Oasis’ Noel Gallagher Says ‘It’s Great Being Back in a Band With Liam’

So far, Oasis have let the music do the talking. Liam and Noel Gallagher have just wound up the first round of UK and Irish dates on their sold-out Live ’25 tour and in a testament to the breathless enthusiasm that’s greeted their first round of shows in more than 16 years they’ve hardly had to talk up the dates at all. In fact, until Tuesday (Aug. 19) neither brother had sat down for a proper interview about the shows at all. But Noel, who like his younger sibling singer Liam, is simply mad about football, called in to his favorite drive-time sports chat show, talkSPORT with Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent, to chat about Man City, and, of course, how things are going with the formerly battling brothers. Saying he was feeling “a bit shaky” after the band’s two-night run at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday (Aug. 16) and Sunday (Aug. 17), Gallagher summed up the weekend by saying, “there was a lot of singing, a lot of drinking and a lot of talking nonsense… it was quite a night.” Noel said he’s on “top of the world” at the moment, professing to be “completely blown away” by how the gigs the reunited band have played so far have been received. “It’s difficult to put into words, actually,” said the band’s lyricist. “Every night is the crowd’s first night, so every night’s got that same kind of energy. It’s been truly amazing… I’m not usually short for words, but I can’t really articulate it at the minute.” Asked how he was feeling on July 4 in Cardiff, Wales, when the band were gearing up to take the stage for the first show of a tour pretty much nobody thought would ever happen, Noel said Oasis have never been one of those bands who have a prayerful “huddle” before they go on. That said, speaking just for himself, Noel admitted he, “grossly underestimated what I was getting into… After about five minutes I was like, ‘All right, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again?’ I’ve done stadiums before and all but, but I don’t mind telling you my legs are turned to jelly after about halfway through the second song.” Summing it up, Noel said simply, “it’s been an amazing thing.” Reflecting on the emotional hug the brothers shared at the end of the first reunion show in July, Noel said, “we’re not those kind of guys, really… It’s great just to be back with [guitarist] Bonehead and Liam and just be doing it again. I guess when it’s all said and done we’ll sit and reflect on it, but it’s great being back in a band with Liam. I forgot how funny he was.” Giving his former sibling rival props for sounding great at the shows, Noel said, “Liam’s smashing it. I’m proud of him.” After fronting his own band for the 16 years they were apart — the High Flying Birds — Noel said he knows the pressures of being the lead singer and admitted, “I couldn’t do the stadium thing like he does it…. I kind of look around and I think, ‘You know, good for you, mate.’ He’s been amazing.” Also, in case you were wondering, yes, he’s still getting hit up all the time by mates looking to score the hard-to-get tickets. “When it all started, the ticket sales and all that, there was a few people who I would have expected to [be] looking for tickets who didn’t,” he said. “But after the first gig my phone just exploded.” Saying he feels bad for those who are left outside on the streets singing the band’s songs at top volume after getting shut out on getting tickets, Noel said the showering of love is “mental… it’s more than the band. It’s more than the songs. There’s something else going on that we’ve not quite been able to our fingers on yet. Looking forward, Noel said he’s really looking forward to playing one of the band’s last shows, at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Nov. 15 and 16. “We’ve played there a couple of times and the Argentinians are without doubt in the top five places for us to play in the world.” When Goldstein brought up persistent rumors that the band might be playing the Knebworth Festival next year on the 30th anniversary of their legendary 1996 headlining slot for 250,000 fans over two nights at that event, Noel politely moved right past that query and insisted they get on with the football talk. J.I.D. Talks New Album & Teases His ‘God Does Like World Tours’ Trek

