Iranian Singer Remembered by Children

Hooshmand Aghili passed away on Sept. 4, 2025, at 88. We were with him, grateful for a lifetime of music that felt like home to millions. He was born in Isfahan in 1937, the city of poets and blue tiles. As a teenager, he trained with the great Taj Esfahani, and by his early years, he was already on Radio Isfahan, a voice people would stop to hear. In Tehran, he kept studying — ever the student — and stepped onto national stages. When Iranian National Television launched, he sang with the National Orchestra and worked alongside master composers and virtuosos, a circle that sharpened his classical phrasing and broadened his reach.  If you grew up in a Persian household anywhere in the world, there’s a good chance one song unlocked a hundred memories: “Farda To Miayee”. It’s the tune that plays when a living room becomes a dance floor and cousins become a choir. For many in our community — and for our family — its first notes are instantly recognizable. He carried other favorites with him too — “Cheraghe Khooneh,” “Darya,” “Ghesehgoo” — songs that traveled across oceans, pressed into vinyl and tape and, later, playlists spanning generations. In 1977, he moved to the United States and built a new life while keeping Iran close. For us — and for so many in the diaspora — his voice became a bridge between places: A few notes and suddenly you were back in your grandparents’ kitchen, or on a moonlit drive down Valiasr.  That was the artist. Here is the man. He was the life of the party — telling jokes, reciting poems, captivating every room with that easy charisma. He was the kindest, sweetest presence, always giving of himself and, often, his belongings. He was a doting father who did the school drop-offs, taught us how to ride a bike, exposed us to all kinds of wonderful experiences — the daily work of unconditional love. He lives on within us, and in his grandson, who bears Hoosh as his middle name, a quiet echo of his legacy. After losing the love of his life, our mother, Farideh, in 2007, he never remarried. Sometimes the truest performance was in the life he lived offstage. What did he mean to Persians — and to music — everywhere? He showed how a classical sensibility could meet popular feelings without losing either one. He proved that a song could be both refined and welcoming, both rooted and open-armed. For decades, he gave Iranians an anthem to gather around and a repertoire that could turn a lonely evening into a remembered celebration. That was his gift: to remind people where they come from and who they belong to — together. To everyone who shared a wedding dance to “Farda To Miayee,” kept “Cheraghe Khooneh” on repeat during long drives or dreamed of the beach while listening to “Darya” — thank you for letting our father’s voice live in your homes and hearts. We’ll keep singing with you. With love and gratitude,Mae & Mike Source link

Keke Palmer & Sean Evans Kiss on ‘Hot Ones’ to Test Their ‘Spark’

Keke Palmer and Sean Evans sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. On the Monday (Sept. 15) episode of Hot Ones, the singer-actress and web-series host brought the heat by sharing a kiss on camera, marking a major moment in their relationship after Evans previously said he had a crush on Palmer. The exchange came right at the end, with the Nope star telling her lunch date, “I saw an interview where you said, like, I was your favorite guest, and all this really sweet stuff.” “I know we’ve just had some wings, but I thought that maybe we could just have a quick smooch to see if there’s a spark,” Palmer added, flashing a shy smile. Evans agreed without hesitation, and the pair stood up and shuffled over to each other in front of the chicken wing-strewn table they’d just been sitting at. With Palmer’s hands on the host’s shoulders and his around her waist, they leaned in and touched lips. “The sparks are sparking!” the True Jackson, V.P. alum cheered, while Evans said, “When I’m dying, and my life flashes before my eyes, I’ll have that snapshot.” The episode marks Palmer’s third time guesting on Hot Ones. After her first two appearances in 2017 and 2021, Evans told Amelia Dimoldenberg on Chicken Shop Date in 2023 that of all his guests, Palmer was the one he had a “crush” on. “Very charming,” he’d said of the Broadway star at the time. “Very charming woman.” Palmer’s latest Hot Ones visit comes shortly after The Pickup — in which she starred alongside Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson — premiered on Prime Video in August. Her next film, Good for Fortune, arrives in theaters in October. She’s also fresh off the release of her album Just Keke, which dropped in June. On the cover, Palmer appears as a plastic doll packaged inside a plastic box, the meaning of which she spoke to Evans about on Monday’s Hot Ones. “Growing up in the industry, I’ve always been seen as a product and I’ve always had to see myself as a product,” she explained. “It’s really a metaphor for that, but also at the end of the day, having this conversation with my audience through the visuals, like, ‘I’m just a girl at the end of the day. I’m just a mom. I’m just Keke.’” Watch Palmer and Evans share a spicy kiss on Hot Ones above. Source link

Dame Dash Threatens Charlamagne Tha God on ‘Breakfast Club’

