Taylor Swift’s ‘New Heights’ Episode Breaks YouTube Podcast Record

Pop’s biggest showgirl put on one of YouTube’s biggest shows Wednesday, with Taylor Swift pulling in a record-high amount of live viewers with her debut on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. As announced by YouTube on Friday (Aug. 15), the superstar’s guest appearance on the sports and lifestyle show was simultaneously watched by millions of people, peaking at 1.3 million concurrent livestream viewers. That’s more than any other podcast has garnered since the platform launched a “dedicated podcast experience in 2023,” the company shared. “I mean this video being 1.3 million views is the epitome of numerology,” the elder Kelce wrote on X of the show, referencing Swift’s famous lucky number 13 and their discussion of numeric musical Easter Eggs on the podcast. It’s not the only huge number the special New Heights installment achieved Wednesday: Spotify reported that the episode had become one of this past year’s highest-performing podcasts within just one day of its release, increasing the show’s female viewership by more than 600%. Though certainly impressive, it’s clear why so many fans were interested in tuning in to Swift’s guest episode. In addition to opening up about her romance with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, finishing up her historic Eras Tour and reclaiming her masters, the 14-time Grammy winner shared details about new album The Life of a Showgirl on New Heights, including its cover, tracklist and release date. “[The album is] a lot more upbeat, and it’s a lot more fun pop excitement,” Swift said of the album on the show, noting that the LP is a “behind the scenes” look into her personal life during her Eras trek. “My main goals were melodies that were so infectious, you’re almost angry at it … We’ve made songs that I’m so proud of.” Check out Swift’s record-smashing New Heights episode above. Best New Latin Music This Week Poll

This week, Billboard’s New Music Latin roundup and playlist — curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — features fresh new music, including releases by Carlos Vives and Grupo Niche, Zoé, iLe, and Camila Fernández, to name a few. Vives’ 1990s classic, “La Tierra del Olvido,” gets a breathe of fresh air thanks to his new collaboration with Grupo Niche. “We were able to bring that message into another musical universe: salsa,” Vives said in a statement about the collab with the iconic salsa group from Colombia. “It’s a celebration of who we are as Colombians, our diversity, and our cultural richness.” Meanwhile, Zhamira Zambrano dabbles in bolero in “Quisiera Ella,” a poignant single about resilience and self-love. “Since I was little, I’ve loved boleros, and I wanted to explore beyond pop and tropical music,” Zambrano explained in a press release. “The bolero allows emotions to be expressed in a more romantic and powerful way.” Other new releases this week include music from Ryan Castro and Grupo Frontera, Jasiel Nuñez, and Isabela Merced. Diferente Nivel and Carolina Ross’ “No Soy Tu Prioridad” won Billboard‘s latest Latin music poll with more than 41% of the vote. Which release this week do you think is best? Chance The Rapper’s ‘Star Line’: All 17 Tracks Ranked

