Halsey’s ‘BADLANDS’ Top 10 on Five Album Charts After Reissue

Halsey’s full-length debut album BADLANDS is back in the top 10 on multiple Billboard album charts following its 10th anniversary reissue. The 2015 set was reissued on Aug. 29 in multiple deluxe formats and reenters the top 10 on Top Album Sales (No. 5), Top Alternative Albums (No. 6), Vinyl Albums (No. 4), Catalog Albums (No. 9) and debuts in the top 10 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums (No. 7). Explore See latest videos, charts and news All versions of the album, old and new, are combined for tracking and charting purposes. In the tracking week ending Sept. 4, BADLANDS earned 17,000 equivalent album units in the United States, of which nearly 12,000 are in traditional album sales (about 9,000 in vinyl purchases). BADLANDS is one of three reentries in the top 10 on the Top Album Sales chart, joined by Sabrina Carpenter’s emails i can’t send (No. 6) and Charli xcx’s how i’m feeling now (No. 8). Meanwhile, the only debut in the region is Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend at No. 1. Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Pure album sales were the sole measurement utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album (TEA) units and streaming equivalent album (SEA) units. At No. 1 on Top Album Sales, Man’s Best Friend arrives with 224,000 sold in its first week (the third-largest sales week of 2025 and Carpenter’s best sales week ever). Stray Kids’ KARMA falls to No. 2 (with 53,000, down 82%) after debuting atop the list a week ago. The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack climbs 5-3 (15,000, down 19%), Deftones’ private music dips 3-4 in its second week (13,000, down 80%) and emails i can’t send reenters at No. 6 (11,000, up 1,766% after a new vinyl variant was released). Laufey’s A Matter of Time falls 2-7 in its second week (11,000, down 84%), Charli xcx’s how i’m feeling now reenters at No. 8 (9,500, up 2,613% following the release of a fifth anniversary color vinyl variant), KATSEYE’s Beautiful Chaos surges 20-9 (9,000, up 81% following a restock of certain editions of the album at retail) and Carpenter’s chart-topping Short n’ Sweet jumps 30-10 (9,000, up 115% in the wake of Man’s Best Friend’s arrival).   Source link

The camp, which will take place Jan. 29-Feb. 1, 2026, will also include The Who’s Simon Townshend. Daltrey has joined the camp six times previously, but not for the last 15 years. “I love it because it reminds you of where you came from,” Daltrey says. “It’s about having fun!” “It’s an honor to celebrate 30 years of Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp with Roger Daltrey,” says David Fishof, founder of the camp. “This camp is about inspiring musicians and giving fans an opportunity to share the stage with their heroes. The camps are open to musicians of all levels, who are evaluated beforehand to make sure they are placed in the appropriate band. The Who are currently on its The Song Is Over-North American Farewell Tour, which concludes Sept. 28 in Las Vegas. Source link

Nelly Buying Fake Grill He Thought Paul Wall Made Led to ‘Grillz’

What would rap be without iced-out grills? New York City jeweler Eddie Plein is often credited with inventing the gold grill as we know it back in the ’80s. His early handiwork was most notably sported by Bronx rapper Just-Ice on the album cover of his sophomore project Kool & Deadly released in 1987. Plein then took his Eddie’s Famous Gold Teeth operation south to Virginia, then finally settling in Atlanta, where the gold grill has become a Southern staple. During the early 2000s, Paul Wall and his business partner Johnny Dang picked up where Famous Eddie left off and took the gold grill to another level, with the duo still being the go-to jewelers for custom grills nearly two decades later. Wall sat down with The Art of Dialogue recently and told a story about how he ended up on Nelly‘s hit record “Grillz” and revealed it all started with the St. Louis rapper getting tricked into purchasing a custom grill that he thought was made by Dang. The Houston rapper explained that he received a call from T.I. while the Atlanta rapper was on tour with Nelly and told Wall, “Yeah, man, I see my boy Nelly got a grill from you.” However, he recalled being “confused, ’cause I’m like, ‘Man, I never met Nelly a day in my life. I’d love to make him a grill,’” and asked Tip what he was talking about. He then explained that it was a jealous rapper that was trying to creep into his and Johnny’s grill business that sold one to Nelly. “‘You want a Paul Wall grill? Yeah I’ll get you a Paul Wall grill. A Johnny? I’ll get you a Johnny grill,’” he said of other rappers that were also trying to sell grills during that period. “What they mean is the Paul Wall-style grill or a Johnny-style grill. So that essentially is what happened. It was another person who was selling grills who basically went to Nelly and was like, ‘Hey, wanna get you some Paul Wall grills?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, I want some Paul Wall grills,’ and they got him some grills but they weren’t Paul Wall grills. It was in the similar style, but they weren’t the same.” Eventually, Wall ran into the St. Lunatics at a hotel in New York, who then put him in touch with Nelly after learning that his grill wasn’t made by Johnny Dang. He then said they decided to gift him a custom grill so he could see the difference between their work and the competition. “It was a helluva investment, because, let me tell you, that was hands down the most expensive grill we made to that point and it was a walking billboard, and as soon as Nelly got his grill he was like, ‘Hey, I love my grill. I got this song I’m doing. You wanna get on it?’” And the rest, as they say, is history. “Grillz” hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100, was nominated for best rap performance as a duo or group at the 2007 Grammys and further popularized the dental jewelry, making a custom grill from Paul Wall and Johnny Dang a must-have status symbol. Melanie Santiler & Cimafunk’s ‘Ese Besito’ Voted Best New Latin Music