As J.I.D wraps his five-city Dollar & A Dream tour — a warm-up for a larger fall outing — he says his only concern is putting “asses in seats … Just give me 10,000 people a night, 15,000. You would never hear from me again,” he promises. “I would never tweet again. I will never do nothing but drop albums for those people.” On Aug. 8, the Atlanta rapper released his fourth album, God Does Like Ugly — a title inspired by his late grandmother, which debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200. But first, the 34-year-old set the table with an innovative “preluxe” approach; GDLU: The Preluxe contained four songs, including “Animals (Pt. 1)” on which J.I.D goes toe-to-toe with Eminem. For the full-length, J.I.D went back to the archives for an album he mostly crafted alongside 2022’s The Forever Story, with songs dating back to 2018 (sample clearance issues made the creative process “draining”). “You could kind of see the chip, it’s still on my shoulder a little bit,” he says. “But at the same time, I just tried different writing styles and approaches to the music.” A deluxe is also on the way this fall, as J.I.D reveals the GDLU universe could expand to 50 songs when the era’s all said and done (the prelude and album together currently total 20 songs). He’s just waiting on a couple of features, one being a “flute,” which fans hope means an appearance from elusive ATLien André 3000. But for now, he’s preparing to celebrate the album with a global tour, which will include his first headlining arena show in his hometown — the result of steadily building his fanbase over a decade. As J.I.D says: “It’s no skipping steps.” The North American leg of his God Does Like World Tours will see support from Young Nudy on all U.S. dates and kick off on Oct. 15 in Virginia Beach, with stops in Cincinnati, Chicago, Toronto, Seattle, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami and Philadelphia before wrapping in Brooklyn on Dec. 16. J.I.D will then head to Europe in 2026, where Mick Jenkins will serve as special guest while Jordan Ward is slated to provide support on the Australia/New Zealand leg. Asia shows are to be announced at a later date. JID God Does Like World Tours 2025 Courtesy Photo You’re touring intimate venues before your first headlining arena show. How’s that been? That’s all that really matters to me for real, fans and just putting asses in seats, bro. That’s the game I play. I don’t play the stream game, I don’t play the bundles. I just play, “come to the show.” How was linking up with Eminem again? Cool, man. Cool as hell. We got a good rapport. It was the first record I sent him, like, “Yo, you want to get on this?” Bro just sent it back. It was calm. It wasn’t even that much conversation. Bro just rock with me, I guess. It was very simple. Do you have a favorite place that you visited when you performed? South Africa is always crazy. I love African fans like Cape Town and [Johannesburg]. I dropped [2018 second album] DiCaprio 2 when I was in Africa; it was insane. Asian countries, hearing them rap, you can’t beat it. With the project being recorded a few years ago, do you ever go back in and change lyrics you don’t agree with anymore? For sure, [I’ll] change and adjust it. There’s even stuff on there — you know the climate of the industry right now — they gonna think I’m talking about a rap beef. And I made this years ago, before that was even a thing. You said, [‘F–k a rap beef’] on “Community.” I said, “I don’t give a f–k about it.” I remember specifically writing that line and my homie Javante had just passed and s–t was just heavy. I saw the beef and stuff like that, but this is real life. I don’t have time to pander with trying to hurt another man, when I just seen my friend murdered in the worst way. Since The Forever Story, I lost a good eight folks. On “For Keeps,” you allude to having a child. That was your first time talking about him in a song. I ain’t talk about it, I let him talk. I don’t think I’m gonna do like, a whole dad album. Nobody will probably see him. I wasn’t rolling him out. It was just right. I was talking to him one day, playing some music, and then I just asked him a question. He just responded to me [and I’m like], “Yo, you super cool.” How has being a dad been? That changed everything. I’m just like a totally different person. I don’t even know how to explain that, but it just changed my whole foundation of everything. How many tracks are you envisioning for the deluxe? I’ve never did one before. I have so much music left over from this project. And I’m talking about like crazy song that did not make this album right here. So it’s like, can I get these cleared? By the time the GDLU era’s over, it should be like, 50 songs out, bro, it can be that many. It’s so much music that I made just for this era. And then I still got lingering music over from The Forever Story. But this specifically, the villain arc, wherever I am right now … It’s thoughtful. I slowed the pace down a lot on here, you can tell, but it’s a lot of thoughts that came around this, and it’s a lot of religious imagery, conversations. The title will throw you for a loop, but all I’m just talking about is glory to God. I’m a God fearing southern Black man and just dealing with things. That’s all it’s about. I like that people think, “Oh, this is demonic.” I’m really like, “God is good, Jesus is great.” But at the same time, it’s based on my faith. The second song you hear straight preaching, talking about my brother being back in jail, which is a part of the angst that comes with the project because it’s the same person I was talking about on the first album. I didn’t meet that n—a until I was 16. I’m almost 40, n—a. He went back [to jail]. When one person and y’all close like