Dame Dash always brings the fireworks to The Breakfast Club, and he made an explosive return to Power 105.1 on Tuesday (Sept. 16) when he got into a heated argument with Charlamagne Tha God. Explore See latest videos, charts and news “I don’t think you’re a proper representation of the masculine Black man,” Dame said. “Your OG is Wendy Williams; my OG is sitting right here… I’d rather get my ass-whipped than run. You’re proud that you ran.” The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder also said he thinks Charlamagne Tha God is gay (Charlamagne is married to a woman with four children). “It ain’t no disrespect, but I kinda think you’re gay,” he alleged. “You just act a little gay. I got a problem with people that pretend they’re not gay.” The petty back-and-forth continued throughout the interview and escalated to the point that Dash threatened to get physical with CTG. “I can punch you right in your face like a grown man and you won’t do s—t,” he claimed. “If we was on the street right now and you were talking like that, I would have f—ed you up… What I’m saying is when you interrupt me and you say certain things, where I’m from, the masculine man will f—k you up.” They continued to exchange shots at one another, as Charlamagne poked at Dame allegedly being “broke” due to his bankruptcy filings and said he was acting like a “Harlem auntie.” Elsewhere in the interview, Dame Dash claimed he’s the new interim chairman of REVOLT — which VIBE confirmed — and Dash alleged that the deal comes with a possible “pathway to acquisition” of the company. Dame Dash also called cap on 50 Cent’s claims that he purchased ownership rights to Paid in Full, while promising his own version of the film is coming to REVOLT as a docuseries. Miley Cyrus Dropping Fleetwood Mac-Assisted ‘Secrets’ Single For Dad

Miley Cyrus is getting ready to unleash her “Secrets.” Three weeks after teasing the song she said she wrote for dad Billy Ray Cyrus for his 64th birthday, Miley revealed on Tuesday morning (Sept. 16) that “Secrets” will drop this Friday (Sept. 19). She previewed the stand-alone single in an Instagram post featuring a short snippet of her crooning, “Anywhere you go/ You know I’ll follow,” a cappella backed by a chorus of voices shadowing her vocals. In a brief video snippet accompanying the post, Cyrus is seen in close-up staring directly into the camera while wearing what looks like surgical gauze around her chin and head as more white material is blown by a breeze around her face. Cyrus has not said much else about the tune she first teased last month, which Billy Ray said in an Instagram story at the time was a “gift of music” his daughter gave him for his recent bday. Billy noted that the track featured two of his “favorite musicians” from Fleetwood Mac. According to People, Miley previewed the song that features former Mac bandmates drummer Mick Fleetwood and singer/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham in June during her visit to Monica Lewinsky’s podcast, where she talked about how writing it helped her resolve some long-running tensions between herself and her father. “I wrote this song about my dad because I wanted him to tell me even though there were secrets, even though I didn’t really want to know,” she told Lewinsky about the track that finds Miley singing: “Secrets, I want to keep your secrets/ Like sunlight in the shadows/ Like footsteps in the grass/I won’t ever break my promise/ Like a songbird in the silence/ Like stones against the glass.” Cyrus added, “I wanted to be the one he felt safe enough to tell me the things that were damning and damaging to the family. I wanted him to think that as a middle child, I’m old enough that I could take some of that.” Noah Cyrus recently set the record straight on the numerous rumors surrounding an alleged family feud. Noah told People that she tries to keep herself “quite separated” from the family “drama” that has reportedly unfolded since Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus’ breakup after nearly 30 years of marriage in 2022. Speculation has bubbled that Noah and her siblings, including Miley, had taken sides in the break-up. She also said a heated letters posted by older brother Trace on his socials were blown out of proportion.  “Yeah, it emotionally is draining,” she said. “But it doesn’t hurt us or touch us. It’s something that you really learn to keep separate and far away from yourself,” adding, “everybody’s great and loves each other.” Get weekly rundowns straight to your inbox Sign Up Source link

Sabrina Carpenter on Coachella Headlining Gig: ‘Woman of My Word’

