Mariah Carey on Anderson .Paak Dating Rumors, Nick Cannon, Mom’s Death

Mariah Carey has been through a lot since she last released an album, from raising her kids with ex-husband Nick Cannon to losing her mom and sister last year. And in a Wednesday (Sept. 24) interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, the pop icon opened up about what her life has been like leading up to the release of her new album, Here for It All. Starting with the deaths of her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, Carey said that even she isn’t sure how she “processed” such major losses after the two women passed away on the same day in August 2024. “I just know that it was extremely difficult for me to navigate, and it was tough, because I have always had an interesting relationship with my mother,” the vocalist told King. “Towards the end, I was with her the whole time,” she added of her mother. “And so I feel better about that. My sister, I hadn’t seen in years. I feel really badly about that as well, but that’s ‘cause I tend to have a guilt complex about everything. But it’s tough. My sister had an extremely hard life.” Carey has been open about how strained her relationship was with her mom, who was the source of much “pain” and “betrayal,” according to the five-time Grammy winner’s 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. When asked whether she was able to make peace with Patricia before her death, Carey told King, “I do.” The singer added, “She said a couple of things to me that were very healing for what I needed.” The sit-down with CBS Mornings comes just two days ahead of Here for It All, which will mark Mimi’s first album since 2018’s Caution. Complete with guest appearances from Shenseea, Kehlani and The Clark Sisters, the LP features production from Anderson .Paak, who also sings on a track titled “Play This Song.” In her interview with King, Carey confirmed that she was the one who first reached out to the “brilliant” Silk Sonic musician — who just so happened to join her around Christmastime last year in Aspen, where the pair were spotted holding hands. Of the dating rumors that swirled as a result, Carey told King, “He just likes to hold my hand.” “He just grabs my hand — I don’t know what he’s doing,” she continued, refusing to confirm the nature of her relationship with .Paak beyond, “It’s something special.” As for one of her former flames, Carey touched on where she stands with a certain Masked Singer host. The couple were married for six years before splitting in 2014, and they now co-parent their twins, Moroccan and Monroe. “I kind of feel like it’s best if I don’t talk about him, because he can just be in his own world,” she told King diplomatically of Cannon. “No offense to him.” Here for It All arrives Friday (Sept. 26). Watch Carey’s full interview with King below. “It’s new Mariah, but still sounds like Mariah, but there’s a little twist to it that makes it a little bit different”: For the first time in seven years, Mariah Carey is releasing a new album, with her 16th studio release, “Here For It All.” The Grammy-winning singer opened up… pic.twitter.com/EVygSoiaeW — CBS Mornings (@CBSMornings) September 24, 2025 Source link

Jason Aldean Covers Luke Bryan Song to Honor Charlie Kirk

Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany, shared a video of themselves covering a Luke Bryan hit to honor late conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. The brief video clip, captioned “For Charlie” and including a heart emoji, features the Aldeans singing Bryan’s somber 2014 hit “Drink a Beer,” with the musician also accompanying on acoustic guitar. “Funny how the good ones go/ Too soon, but the good Lord knows/ The reasons why I guess,” Aldean sings as his wife joins in. “Drink a Beer” was written by Brett Beavers and Chris Stapleton, and spent two weeks atop Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart in 2014. The video also shows a photo of the Aldeans attending the memorial service held for the polarizing conservative activist on Sept. 21 in Glendale, Ariz. The event featured performances from Christian music artists including Chris Tomlin, Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham, and featured speakers including President Donald Trump and Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk. Charlie Kirk, the founder of youth conservative organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on Sept. 10 during a question-and-answer session held at Utah Valley University as part of his group’s The American Comeback Tour. The suspect in the murder, Tyler Robinson, turned himself in to law enforcement about 33 hours after the shooting. He has been charged with aggravated murder and more; prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. Shortly after Kirk’s death, Jason Aldean shared a photo on social media of the couple with Kirk, praising him and sending prayers to his family in the caption. Kanye West’s ‘In Whose Name’ Documentary: 7 Standout Moments