Fivio Foreign Doesn’t Know Nas’ Catalog Despite Having a Song Together

Fivio Foreign didn’t listen to much Nas growing up. The Brooklyn rapper recently sat down with Jim Jones as the Harlem rapper launches his new YouTube channel IFC Factory and podcast Artist 2 Artist. They were having a conversation about streaming and trying to take advantage of when a moment goes viral before Jones’ situation with Nas earlier this year came up. “I’m not saying that the man is wack or he’s not a legend,” Fivio said after admitting that he grew up listening to Chicago rappers like Chief Keef. “I got a song with the n—a. I got a song on the album and the album got a Grammy, but I can’t sit there and say a Nas bar to you or a song — I like ‘One Mic.’” Explore See latest videos, charts and news Jim then responded by reiterating that he was a Nas fan and can recite bars and name songs from QB legend’s catalog. “That’s what I want the people to know — but I can ‘cause Nas was my era. I came up f—kin’ with Nas. I know the Nas sh—t. But moving forward, I started a whole new era and a whole new genre and a generation of people…I just be doing me.” The convo then shifted to Jim asking Fivio which rappers influenced him the most and again he mentioned Sosa and said he was “infatuated” with the Chicago drill scene. Both rappers found themselves on the wrong side of going viral this year. First, Fivio went viral when he and Lil Tjay got into a situation with rising streamer PlaqueBoyMax over smoking weed in an Airbnb during a livestream. Then, Jim Jones found himself defending his legacy after a college student said on a podcast that the Dipset member was more influential to him than Nas was. Selena Gomez, benny blanco & The Marías’ ‘Ojos Tristes’ Goes No. 1

Four months after its No. 1 debut on Billboard’s inaugural Hot Latin Pop Songs chart, “Ojos Tristes,” by Selena Gomez, benny blanco and The Marias, tops an airplay chart for the first time, as the song jumps 2-1 on the Latin Pop Airplay chart. Explore See latest videos, charts and news “Ojos Tristes” claims the No. 1 spot on Latin Pop Airplay driven by 8.3 million audience impressions, earned in the United States during the Aug. 8-14 tracking week, according to Luminate; that’s a 21% growth from the prior week. “Ojos Tristes” first bowed at No. 1 on the introductory Hot Latin Pop Songs chart (dated April 12) largely fueled by 8.7 million official on-demand U.S. streams. The chart employs the same methodology as the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, where streaming data, airplay audience and digitals sales are included into its formula. During that chart-topping week, the three-way collab also generated 1,000 downloads and retained its spot at the summit on Latin Digital Songs Sales, despite a substantial 40% decline in sales. Now, four months later, “Ojos Tristes” has become the biggest song on Latin pop stations across the U.S. after a 17-week journey to the top. The achievement matches with Farruko’s “Cables Cruzados” (February 22), marking it the longest trek to the top on Latin Pop Airplay in 2025 and the slowest ascent since Carlos Vives and Juanes’ “Las Mujeres” also took 17 weeks to claim the top slot in December 2023. Gomez finds her third leader on the chart, following her featured turn on DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki,” which also features Ozuna and Cardi B (2018) and “Baila Conmigo,” with Rauw Alejandro (2021). As for benny blanco and The Marias, they each claim their first No. 1 on Latin Pop Airplay through “Ojos Tristes,” the fourth single from Gomez’s and blanco’s collaborative project, I Said I Love You First. The set took the pair to a No. 2 debut on the overall Billboard 200 (April 5 list). Building on its success atop the Latin Pop Airplay chart, “Ojos Tristes” makes progress on the overall Latin Airplay chart, where it climbs from No. 6 to No. 3, a new peak. This is Gomez’s highest position on the chart since her No. 1-peaking “Baila Conmigo” in 2021. Returning to where “Ojos Tristes” first began its reign, the song secures a 13th week at No. 1 on Hot Latin Pop Songs. Source link