After six years away from the mic, Chance the Rapper is finally back with his second full-length, Star Line. The project, which is Chance’s first official album since 2019’s The Big Day, arrives years after Chance first announced it back in 2022. And it delivers: Star Line is packed with great features, including from Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Joey Bada$$, BabyChiefDoIt, Jay Electronica and more. According to a press release, Star Line explores “Chance’s global journey, artistically, spiritually and physically, over the past six years. Created with longtime producer DexLvL and shaped by travels to Ghana, Jamaica and art fairs around the world, Star Line blends hip-hop, soul and experimental sounds with lyrical meditations on identity, resilience and legacy. While Chance has circled the globe in search of new perspectives, the project remains grounded in the worldview that has always defined his art: a deep, unshakable connection to Chicago and to Black culture across the diaspora.” Chance’s debut album, The Big Day, included just as many high-profile collaborators, such as John Legend, Death Cab for Cutie, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes and more. While The Big Day reached No. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, the album was divisive among critics and fans, increasing the hype ten fold around Star Line and Chance’s musical return. So, with Star Line finally out in the world, how does it sound? Read below for Billboard‘s ranking of each track on Chance The Rapper’s new album. “Link Me In The Future” “Link Me To the Future” traverses similar themes to other songs on Star Line. The track twinkles and glides along, but stays in the air for a little too long for listeners to really grasp onto Chance’s bars. “Just a Drop” (Feat. Jay Electronica) Over a slow and wavering beat that feels almost like “Acid Rain” part two, Chance sings and raps with a soulful velocity that Jay Electronica compliments perfectly. The only issue? Jay once again traverses troubling religious territory with his bars, ones that could reinvigorate claims of antisemitism against him. “Pretty” After an album filled with celebratory songs about the obstacles he’s overcome, “Pretty” is just Chance celebrating his devilish good looks — because, why not? “I’m pretty, the mirror’s got a crush/And I get a rush when I see my face,” he croons. “Space & Time” Chance again appears to address the fallout caused by the reception to The Big Day, and admits earnestly that he’s not sure where he fits in the current cultural landscape. It’s a powerful diary entry for the rapper who earnestly examines his desire to return to his art and his fans. “I’ve been gone awhile, and I’m not so proud/If there’s still some space for me/I was hoping I could fit,” he sings. “Burn Ya Block” Scattered amidst an album filled with complex lyricism, “Burn Ya Block” is the only song on Star Line that seems to be solely dedicated to just having a good time. “Don’t just walk, baby, sashay/’Cause when you sashay, girl, your ass shake,” Chance raps. Lyrics as lighthearted as these are a welcomed breather from the self-examination of the rest of the project. “The Highs & The Lows” (Feat. Joey Bada$$) When heard within the context of Star Line, “The Highs & The Lows” delivers a stronger impact than it did as a standalone single in 2022. In terms of theme, the track seamlessly aligns with Star Line‘s focus on reflection and personal growth. Joey and Chance trade verses like two close friends deeply immersed in a heartfelt conversation about life over a cup of coffee. “No More Old Men” (Feat. Jamila Woods) After the positivity of “Ride,” “No More Old Men” feels like Chance officially stepping into his new Star Line era. The bars are more introspective, the harsh realities of adulthood clouding the good vibes Chance fans know and love him for. It’s a proper evolution for the Chicago rapper, who spits soulful bars about the state of his hometown and the state of the culture. Jamila Woods swoops in for a haunting hook to pull it all together. “Speed of Light” (Feat. Lion Babe, BJ The Chicago Kid) Chance turns a sexy drill beat on its head into a meditative reflection on his past failures and current successes on “Speed of Light.” “Made it out the dark and I ain’t never going back,” Chance cheers. BJ The Chicago Kid and Lion Babe add more joyful energy to the track, which sonically explores different territory for Chance. “Star Side Intro” “It’s time to make that noise again” Chance declares on Star Line‘s intro track. This celebratory song is a compelling appetizer for whats to come, as the Chicago rapper reminds his fans that he can still pack a lot of info into a few bars. “The three went platinum, the one went diamond/I had a F-minus, but that’s behind us/My pen on paper worth millions of dollars,” Chance spits, likely referring to the shortcomings of his debut The Big Day. Star Line‘s intro commemorates this new chapter in Chance’s life, and is a fun snapshot of the good vibes to come. “Back to the Go” (Feat. Vic Mensa) Vic Mensa and Chance the Rapper have always made great music together, and that sentiment remains very true on the first listen through of “Back to the Go.” Both rappers are the kings of self-examination, and in that regard are locked in here as they trade bars about growth and human error. “I fall on my face sometimes/I look at myself, I cry sometimes/I need a lil space myself,” Chance sings. “Gun In Yo Purse” (Feat. Young Thug) When Chance finally lands after the seemingly endless free fall of “Link Me in the Future,” he busts through the door with “Gun In Yo Purse.” Young Thug’s verse is unexpectedly subdued, given his penchant for wild, high-octave flexing. While that energy might have complemented the track perfectly, Chance and TiaCorine pack a

Pooh Shiesty Shares Photos and Message to Fans From Prison

Pooh Shiesty gave fans an update as he serves a five-year sentence for a gun conspiracy conviction. The Memphis rapper posted three photos on his Instagram on Thursday along with a lengthy caption expressing gratitude to his fans and supporters. “Aye mane say mane that’s how you walk that lil t down,” he wrote. “[Shout-out] to all the ones who counted me down and not out, the support and love i received on this roller-coaster is unmatched, S/O to all the good men i stomped the yard with like chris brown.” He then added some words for the handful of artists who have true credibility in his eyes while sending a message to the streets about not snitching and doing time for the crime. “S/O to the other selected few rappers who name hold weight in these fed walls,” he said. “Dear streets, use me as a example of what ‘keeping it solid and standing on wax’ look like. now nobody can fool you or tell you different, Ain never going, Ain never went! i stamp it! im rich as i ever been lit as i ever been! And he may be coming home soon as the judge already credited him for one year time served because he was in custody while awaiting sentencing and his five-year sentence can be reduced to three and a half years for good behavior, according to Rolling Stone. Cardi B Opens Up About ‘Very Personal’ Chapter of Life