Melanie Santiler and Cimafunk’s “Ese Besito” has topped Billboard’s latest new Latin music poll, published on Friday (Sept. 5). In support of the weekly New Music Latin roundup and playlist, curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors, music fans voted for the Cuban artists collaboration as their favorite music release of the week. “Ese Besito” generated more than 86% of the vote, beating out other new releases, including Grupo Firme and Grupo Frontera’s “Modo Dificil”; Milo J’s “Bajo de la Piel”; Ela Taubert and Jay Wheeler’s “No Supiste Cuidarnos”; and Sech’s “Novio No.” Meanwhile, “Fan de mi Caracter” by Dale Pututi, Nesty, and Wow Poppy was a favorite close second in the weekly poll. Explore See latest videos, charts and news The song is a breezy tune that fuses Latin afrobeat with Caribbean funk and hints of Cuban reparto — giving the musical genre that derives from the barrios in Cuba an edgy twist. Co-produced by Javier Sampedro, DJ Conds, Drumglass, and Yoyi Lagarza, with mixing by Jefry Lozano, the flirty and packed with Cuban slang, “Ese Besito,” laces newcomer Santiler’s sugary voice with Cimafunk’s groovier vocals. “That’s why give me that little kiss/ That you owe me for a while now/ If you try me, why should I explain/ I’ll apply a killer psychology to you,” goes the seductive chorus. “Ese Besito” arrives on the heels of Santiler’s viral “Todo Se Supera” in collaboration with Velito El Bufón, which has garnered over 3.7 million views on YouTube in a month. ‘It Was So Weird to See’

Everyone needs a loyal friend like SZA. The Grammy-winning singer has come to the defense of her close friend, Lizzo, after multiple harassment lawsuits were filed against the “Truth Hurts” singer. Lizzo graced the cover of the latest issue of New York magazine on Monday (Sept. 8), which featured SZA throwing her full support behind Lizzo, while calling out those who turned their back on the Detroit native following the lawsuits. “It was so weird to watch everybody attack her because it actually had nothing to do with what was going on,” SZA said. She continued to credit the work Lizzo did on herself: “I think what’s special about my friend is she is a master healer. She is always going to get to the bottom of herself. Nobody cleared her name for her. Nobody could give her that vindication; she gave it to herself. I just felt like she 100 percent genie’d herself through that.” Lizzo was hit with a pair of lawsuits by ex-staffers in 2023. A former wardrobe designer, Asha Daniels, accused the singer of harassment and discrimination, but Lizzo was dismissed from the suit. A trio of back-up dancers also filed a similar harassment suit against Lizzo, which includes accusations of disability discrimination and false imprisonment, and remains active. SZA and Lizzo teamed up earlier in 2025 on the 37-year-old’s My Face Hurts From Smiling mixtape, and previously joined forces on the “Special” remix in 2023. Lizzo also popped out at a pair of shows on SZA and Kendrick Lamar’s Grand National Tour. During the rest of the interview, Lizzo also touched on her shelved Love in Real Life album, which fans shouldn’t expect anytime soon. “I sat down at the table and I said, ‘I need to do s—t my way starting from now. And I need y’all to have my back. It’s going to be a little scary,’” she said of the album she mostly penned in 2022. “And everybody agreed. And they said, ‘We got your back, whatever you need.’” Get weekly rundowns straight to your inbox Sign Up Source link