Sabrina Carpenter is manifestation’s best friend. On Tuesday (Sept. 16), the pop star was announced as one of three headliners for next year’s Coachella — something she publicly hoped for the last time she performed at the festival. In a post on Instagram shortly after the news went live, Carpenter celebrated her top billing by sharing a clip from her 2024 Coachella set in which she tells the crowd, “See you back here when I headline!” “Woman of my word,” the singer wrote in her caption. Carpenter’s return to Coachella in 2026 will mark a full-circle moment, as the singer’s rise to superstardom was fueled by the release of breakout hit “Espresso” right before she played the festival. The first time she ever performed the song live was at her set in the desert. The single then propelled Carpenter’s success over the next few months as she earned her first-ever No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with 2024’s Short n’ Sweet, which was also bolstered by Billboard Hot 100-topper “Please Please Please,” while “Espresso” ended up at No. 7 on Billboard’s Year-End Hot 100 chart for 2025. In August, she dropped her follow-up, Man’s Best Friend, debuting again atop the Billboard 200. “you guys have made Man’s Best Friend my second #1 album and my highest debut ever,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “that is very surreal!!! i feel so lucky to have such beautiful love and support all around me … to see the way you are all resonating with it just makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.” The Girl Meets World alum will close down the main stage on both Fridays of Coachella 2026, which will take place the weekends of April 10-12 and 17-19. Justin Bieber will headline on the two Saturdays, while Karol G receives top billing on the Sundays. Also locked in for next year’s festival are The xx, The Strokes, Young Thug, Turnstile, KATSEYE, Sexyy Red, Addison Rae, SOMBR, Laufey, Clips and dozens more. Check out the full lineup here. Cardi B Would Get Married Again: ‘I’m a Hopeless Romantic’

Cardi B is in full album rollout mode. Ahead of her highly anticipated follow-up to her debut Invasion of Privacy, the Bronx superstar sat down with TODAY With Jenna & Friends to promote Am I the Drama?, set to drop Friday (Sept. 19). She was asked about her relationship with New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs. “You got a new man, right? Are the sparks sparking?” Jenna asked, with Cardi replying that the sparks are, “Sparklin’, honey. Fourth of July,” before revealing that the two became acquainted through mutual friends. Cardi also said that she plans on supporting Diggs by attending games when she’s finished with her album duties. “I be at the screen every Sunday, every day, cursing people out. Pass the ball!” she said. “But after this whole album thing, I’m going to every single game. Every single one of them.” Cardi — who is in the midst of a very public divorce from Offset — was then asked how being a single mom affects her dating life and said that her devotion to her three children is no secret. “Everybody knows how devoted I am as a mother,” she answered. “So, they just know that it’s like, this is what I come with. I come with a luggage, a baggage, a book bag, a purse! I come with everything.” When she was asked if she would ever consider getting married again, the “WAP” rapper didn’t hesitate in her reply. “Yeah, I would get married again,” Cardi said. “I believe in love. I’m like a hopeless romantic.” She also stuck around to help interview Matthew McConaughey about his new poetry book, Poems & Prayers, and said, “I need that book, I need a good prayer!”  McConaughey said he met Cardi six years ago at Guy Oseary and Madonna’s Oscar party. “I remember that party I felt like, ‘Ahh, so famous!’” she said. They talked about him being referenced in “Wanna Be,” after Megan Thee Stallion was talking about “fine white men.” He then asked about the “My toes white like Matthew McConaughey” line and she said she mispronounced his last name in order for the rhyme to work. “Megan Thee Stallion, she made a reference about like you know, ‘fine white mens,’ and I was like, ‘Ooh, fine white men! White toes! Matthew McConaughey.’ But I said your last name wrong because I had to rhyme it… He a poet, he knows about it. We gotta fit it.” Cardi’s sophomore album drops Friday and the Billboard cover star recently announced the 30-date Little Miss Drama Tour that’s set to kick off on Feb. 11. Source link

Cam’ron Removes Adrien Broner for Disrespecting Co-Host Stat Baby

It was an early round knockout for Adrien Broner when Cam’ron removed the boxer from an episode of It Is What It Is on Tuesday (Sept. 16) after AB repeatedly disrespected co-host Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Cam and Mase had Broner on to recap the Canelo Álvarez and Terence “Bud” Crawford fight over the weekend in Las Vegas, but things got awkward when the show attempted to transition into looking back at week 2 in the NFL. Broner cheekily addressed the show’s NFL analyst, a woman named Saudi. “If that’s Arabia, I, Saudi,” he said. He then focused on Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson, where he asked about her weight and then proceeded to comment on her looks. “What you weigh, Stat?” he said. “I love you, I swear to God. Ay Stat, could you stop smiling? … I’m mesmerized by Stat.” Cam’ron told Broner to knock off the flirting, letting him know that Stat Baby’s boyfriend was on set, but he didn’t listen. Within a matter of minutes, Killa Cam pulled the plug on Broner and kicked him off the show. “We gon’ have to ask you to go, my n—a. I’ma pay you for your time for being here. I appreciate you and I love you, my n—a. I asked you the first time,” he said. “I don’t have no problems with you, but I’ma pay you for your time, but you can’t violate.” Cam took out a bag filled with cash and counted up what he owed Broner before removing him from the set. “I told you n—s boyfriends was here, but I appreciate your time,” he added. “But I’m not gonna sit here and not value your time neither.” Fans and peers in the industry had plenty to say in the It Is What It Is comment section, as some speculated about Broner being under the influence. “Seeing someone protect and value their lady cohosts is dope,” The Ringer‘s Van Lathan wrote to IG. Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders chimed in: “Is this Real ? Maaaan Come on man Boosie voice.” It Is What It Is is also teasing the release of deleted scenes at 5 p.m. ET. Watch the episode below. Sergio Ramos Releases Debut Single ‘Cibeles,’ Talks Recording Career