At just 18 years old, aspiring filmmaker Nico Ballesteros was given the opportunity to follow one of the most famous people in the world in Ye (formerly Kanye West). Ballesteros whittled 3,000 hours of footage from about 2018 to 2024 in West’s pocket to a two-hour documentary, In Whose Name?, which is a raw, unflinching look behind the curtain of one of music’s most mercurial, brilliant, polarizing and chaotic acts. The documentary arrived in about 1,000 theaters across the U.S. on Friday (Sept. 19). There’s no shortage of cameos, with appearances from Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, LeBron James, Drake, Chris Rock, Diddy, Rihanna, Elon Musk, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens, Anna Wintour, Virgil Abloh, Playboi Carti, Marilyn Manson and Justin Bieber. In Whose Name is spread out through a prelude — which calls back to super rare archival footage from the 2000s — and three acts, along with a brief epilogue. It’s not meant to paint West in a particular positive or negative light, but more to provide context and a look inside his last six years of turbulence. “We don’t know if we glued together the story,” West says in the doc. “If you’re documenting every almost waking moment and sometimes sleeping moments of my life, and you don’t understand the throughline, then the world’s not going to understand the throughline. It’s just going to look crazy, or it’s going to be one antic to the next antic, the way the media words it.” Ballesteros called the documentary “a revolving door of idolatry.” “I think that’s why I created this project, to understand the human beneath the idol,” the director added to NPR. Fans have been asking themselves “Why, Ye?” plenty of times over the years, and the doc provides some answers as to his thinking when it comes to some of his controversial decision-making — the good, the bad and the ugly. In Whose Name? doesn’t have a major plot line or theme surrounding West as the only thing linear really is the timeline following him, but it’s a worthwhile watch for anyone who is (or was) a fan of the 21-time Grammy Award winner. Here are seven standout moments from In Whose Name. Lady Gaga & LeBron James appear in unearthed archival footage Even the most diehard Ye fans are going to be impressed with the rare archival footage unearthed from the 2000s for the Prelude. Lady Gaga makes a cameo as she’s deep in the planning stages of her Fame Kills tour with West, which was cancelled in 2009 following Ye’s infamous stage interruption of Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards. LeBron James and Ye tag-teamed a September 2007 episode of SNL, with the hooper playing host for the evening and West on performer duties, which came in the midst of the duo’s rise in each’s respective crafts, looking to snatch the crown. James even called Ye the “No. 1 man in the world right now,” as the rapper came off the release of Graduation weeks earlier, while LeBron made his first NBA Finals appearance that June. Ye explains to Playboi Carti why he removed Pusha T from ‘Off the Grid’: ‘Black Lives Matter is worse than the devil’ Pusha T originally had a verse on a reference track to what became “Off the Grid.” While Ye was recording Donda in the Atlanta Falcons’ locker room, Playboi Carti asked him why West didn’t like Pusha’s verse. “I’d rather y’all be like, I’m killing 20 n—s, I’m f—ing this many b—s, I’m doing all this s—t, than y’all saying Black Lives Matter s—t on my s—t,” Ye responded. “Black Lives Matter is like worse than the devil to me, it’s mind control.” Michael Che confronts Ye backstage after 2018 ‘Saturday Night Live’ West made an explosive appearance donning a red MAGA hat on Saturday Night Live in September 2018 in support of his never-released YANDHI album. During his infamous pro-Trump rant to close the show, he called out a certain comic on SNL for talking about Bill Cosby, and that happened to be cast member Michael Che. “You can’t be controlled by monolithic thoughts,” Ye said. “You can’t always have, every time you have a Black subject matter, like [Bill] Cosby, that you have to have a Black comedian talking about him.” Che took issue with West’s comments and confronted him backstage following the show. “I work here. Like, come on, man. We treat everyone that come in like family, and you gonna sell us out? Like, that’s f—ked up, man,” he said. “We look up to you, we love you. What you got against us?” Che continued to berate West: “But airing it out like that without letting us be able to reply is kind of foul. You wait until the last song and then say that foul s–t to us?… You’re a hero to us, man! We love you. Seriously, we love you. But it’s foul to do that.” A studio session with Drake & Lil Dicky Drake pulled up to a Ye studio session circa early 2018, and it’s a sight to behold, with Lil Dicky also present. West kicks a freestyle that impresses the 6 God. “That verse is crazy,” the OVO rapper responded, giving Ye his props. The clip appears to be from the unreleased 500 Days in UCLA documentary that was never released by West’s camp. Months later, Kanye’s relationship with Drake soured following a Wyoming trip, which led to Pusha T’s battle with Drizzy. Ye’s deteriorating marriage to Kim Kardashian The splintering of Kanye’s marriage to Kim Kardashian is apparent throughout the documentary. In 2018, it appears their union really fractured: Following West’s explosive appearance on SNL and controversial visit to the Oval Office, a weeping Kardashian attempts to plead with Ye over the phone. “You’re losing everyone around you,” she claims. “It’s a bad dream… One day you’re going to wake up and have nothing.” Ye wasn’t having any of it. “Never put that

Louis Tomlinson Gives Taste of Sweet New ‘Lemonade’ Single

Louis Tomlinson is feeling sweet, but also a bit bitter. The former One Direction singer appeared to crank up the promo machine for his as-yet-untitled third solo album another notch on Tuesday (Sept. 23) when he dropped a 15-second teaser for the upcoming single “Lemonade.” Explore See latest videos, charts and news The song, due out on Tuesday (Sept. 30), is a soaring pop balloon, with Tomlinson singing, “She’s so bitter, she’s so sweet/ Lemonade, lemonade/ A little taste is all I need/ Lemonade,” over driving drums and a joyful arrangement. The accompanying peek at what looks like the music video, finds Tomlinson — his hair buzzed on the sides and grown out and shaggy on top —  hanging out in a field in front of a towering stack of speakers and a rusted-out old car. The singer has been busy lately teasing the follow-up to his 2022 sophomore LP, Faith in the Future, telling fans earlier this month that the untitled album is nearly complete. “Just sat listening to the new record and I’ve got a really really good feeling this time around!” he wrote on X at the time. “Can’t wait for you all to hear it!!” Faith in the Future featured the singles “Bigger Than Me,” “Out of My System” and “Silver Tongues,” and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart, while giving Tomlinson his first No. 1 on the UK albums chart. At press time no title or release date have been announced for Tomlinson’s third LP, though he has some upcoming gigs where fans are hoping he’ll debut other new songs. In fact, when one commenter expressed frustration at the lack of information on the album earlier this month, Tomlinson teased, “or maybe I’m going to play something new at away from home,” following up with, “it’s about time isn’t it” and “Really really excited about it! Got a few surprises. Should be fun.” Tomlinson will be among the headliners at the upcoming New York edition of his Away From Home Festival (Oct. 4-5) at Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, where he’ll appear alongside his personally curated list of fellow performers, including Lauv, Steve Aoki, Plain White T’s, Daya, Circa Waves, Pale Waves and others. He will also take part in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month on Oct. 29, where guests typically perform one of their own songs as well as a cover song. Check out the “Lemonade” preview clip below.
