Madonna Announces Return to Warner Records, Teases 2026 Dance Album

Madonna is going back to the start. Warner Records announced on Thursday (Sept. 18) that the pop icon is returning to her original label home after nearly two decades away. The best-selling female artist of all time has signed with Warner for what the label called her “highly anticipated, upcoming new dance album.” Madonna celebrated the return in an Instagram post in which she wrote, “Almost 2 decades later — And it feels like home with Warner Records! Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor, Back to where it all began! COADF – Pt. 2 2026.” The post included a series of pictures of the 67-year-old superstar seated on mattress on the floor in a gauzy light pink nightgown staring at the camera with an old-fashioned typewriter at her feet, striking the kinds of sultry looks that have been her signature for more nearly half a century. The final slide consisted of a snap of a pair of gold heels and what looked like a black purse with the message “P–sy Power” in rhinestones across the front. Warner Records was Madonna’s home for the first 25 years of her career, starting in 1981, when she signed with the Seymour Stein-run label subsidiary Sire Records. She released her self-titled debut on the label in 1983, which spawned a series of indelible early dance pop hits, including “Everybody,” “Burning Up,” “Holiday,” “Lucky Star” and “Borderline.” ”From being a struggling artist in New York City to signing a record deal to release just three singles it seemed at the time my world would never be the same again and in fact that couldn’t have been truer,” Madonna said in a statement announcing the deal. “Since the beginning Warner Records has been a real partner with me. I am happy to be reunited and look forward to the future, making music, doing the unexpected while perhaps provoking a few needed conversations.” The deal will bear immediate fruit with a new album due out in 2026, marking the singer’s first full-length collection of new songs since 2019’s Madame X. According to the release, the untitled new album will find Madonna re-teaming with producer/songwriter Stuart Price for the sequel to her Confessions on a Dance Floor LP, which featured the hits “Hung Up” and “Sorry.” ”We are honored to welcome Madonna back home to Warner Records. Madonna isn’t just an artist — she’s the blueprint, the rule-breaker, the ultimate cultural juggernaut. For decades, she has not only defined the sound of global pop music but also reshaped culture itself with her vision, innovation, and fearless artistry,” said Warner Records co-chairmen Tom Carson and Aaron Bay-Schuck in a statement. “This signing represents a historic, full circle moment, one that brings her back to the label where it all began and reaffirms her unparalleled influence, setting the stage for an exciting new era of creativity and impact.” She remained on Warner through her record-setting run in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, during which time she released such iconic LPs as Like A Virgin (1984), True Blue (1986), Like a Prayer (1989), Erotica (1992), Bedtime Stories (1994), Ray of Light (1998), Music (2000), American Life (2003), the original Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005) and Hard Candy (2008). She hopped to Interscope Records in 2012 for her MDNA LP. At press time no release date has been announced for the upcoming album. In July, Madonna released her long-rumored Veronica Electronica album, a collection of eight rare and unreleased remixes of songs from her beloved 1998 Ray of Light album. Source link

Delayed BBC Ozzy Osbourne ‘Coming Home’ Doc on Final Years Rescheduled

The BBC has announced the new broadcast date for an Ozzy Osbourne documentary that was pulled from its schedule at the last minute in August due to the family’s request. According to an update posted on Wednesday (Sept. 17), the one-hour movie Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home — originally slated to air on Aug. 18 — will now screen on BBC One and iPlayer on Oct. 2. The film covering the final few years of the rock icon’s life was pulled from the network’s schedule just hours before it was slated to screen, with the network saying that the move came in an effort at “respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film.” The initial air date would have been less than a month after Osbourne died at age 76 on July 22, just two weeks after performing his final show at his home soccer stadium, Villa Park, in Birmingham, England as part of the all-star Back to the Beginning tribute show. The movie will cover the final three years of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s life as he and wife/manager Sharon Osbourne moved back to their native U.K. after years of living in Los Angeles, as well as his “heroic” fight to overcome a series of medical issues to return to the stage for the July 5 show in Ozzy’s native Birmingham. An updated description of the “intimate” doc says it will provide a “candid and moving portrait of one of Birmingham’s favorite songs, and the remarkable relationship with Sharon as the couple faced a “monumental battle, both on a professional and personal level” to overcome the effects of Parkinson’s disease on the heavy metal icon, as well as the aftermath of a difficult spinal surgery. “Pulling off either the move or the gig will be a phenomenal achievement, and son Jack is worried about the toll of relocating to a country that his parents have barely spent time in over the last two decades, as well as the impact on such close-knit family dynamics,” reads the description. “But Ozzy has never been a man to take no for an answer, and with Sharon’s support he sets about achieving his goals with the determination, blistering honesty and razor-sharp sense of humor that have endeared him to millions for over 50 years. He will stop at nothing to make his body work as well as it used to, with the film capturing remarkable levels of resolve.” The BBC doc will hit screen just five days before another emotional doc covering Ozzy’s final years, Ozzy: No Escape From Now, which will follow the rocker in the six years before his death. That movie, directed by BAFTA Award-winner Tania Alexander will premiere on Paramount+ on Oct. 7 in the U.S. and internationally (excluding Japan). The project produced in collaboration with the Osbourne family, will feature Sharon, as well as their children, Aimee, Jack and Kelly, describing the devastating effects of a late-night fall Ozzy suffered in Feb. 2019 that led to the cancellation of his planned two-and-a-half-year farewell tour. In addition to the Osbourne family, No Escape From Now will feature interviews with Ozzy’s Sabbath and solo band members guitarists Tony Iommi and Zakk Wylde, as well as the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Rage Agains the Machine’s Tom Morello, Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan, Metallica singer/guitarist James Hetfield and bassist Robert Trujillo, Billy Idol, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, Tool’s Maynard James Keenan and many others. Miley Cyrus Dropping Deluxe Edition of ‘Something Beautiful’