After exiting Real Madrid in 2021 — spending a remarkable 16 years with the Spanish club — Sergio Ramos spent the next two years hunkered down writing and producing music. It was then that “Cibeles” was born — an ultra personal song, a love track at its core, about his bittersweet departure from the Spanish soccer team after 16 seasons and 22 titles. Explore See latest videos, charts and news “I hope you do well, although without you I feel bad,” the 39-year-old soccer star sings evocatively over an Afrobeat-tinged rhythm. “It’s very emotional, sentimental, it’s a love story, about everything I’ve experienced over many years with the best team in the world, and well, it tells a little bit about how I felt at that moment,” Ramos tells Billboard over Zoom, just days after releasing the Ovy on the Drums and Yeray Music-produced single. In addition to being a global fútbol icon, who won the 2010 World Cup with Spain, this isn’t Romas’ first foray in music. In fact, he has previously collaborated with Niña Pastori and Los Yakis, releasing at least five collaborations over the past 10 years. But “Cibeles” marks a new era for Ramos, who today plays for the Mexican team Rayados de Monterrey. His debut solo single is the first of several songs Ramos has penned in a notebook he’s kept for nearly 12 years, he says. And it’s the beginning of a new era in his music career, a more “serious” one, he explains. Which is why he’s recruited an A-team, including renowned producers like Ovy on the Drums, creative agency Little Spain and Bad Bunny’s record label, Rimas Entertainment. “When I don’t know something, I like to learn from the best,” he says about the team he assembled to help launch his music career. “After doing a little market research and being lucky enough to meet most of the artists I admire, I realized they were the best people to accompany me on this adventure, and show that we are entering a new industry in a serious way.” Below, Ramos talks passionately about music being in his blood, why he’s “not doing this on a whim,” and dreams of touring in the future. Although “Cibeles” came out a few days ago, I imagine you’re still processing the release of such a personal song. I’m personally very excited about the worldwide response to the song, and very happy that people can connect with it. Despite having collaborated with other artists years ago, this is my first personal venture. I composed “Cibeles” when I left Real Madrid four years ago, and well, it’s very emotional, sentimental, it’s a love story, about everything I’ve experienced over many years with the best team in the world. It tells a little bit about how I felt at that moment and, well, it infects people with that emotion, even though it has been a story of love and pain with such strong feelings. I am still digesting the impact it has had. What was writing “Cibeles” like for you and do you write often? I have a notebook that I’ve been using for almost 12 years to write down thoughts, experiences, ideas — and I have many things that, God willing, will come out in the future. I also started working with Yeray Music, my producer in Madrid, who was locked up with me for the last two years in Sevilla and Madrid making new beats, different styles but all modern music, which is where we want to go. A couple months ago, Ovy on the Drums, with whom I have a very good relationship, was in Madrid and I showed him what we had recorded. He took it from there, and added his signature style that he has developed over so many years in music. Everything that Yeray and I worked on, and then with Ovy, is what makes the production so complete, balanced, and on par with the songs that are successful today. “Cibeles” has a very special story behind it. I wanted it to be the first song I debuted as a solo artist. Every three or four months I’ll be releasing a song so that the transition isn’t so sudden. That’s what people will appreciate, that I’ve had music in my blood since I was little, it’s been with me. What was that collaboration with Ovy on the Drums like? We showed him the song practically as we had it, with a very defined base. I came to Mexico to play seven months ago, which is when Ovy took the song and worked on it remotely — but we were constantly on Zoom or WhatsApp. He was telling me what he liked, what he didn’t, where he wanted to take it and where he didn’t. I wanted to distance myself a little from our roots, not so traditional, and for the song to sound more to what Latin music sounds like today. I have another song called “Raíces” that has a flamenco touch that will come out later. You assembled a great team for this first solo single: Ovy on the Drums, Little Spain for the music video and Rimas as your label, in partnership with your own label SR93. Talk to me about that. When I don’t know something, I like to learn from the best. After doing a little market research and being lucky enough to meet most of the artists I admire, I asked those who are involved in this style of music a few questions. I realized they were the best and most suitable people to accompany me on this adventure, and show that we are entering a new industry in a serious way. That combination of elements is what makes you stand out, and that has led to the acceptance of the song and its worldwide impact. Was there anything you’ve applied in soccer that you apply to music today? People who succeed don’t do so by chance; it’s
