Selena Gomez Shows Martin Short Her Engagement Ring at Golden Globes

Selena Gomez and Martin Short shared a sweet moment at the 2025 Golden Globes, with the singer/actress adorably showing off her brand-new engagement ring from fiancé Benny Blanco to her Only Murders in the Building co-star. In a clip captured by E! News at the Sunday awards show, Gomez and Short sit next to each other at a table as the latter holds the former’s left hand and gently spins her glittering marquise diamond on her finger. At one point, the comedian’s jaw drops with admiration while the “Love On” singer points out something about the band. Gomez and Blanco got engaged in December after about a year and a half of dating, with the “Eastside” hitmaker popping the question over a Taco Bell picnic. Sharing photos on Instagram, the Rare Beauty founder wrote at the time, “forever begins now..” Shortly after the couple announced their engagement, Short and fellow Only Murders star Steve Martin congratulated the Wizards of Waverly Place alum on Instagram. “Congratulations to Benny and Selena, from her two weird uncles,” they wrote in a post on Martin’s account Dec. 12. Blanco was at his fiancée’s side at the 2025 Globes — a full year after the couple first attended the awards show together in 2024. Gomez was nominated in two categories this year: best actress in a TV series, musical or comedy for her performance in Only Murders, as well as best supporting actress for her role in Emilia Pérez. The first award ended up going to Hacks‘ Jean Smart, while the second went to Gomez’s Emilia costar Zoe Saldaña. Short and Martin were both nominated for the Hulu crime-comedy series too, earning nods in the best actor in a TV series, musical or comedy category. Both lost to The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White. And though Blanco was the only person in their party of four not to be nominated for any Globes, the producer ended the night a winner. “Got to take home the best award of the night,” he wrote on Instagram Stories after the ceremony, sharing a video of Gomez looking stunning in her gown. Riley Green Visits Emergency Room After Hunting Accident

A recent hunting trip led to the emergency room for country singer/songwriter Riley Green. “At the emergency room ’cause I stepped on a nail,” Alabama native Green said in a video posted to his Instagram Stories, which showed Green and a friend sitting in a hospital room. The camera panned down to show that one of Green’s boots had been removed. “Impaled my foot, and when I took my boot off, corn fell all over the floor,” Green said in the video, before laughing. “The lady came in here wanting to know where all the corn came from. It’s from my boot. You don’t want me to take this other one off, either,” he said, laughing again and adding, “It’s real-world problems.” Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news He posted other photos and videos to his IG Stories chronicling his emergency room visit; one photo depicted Green’s bootless foot (the photo was captioned “Hospital vibes”). In another video, Green’s friend gets to the important matter: asking when Green can resume hunting. “Just hit us with it straight, doc,” Green said, before the doctor replied that Green could resume hunting immediately. Indeed, Green wasn’t off his feet for long. On Monday afternoon (Jan. 6), he posted another video to his Instagram Stories, which depicted Green back out in the snowy woods, ready to put in another round of hunting. “Somethin’ might be wrong with me at this point,” he captioned the video. Beyond hunting, Green has been gearing up for his headlining Damn Country Music Tour, which launches in March. The tour will feature his “You Look Like You Love Me” collaborator Ella Langley on all tour dates, while Drake White, Vincent Mason, Lauren Watkins, Jake Worthington, Preston Cooper, Erik Dylan, Wyatt McCubbin, and Channing Wilson will open various shows throughout the tour. Green recently earned the Billboard Country Airplay chart-topper “You Look Like You Love Me” in collaboration with Langley. The tour follows Green’s most recent album, Don’t Mind If I Do, which also includes another Langley collaboration on the title track, and features the fan-favorite favorite track “Jesus Saves.” Source link