Miley Cyrus is prepping an expanded version of her Something Beautiful visual album. The singer announced on Wednesday (Sept. 17) in an Instagram post that the deluxe edition of her most ambitious LP will drop on Friday (Sept. 19) and that the refresh will feature the original album’s 13 songs, plus two new tracks featuring rock icons. Cyrus has been teasing one of the tracks for several weeks, “Secrets,” a sweeping ballad featuring former Fleetwood Mac bandmates drummer Mick Fleetwood and guitarist/singer Lindsey Buckingham. The expanded version of her ninth studio album will also feature a collaboration with David Byrne called “Lockdown.” The latter is her latest team-up with the 73-year-old Talking Heads legend, who also joined her in 2022 for her NBC New Year’s Eve special, where they performed a duet on David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” as well as Byrne’s “Everybody’s Coming To My House.” The singer has said that she wrote “Secrets” for her dad Billy Ray Cyrus’ 64th birthday. She previewed the soaring single in a post earlier this week in which she sings, “Anywhere you go/ You know I’ll follow.” While Cyrus has not said much about the ballad she first teased last month, Billy Ray said in an Instagram story at the time that it was a “gift of music” his daughter gave him for his recent bday and that it features two of his “favorite musicians” from Fleetwood Mac. Something Beautiful was released in May and it features collaborations members of the bands Alvvays, Model/Actriz, the War on Drugs, as well as Danielle Haim, Flea, model Naomi Campbell and Brittany Howard. The album was accompanied by a musical film written and co-directed by Cyrus that premiered at this year’s Tribeca Festival and then played in theaters for one-night-only in June before moving to streaming on Hulu. Together For Palestine Benefit Concert in London Raises Over $2m

