was released last month as the lead single to Doja Cat’s upcoming fifth studio album, Vie, which is due out Sept. 26. Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Man’s Best Friend’ Bows at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Sabrina Carpenter scores her second No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart as Man’s Best Friend debuts atop the list dated Sept. 13. It launches with 366,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending Sept. 4, according to Luminate. Of that sum, traditional album sales comprise 224,000. Both figures mark career-high weeks for the singer-songwriter. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Man’s Best Friend also collects 2025’s biggest week, by units and by album sales, for an album by a woman. It logs the third-biggest week of the year among all albums, by units and by album sales. Further, Man’s Best Friend notches Carpenter’s biggest streaming week for an album, as well as 2025’s biggest streaming debut for an album by a woman. Carpenter previously topped the Billboard 200 with Short n’ Sweet, which also debuted at No. 1, in September 2024, and spent four nonconsecutive weeks atop the list. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Sept. 13, 2025-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Sept. 9. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram. Of Man’s Best Friend’s 366,000 first-week equivalent album units, album sales comprise 224,000 (it debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart), SEA units comprise 141,000 (equaling 184.11 million on-demand official streams of the set’s 12 songs; it also debuts at No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums) and TEA units comprise 1,000. In 2025, the three largest weeks for albums, by units, are the opening frames of Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem (493,000), The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow (490,000)and Man’s Best Friend (366,000). In traditional album sales, the three biggest weeks of 2025 belong to the bows of Hurry Up Tomorrow (359,000), Stray Kids’ KARMA (296,000) and Man’s Best Friend (224,000). Man’s Best Friend’s album sales were aided by its availability across 13 vinyl variants (two signed by Carpenter), four CD variants (one signed), two cassette variants, a standard digital download album and a deluxe download edition with a bonus track. As Man’s Best Friend’s first-week SEA units total 141,000, that equates to 184.11 million on-demand official streams of the set’s 12 songs in its first week. That’s the largest streaming debut for an album by a woman in 2025, as well as Carpenter’s best streaming week yet. Man’s Best Friend was preceded by its first single, “Manchild,” which debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 (June 21), marking her second leader after Short n’ Sweet’s “Please Please Please” (in June 2024). Notably, Man’s Best Friend is the first album by a woman to top the Billboard 200 in five months, since Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine was No. 1 on the April 12 chart. Carpenter ends the longest wait for a No. 1 by a woman in three years. The last longer gap between No. 1 albums by a woman was the seven-month gap between the final week atop the list for Adele’s 30 on the Jan. 8, 2022, chart, and the debut of Beyoncé’s Renaissance on the Aug. 13, 2022 chart. Man’s Best Friend is the lone debut in the top 10 on the latest Billboard 200. Holding at No. 2 is the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, which logs its seventh nonconsecutive week in the runner-up slot (its peak), with 120,000 equivalent album units earned (down 5%). Morgan Wallen’s chart-topping I’m the Problem is a non-mover at No. 3 (105,000, down 10%), Stray Kids’ KARMA falls 1-4 in its second week (61,000, down 80%) and Alex Warren’s You’ll Be Alright, Kid climbs 8-5 (38,000, down 1%). Wallen’s former leader One Thing at a Time jumps 10-6 with 35,000 equivalent album units earned (down 6%), Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet skips 15-7 (34,000, up 17%), Gunna’s The Last Wun rises 9-8 (34,000, down 11%) and SZA’s chart-topping SOS ascends 12-9 (34,000, down 1%). BigXthaPlug’s I Hope You’re Happy falls 7-10 in its second week to close out the top 10 (30,000, down 37%).