Latin Urban Artists Who’ve Experimented with Salsa Music

With a booming wave of salsa artists including Luis Figueroa and Christian Alicea, there’s no doubt that the tropical genre is catching the attention of the new generation. More so, reggaetón artists are also dipping their toes into salsa music, introducing it to their younger and/or non-Latino fans.  Salsa music has its origins Cuba and Puerto Rico, and later developed and became popular in New York City in the 1960s and 1970s at the helm of iconic orchestras and artists such as El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Fania All-Star, Celia Cruz, Héctor Lavoe, Grupo Niche, Willie Colón and Ruben Blades. In the ‘80s and ‘90s, acts such as Eddie Santiago, Marc Anthony, Luis Enrique, La India, DLG, Jerry Rivera and Victor Manuelle propelled the genre to greater commercial success. Now — amid the dominance of Latin urban music and música Mexicana — a new set of fans are discovering the tropical, rhythmic melodies of the Caribbean.  Notably, Rauw Alejandro first surprised fans when he co-headlined the Global Citizen Festival in New York City last September with a cover of the timeless tune “Tú Con Él” by Frankie Ruiz. The feedback was so impressive that he made it part of his 2024 album Cosa Nuestra. Similarly, Bad Bunny included three salsa tracks on his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos: “Nuevayol,” “Baile Inolvidable” and “La Mudanza.”    And like Rauw and Bunny, many Latin urban stars have not shied away from experimenting with the rich and flavorful genre. See the list below: Bad Bunny Image Credit: Eric Rojas Bad Bunny has done it all: merengue, dembow, bossa nova, bolero, and now, salsa. On his sixth studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, the trap artist paid homage to Puerto Rican salsa on multiple tracks. Opening track “Nuevayol,” samples El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico’s “Un Verano en Nueva York” before transitioning into unstoppable dembow and reggaeton rhythms; “Baile Inolvidable” is a saucy salsa tune backed by live instrumentations — congas, piano, trumpets and all that jazz; and “La Mudanza” fuses salsa, reggaetón and bomba. Daddy Yankee In 2020, Daddy Yankee and Marc Anthony came together for “De Vuelta Pa’ La Vuelta,” which hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart in 2021. While the Sergio George-produced track may be pure salsa, Yankee doesn’t hold back in his fast-paced rapping verses that include the hook “de vuelta pa’ la vuelta,” which loosely translates to “I’m back on the market” after a break up. Prior to collabing with Marc, Yankee reeled in Andy Montañez for “Sabor a Melao” on his Barrio Fino album. Guaynaa For the holiday season, Guaynaa delivered a four-song EP titled Aguinaldo (which means “Christmas bonus”). Produced by Andy Clay, the Puerto Rican artist paid tribute to four salsa classics: Lalo Rodriguez’s “Ven Devórame Otra Vez”; Tommy Olivencia’s “Lobo Domesticado”; and Paquito Gomez’s “Cinco Noches,” and “La Esencia del Guaguancó” by Johnny Pacheco and Pedro Juan Rodríguez Ferrer. Jay Wheeler In early 2024, Sergio George released “La Puerta” in collaboration with Puerto Rican urban act Jay Wheeler. Marking the first single off of his new album ATACA SERGIO, URBAN SALSA SESSIONS, the innovative song combines catchy salsa melodies with immersive urban rhythms to tell a cautionary story about the consequences of letting pride interfere with love. Karol G Image Credit: Christopher Polk At the 2024 Billboard Women in Music, where she received the coveted Woman of the Year award, Karol G performed a salsa version of her fan-favorite tune “Amargura.” Joined by an all-girl salsa band, including Emily Estefan (Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s daughter) on percussion, the number was arranged and produced by Sergio George along with her longtime musical director Rob Trujillo. Lenny Tavárez Lenny Tavárez brought a fan-favorite track to life with “El Yate.” The Puerto Rican artist first teased the unreleased song a couple of years ago, when he shared a home video on social media performing the song with his acoustic guitar. After much praise from his followers, the urban star teamed up with award-winning producer Sergio George for a flavorful salsa version. Tavárez later teamed up with Christian Alicea and Rafa Pabön for another salsa tune, “Qué Culpa Tengo Yo.” Manuel Turizo Image Credit: Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images After achieving success with “La Bachata” and “El Merengue,” both of which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart, Manuel Turizo dived into other eclectic rhythms, including salsa on “Sigueme Besando Asi,” focus single of his latest album 201. “I like trying different and new things. At the end of the day, it’s about having fun with music. I think that if you do the same thing all the time, you lose the magic,” he previously said to Billboard. Myke Towers Though he became a household name with his rap bars and Latin trap sound, Myke Towers is as versatile as it gets. On his album LVEU: Vive La Tuya…No La Mia, the Puerto Rican artist raps over a sensual salsa-infused cha-cha-cha in closing track “La Ronda,” declaring in the lyrics that he “dances to whatever rhythm is played for him.” Nathy Peluso “Puro Veneno” and “Mafiosa” are two of the times that Nathy Peluso gave classic salsa a modern twist. “It’s a genre that brings me a lot of joy, a lot of happiness in my everyday life. I hang on to salsa to survive,” she previously told Billboard. “I wanted to loosen the cliché salsa. Present something fresh. Not only do 70-year-old Latin men listen to it. Salsa is cool, salsa is dangerous.” Rauw Alejandro Image Credit: Marco Perretta An homage to his Puerto Rican roots and the salsa romántica of the late ‘70s, Rauw keeps the essence of Frankie Ruiz’s “Tú Con Él” intact, but sings it in a different style. The song’s impact on social media has the new generation connecting with their parents and grandparents, further demonstrating Rauw’s purpose with Cosa Nuestra: heritage and community. The song hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart. Ryan Castro Image Credit: Juan Pablo On his debut album, Ryan Castro unleashed a slow heartbreak