Talks Whether She Wants More Kids

As a guest on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Cardi B opened up about motherhood and her desire to have more kids. In a clip from the full interview — which premieres Sept. 15 — Cardi kicks off her talk-show appearance by speaking about how she keeps her family grounded and whether she’d consider having more kids down the line. “They have a lot of cousins, and a lot of my friends, they still outside, they still in the ‘hood,” the current Billboard cover star said in regards to how she keeps her kids grounded despite their wealth. “They was just in the Dominican Republic and it was like, ‘Yeah, my grandma gonna make you clean,’ you know what I’m sayin’? And I want them to know there’s another world out there that is not your world. That’s not always about backyards and foxes and deers. There’s rats and mices.” She went on to say that her kids love going to visit their cousins back in the Bronx and said she plans to have more kids. “Yes,” Cardi confidently said. “The more kids you have, the less of a possibility you go to a home. One of them is gonna wipe my butt!” Cardi is just one of the many memorable guests set to appear on The Jennifer Hudson Show for its fourth season. Mariah Carey, Teyana Taylor, Regina Hall, mgk, Simon Cowell, Marlon Wayans, Reneé Rapp, Jessica Simpson, Josh Duhamel and others will also sit down to talk with Hudson this season. Cardi B’s latest conversation comes as she gets ready to drop off her Am I the Drama? project on Sept. 19. Check out the clip of Cardi B below. Seth Troxler & Bill Patrick ‘Flirting With Friendship’ Podcast Lauches

DJs and longtime friends Seth Troxler and Bill Patrick have launched a new podcast focused on freewheeling conversations with each other and a weekly guest. Out now on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, Flirting With Friendship is an hourlong, video-forward podcast in which the pals, artists and known arbiters of cool tell stories, riff on current affairs and generally express themselves. The show is filmed late night in the living room of Troxler’s parents’ house in Ibiza. Watch the trailer below. Guests for the series will include a discipline-spanning collection of DJs, visual artists, designers and other creative luminaries including Roisin Murphy, Damian Lazarus, Felipe Pantone, John Acquaviva, Chris Korda, Miranda Makaroff & Pascal Moscheni, George Stavro, Marcello Burlon and DJ Tennis. Out now, the first episode serves as a tone-setter with a conversation from Troxler and Patrick on their own. A statement about Flirting With Friendship declares it to be a reflection of the hosts’ “vision of positive masculinity and a shift toward curating culture in new formats that champion curiosity, community and connection in ways that extend past the dance floor.” The show has a constellation’s worth of star creators on its crew. Flirting With Friendship is produced by Nikita Stanley, the writer and co-founder of the book and mom blog The Rebel Mama, Jesse Rogg, who is also the show’s creative director, president of indie record label StrataSonic and owner of Los Angeles’ Mack Sennett Studios and Craig Pettigrew, who’s also behind events company Future Primitive and is a founder of BPM Festival. Set design is by Veronica Gessa, the multimedia installation artist also known as mokibaby who’s behind Miami’s Club Space and III Points. Award-winning cinematographer Lukas Strebel, whose credits include Black Mirror, is the show’s director of photography. “Friendships are funny, our life is based on connections. In many ways those connections determine who we are,” says Troxler. “At some point meeting new friends or opening up to existing friends becomes more rare the older you get. Flirting with Friendship is about breaking down that barrier. Bill and I have been friends for nearly 20 years. We love each other but also drive each other crazy. Real friends are people that no matter their flaws you’re still interested and invested. I hope our relationship is something other people enjoy as much as we do. We’re flawed and we love each other, but chance is you are too.. and maybe just maybe you’ll come to love us as well.” “I didn’t really have a choice when it came to doing this show,” adds Patrick. “I was told, ‘We’re doing a podcast,’ and I blindly went along with it. That’s the kind of trust (or poor judgment) that comes with being friends with someone for a long time. This show isn’t about teaching you how to be a better person. It’s about proving you’re not the only one with questionable life choices and friends who never let you forget them. If nothing else, you’ll get to hear Seth and me roast, annoy, and occasionally appreciate each other in real time. And if you end up liking us? Well, that’s your problem.” Source link

Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Man’s Best Friend’ Debut: Five Burning Questions