Brian Eno’s Together For Palestine concert took place in London on Wednesday evening (Sep. 17) with early estimates indicating that the benefit gig raised over £1.5 million ($2m) and counting for Palestinian-led charities and organisations. Explore See latest videos, charts and news The all-star concert was held at the OVO Wembley Arena and featured a series of performances and speeches by 150 leading artists and figures from around the world, including Eno, Blur’s Damon Albarn, Paul Weller, PinkPantheress and Palestinian artists Elyanna and Saint Levant. The funds raised by the concert will be distributed by the pro-immigration charity Choose Love, to organizations such as Taawon, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and Palestine Medical Relief Service. Eno, alongside fellow producers Khalid Abdalla, Khaled Ziada and Tracey Seaward, announced the concert in July. He wrote, “What we are witnessing in Gaza isn’t a mystery, and neither is it a blur of competing narratives making it ‘hard to understand’,” it read in part. “When dozens of non-partisan organisations like Amnesty International and Doctors Without Borders describe it as genocide, the moral line is clear. We can’t remain silent. Which is why I’m helping to organise Together for Palestine – a night of music, reflection and hope at Wembley Arena.”  On Tuesday (Sep. 16), the UN’s commission for inquiry declared that Israel had committed genocide during its ongoing military operations in Palestine. Since the Oct. 7 attacks, which saw terrorist group Hamas murder 1,200 Israeli citizens and take 251 hostages, over 64,964 Palestinian citizens have been killed by Israeli attacks, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. Over 90% of homes in Palestine are estimated to have been damaged or destroyed with the vast majority of the population displaced and requiring urgent aid.  The concert, hosted by comedian Guz Khan, was streamed live on YouTube. Prior to the event, Billie Eilish and brother Finneas appeared alongside actors Cillian Murphy, Javier Bardem, Brian Cox, Joaquin Phoenix and more in a short video pledging support for Palestine people. The evening hosted a number of special musical performances. Eno teamed up with Albarn, Weller, Nadine Shah, Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor and Adnan Jourban for a rare public performance; he performed a piece of music especially composed for the event, before reciting Khaled Juma’s poem Oh Rascal Children of Gaza. The show’s visuals were designed by Malak Mattar, a painter known as the “Picasso of Palestine.” Portishead reunited for a special pre-recorded performance of their 1994 song “Roads,” and Albarn’s Gorillaz joined Omar Souleyman for a rendition of “Damascus” which appears on the animated band’s upcoming album, The Mountain. Albarn also joined the London Arab Orchestra and the Juzour Dance Collective for a number of traditional Palestinian songs. Annie Lennox contributed a pre-recorded performance of her hit single “Why?,” amending the closing lyrics to: “This is the sound of drones and guns/ Watch the people run run run/ Shoot to kill them just for fun/ Bodies falling one by one.” The new version, “Why? – For Gaza,” will be available on streaming platforms in the coming days with all proceeds from the single going to the Together for Palestine fund. Performances on the night also came from Neneh Cherry, Greentea Peng, and Dan Smith (Bastille), Cat Burns, Rachel Chinouriri, Celeste, James Blake, Sampha, Jamie xx and Paloma Faith. The performances were interspersed with speeches, poems and recitals by actors Riz Ahmed, Guy Pearce, Benedict Cumberbatch, Florence Pugh, Richard Gere, and more. Broadcaster Mehdi Hasan was joined by Palestinian reporter Yara Eid in a segment focusing on the targeting of the press in the conflict area by Israeli forces. Manchester United legend Eric Cantona made a surprise appearance alongside Mahmoud Sarsak, whose teammate Suleiman al-Obeid – referred to as the “Palestinian Pele” – was killed by Israeli forces while waiting for humanitarian aid. During the segment, Cantona called for a boycott of Israeli teams: “Clubs everywhere must refuse to play Israeli teams, current players everywhere must refuse to play against Israeli teams… football fans around the world, recognize your power – those teams represent you. It’s time for everyone to get off the sidelines, who will follow me?” A number of musicians did not perform, but appeared with speeches. “I think a lot about what I can do, not only as an individual, but as an artist,” said PinkPantheress in her segment. “We have a responsibility to use our platforms. Neutrality or silence shouldn’t be an option. Give Palestine your voice, and when your voice goes hoarse, hang your flags, wear your keffiyeh. Show them we are here.” See footage from her clip below. Merchandise from the event is available to purchase here with all proceeds being directly donated to the overall fund. Direct donations can be made here. Source link

Tame Impala Shares ‘Deadbeat’ Tracklist, Fresh Snippet

Tame Impala‘s fifth studio album Deadbeat is still a month away, but we now know a little more what it will sound like. Kevin Parker‘s psychedelic pop project has dropped the 12-track setlist for Deadbeat, using the platform of his socials to do so. Tame Impala gets word out with a simple post, which features a spinning, colored vinyl with the album’s tracks flashing up, three at a time. If that doesn’t get the juices pumping, switch on the audio. The soundbed to Tame Impala’s post is a snippet of a new track. On it, Parker sings: “In the end I hope it’s you and me / In the darkness I would never leave, you / Ever seen me in the light of day / It’s far too late, the time must come.” Deadbeat is primed for a global release Oct. 17th, Tame Impala’s first through the Sony Music machine, by way of a new deal with Columbia Records, ending a years-long relationship with Modular Recordings and Universal Music. Explore See latest videos, charts and news The first two tracks from it are the lengthy, dancefloor ready “End of Summer,” and the latest release, “Loser,” a funky throwback track that’s accompanied with a music video directed by Kristofski and starring Stranger Things‘ Joe Keery (aka Djo). Another cut, understood to be “Ethereal Connection,” was gifted to the world as an untitled b-side for the 12-inch of “End of Summer”, which was sold on the Aussie artist’s website with a limited number of copies. As previously reported, Deadbeat is inspired by the “bush doof” culture of Parker’s native, Western Australia rave scene. A message on the pre-order page for the Deadbeat vinyl reckons “Parker sculpts a collection of wickedly potent club-psych explorations as a vehicle for some of his most direct, brain-wormy songwriting to date, recasting Tame Impala as a kind of future primitive rave act in the process.” Deadbeat will drop more than half a decade after The Slow Rush, from February 2020, a record that went to No. 1 on Australia’s ARIA Chart, and earned career peak positions on the Billboard 200 and Official U.K. Albums Chart UK, both at No. 3. Its predecessor, 2015’s Currents, topped the Australian chart and crashed the top 5 in the U.S. (at No. 4) and in the U.K. (No. 3), where Parker and his Tame Impala bandmates collected the Brit Award for best international group. Although Tame Impala is not currently on tour, Parker will enjoy the southern summer when he takes the stage as a a special guest DJ for Justice’s Australian arena tour in December 2025.