Diddy Accusers’ Lawyers Slam Nikki Glaser’s Golden Globes Joke

Nikki Glaser, who hosted the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday night (Jan. 5), is facing criticism after poking fun at the allegations against Diddy during her opening monologue. Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news Attorney Ariel Mitchell, who represents a number of clients accusing Diddy of sexual assault, told TMZ that she “hopes Nikki herself has never been sexually assaulted or mocked for it,” and that “making light of this ugly situation is exactly why so many sexual assault victims never come forward and report their abuse.” Per the publication, another attorney of Diddy accusers, Tyrone Blackburn, said he’d “expect a comedian of Nikki’s success to be skilled enough to find humor that doesn’t make light of drugging and rape.” While joking about the Zendaya-starring Challengers, Glaser said during her monologue, “That movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card. She continued, “I mean, seriously, I’m upset too. The after party isn’t going to be as good this year, but we have to move on. A Stanley Tucci freak-off doesn’t have the same ring to it. No baby oil this year — just lots of olive oil.” The disgraced music mogul was arrested in September in New York City, and Manhattan federal prosecutors are accusing him of operating a criminal enterprise centered on his “pervasive pattern of abuse toward women.” If convicted of the charges, Combs is facing a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of life behind bars. Diddy pleaded not guilty and his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has maintained his client’s innocence. He has repeatedly been denied bond and will remain behind bars until his trial begins in May 2025. Zach Bryan Ex Brianna LaPaglia on What She Looks For in a Boyfriend

On Sunday’s Golden Globes red carpet, media personality Brianna LaPaglia (a.k.a. Brianna Chickenfry) spoke to Us Weekly about what characteristics she’s looking for in a potential new romantic partner, and LaPaglia appeared to throw a little shade at her ex, “I Remember Everything” hitmaker Zach Bryan, with her response. Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news “Height, hair and kindness,” she listed. The now-single LaPaglia noted to the outlet that she’s in a happy place at the moment, saying, “I’m doing good. I’m doing well, I’m doing well. I feel like myself again. It’s good to be back here. Like last year, I was in a bad spot when I was here and now, I’m in a good spot. I’m just excited to be here and I’m like, ‘Where’s the champagne?’ Let me have some fun.” LaPaglia also noted that she recently filmed an episode with her BFFs podcast co-host Josh Richards and that the two had made a bet that LaPaglia can’t have a new romantic partner until mid-2025 — and that she’s not looking to quickly return to the dating scene. “Dating looks like a dark hole that I don’t want to jump into,” LaPaglia said. “Actually, we made a bet on the first episode of BFFs: I’m not allowed to have a boyfriend until summer. … June 21st. He doesn’t think I can do it. I think I can do it. I have no boyfriends.” Bryan and LaPaglia began dating in 2023 and made their debut together on the Grammys red carpet in February 2024. In October, Bryan confirmed the couple’s split. Shortly after their split, LaPaglia opened up in a BFFs episode about her experience following the 2024 Golden Globes, where she wore a sparkly, golden-hued gown with a high slit. During that BFFs episode, LaPaglia alleged that she and Bryan argued after the Golden Globes, noting Bryan apparently “didn’t like” her choice of outfit to that year’s ceremony. “He said he didn’t want to date someone that presents themselves that way. And he unfollowed me, he unfollowed everyone. … When I flew home — I flew home after the Golden Globes. He ruined my night,” she said. “He’s like happy in the beginning, then all of a sudden it turns to, ‘I can’t believe you’re wearing this, blah blah blah blah.’ It ruins the night. I’m crying to Grace [O’Malley] the whole f—ing night, and he unfollows me because of the dress. He tells me all the Instagram pictures that I have to delete, and I’m like, ‘OK, yeah, I guess.’ He makes me believe that I have to change my image to keep up with his or something.” Billboard has reached out to Bryan’s camp for comment. Kai Cenat Says ‘Beef’ With Kanye West ‘Is Over’

Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) and streamer Kai Cenat seem to be on good terms these days. Over the weekend, the Chicago rapper posted a picture on his Instagram Story of a horse wearing a Bully stable blanket standing in the middle of the room Cenat uses to stream his popular Twitch show. Cenat, however, seemed confused about the meaning of the picture and said so during a stream. “I don’t even know what this sh-t means,” he said. “Now, listen, I know he’s got an album coming out. And I’m not gon’ lie. I think I’m officially a part of the rollout. I don’t know, though. Brilliant move by him. I think I’m a part of the rollout. Is he gonna diss me?” Kai Cenat reacts to Kanye’s recent Instagram story “I know he’s got an album coming out, and I’m not gonna lie—I think I’m officially part of the rollout. Brilliant move by him. Apparently, the clothes were too big for Kai and he complained about it on his stream. “I said a small, not an extra-extra large. The f–k am I supposed to do with this sh-t?” Ye then DM’d him and accused the Kai of being “controlled” and “a pawn.” While Ye’s 11th solo album doesn’t have a release date, he’s continued to tease the album and released Bully‘s cover art in October.