Just 11 months after she last occupied it, Sabrina Carpenter returns to the top spot of the Billboard 200 this week with her new album, the Aug. 29-released Man’s Best Friend. Explore See latest videos, charts and news The new set, her follow-up to 2024’s four-week Billboard 200 No. 1 Short n’ Sweet, claims pole position with an impressive 366,000 units moved, according to Luminate — a slightly higher number than its predecessor bowed with (362,000). In addition, it notches all 12 of its tracks in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, with two — the No. 3-entering “Tears,” and the No. 4-rebounding “Manchild” (which previously debuted at No. 1) — making the top five. How should Carpenter feel about her first-week performance? And what would he advise her to do for the rest of the year? Billboard staffers answer these questions and more below. 1. Sabrina Carpenter debuts atop the Billboard 200 this week with Man’s Best Friend, posting 366,000 first-week units — up a tiny bit from the first-week performance of last year’s Billboard 200-besting Short n’ Sweet (362,000 units). On a scale from 1-10, how excited should Carpenter and her team be with that performance? Eric Renner Brown: 7. Man’s Best Friend‘s first-week figures didn’t blow Short n’ Sweet‘s out of the water – probably a small disappointment for Carpenter and her team, given how inescapable she has been for the past year – but they did maintain her 2024 effort’s success, and without being buoyed by two massive pre-release hits like Short n’ Sweet was. The stat I’d be most excited about were I in Carpenter’s camp: Man’s Best Friend clocked the ninth-best vinyl sales week in the modern era (dating back to 1991); only one of the albums ahead of her on that tally is by an artist not named Taylor Swift. That accomplishment demonstrates her fan base’s passion – and her team’s release strategy savvy. Lyndsey Havens: 10. Sabrina’s trajectory right now is what I imagine every pop star dreams of — whenever it happens. To quote the Hot 100’s current champion, Sabrina keeps going up “up, up, up” and it’s a joy to watch as a longtime fan. Especially because it seems that she’s having the most fun of us all. And I think it’s in part because she has mastered striking while the iron is hot; she figured out what works and feels best for her and her audience and has consistently delivered exactly that ever since. And makes it look easy. Jason Lipshutz: An 8. Sure, it would have been nice to rival the biggest debuts of the year so far by The Weeknd and Morgan Wallen, but Man’s Best Friend squeaking by the bow of Short n’ Sweet, when its predecessor had a more plentiful collection of hits upon its release, is beyond impressive. Sabrina Carpenter has reached a level in which every new album is a pop event, but returning so quickly after a blockbuster album and scoring an even bigger debut demonstrates just how firmly she’s planted herself on the A-list. Joe Lynch: Nine. Both the overall total and trad album sales numbers for MBF are up from SNS, which is, on face value, A Good Thing. I especially think it’s a win considering SNS benefitted from the juggernaut that was “Espresso,” one of the most ubiquitous, undying hits of the 2020s. For MBF to do even marginally better without a comparable era-defining song boosting the streams is a big win. Andrew Unterberger: An 8.5. Given the short layover and relative lack of advance hits compared to its predecessor, I think anything within range of Short n’ Sweet would’ve been just fine for Sabrina Carpenter, but to actually squeak by the original’s first-week tally is a big win. And to do it mostly in album sales (but with a still-robust number of streams) — I mean, it’s all what you want if you’re looking to do this thing for a long time. 2. “Tears” is the top-performing song from the new set, debuting at No. 3 on the Hot 100 — and it just received a spotlight performance at Sunday night’s VMAs. Does the song feel like a long-term hit, akin to “Taste” on the last album, or do you think it will have a shorter shelf-life?  Eric Renner Brown: Sure! It’s at least as catchy, if not moreso, than “Manchild,” “Taste” and “Please Please Please” (“Espresso” is, of course, the GOAT). Another factor that could add to the disco-pop song’s longevity: It sounds tailored to pop off on dancefloors. Lyndsey Havens: I actually think “Tears” could have longer-term success than “Taste,” especially following her VMAs performance — which has already become a cultural reference point. While I love “Taste,” I’m personally more all-in on “Tears” because I feel like it shows a glimmer of why Man’s Best Friend is in fact an evolution for the pop star. Despite the title and raunchy opening line — which we’ve come to expect from Sab Carp following Short n’ Sweet — the song is about a man being respectful and responsible, whereas “Taste” played up the opposite. “Tears” is just getting started, and with such a strong showing so far, I could see it hanging around the top of the chart for a long while.  Jason Lipshutz: Yep, this is the “Taste” of this album cycle: new single released concurrently with the album, with a music video featuring a major film star, and the type of uptempo, innuendo-laden pop track that would have been nice to have this summer, but we will embrace for the fall. “Tears” sounds like another big hit for Sabrina, and is functioning like one on streaming services; maybe it dips a bit from its No. 3 debut, but I’d expect it to stick around the top 10 through Pumpkin Spice season. Joe Lynch: Both. Like “Taste,” the song is a grower, and that VMAs turn should help boost it back up on streaming and radio. I see