This year has brought about plenty of change in Cardi B’s life, and she’s embracing her new chapter, which she says is “very personal.” Cardi candidly opened up about life these days in an Instagram Story on Thursday, as she heads into the release of her Am I the Drama? sophomore album. “This chapter in my life is very personal to me,” she wrote. “I’ve proven people wrong over and over again and it’s time to prove that to point to myself again.” The IG Story post was soundtracked by Jay-Z’s “Imaginary Players,” which Cardi heavily samples in her “Imaginary Playerz” single, which arrived on Friday (Aug. 15). The 32-year-old also released a lavish visual to the single, which finds Cardi turning the tarmac into a fashion show runway, before heading to Paris to indulge in the luxuries of Europe and a relaxing yacht day at sea. Earlier this week, Cardi revealed she received Jay-Z’s stamp of approval for “Imaginary Playerz.” “If he didn’t approve it, I probably wouldn’t even feel a certain type of way neither, because it’s like, ‘OK, maybe I just had to come a little bit harder,’” she said. “But I’m glad that I came hard and he loved it.” After filing for divorce from Offset for a second time in 2024, Cardi has embraced a new relationship with NFL star Stefon Diggs, and the couple seems to be going strong as the summer wraps up. “Imaginary Playerz” follows “Outside” as Cardi gears up to release her anticipated sophomore album, with Am I the Drama? set to arrive on Sept. 19. Halsey’s Fan-Favorite ‘Badlands’ Tracks Get Music Video 10 Years Later

Halsey fans, it’s time to dust off your blue wigs. The singer is revisiting two fan-favorite Badlands tracks a full decade after their original release, announcing Friday (Aug. 15) that she’ll soon be releasing a double feature music video for “Drive” and “Gasoline.” In a video teaser for the project posted on Instagram, Halsey appears in their signature light blue hair from the 2015 Badlands era, looking solemn while driving in a pink convertible through familiar, grungey terrain. At one point, the musician appears in a bikini as a pink hue saturates the screen; in another shot, she runs dramatically through an apartment hallway while all the lights flicker. “10 YEARS LATER …,” reads text on screen. “WE NEVER LEFT.” In the caption, Halsey announced, “GASOLINE and DRIVE double feature. coming soon.” The news comes almost exactly 10 years after the New Jersey native dropped their debut album on Aug. 28, 2015, quickly breaking through as one of pop’s shiniest new stars. The project debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawned some of Halsey’s most quintessential singles to date, including “Colors” and “New Americana.” And while Halsey has released four albums since — including 2024’s The Great Impersonator — Badlands has always held a special place in her heart. In 2020, the hitmaker celebrated the five-year anniversary of the album by releasing their first-ever live album, Badlands (Live From Webster Hall). “It’s been a little surreal to watch the perception of the album evolve so drastically over time,” Halsey wrote on X on the album’s eighth anniversary in 2023. “But. I always knew what it was. Special. If you were there for the journey, I love you. You changed my life.” In addition to celebrating a decade of Badlands, the star is currently fresh off of touring in support of Great Impersonator (although the nightly setlist often changed and featured songs from Halsey’s past albums). The artist had been slated to perform a final show in Istanbul on Aug. 28, but recently canceled the performance while citing logistical issues. “your safety is the most important thing to me,” Halsey explained Friday on X, addressing upset fans who were planning to go to the canceled show. “you guys are crazy sometimes + put yourselves in ‘I don’t care’ situations like camping in dangerous places, or not drinking water all day. and I know it’s bc you’d do anything for the music. but there are other moments where I have to draw the line cause I care about you ok? We’re gonna make it right when we can, and I can be sure this won’t happen again.” Source link

The Week’s Best New Dance Songs

This week in dance music: the king Kaytranada released his fourth studio album Ain’t No Damn Way, a project he says is one that’s “strictly for workouts, dancing and studying and for my people that love beats.” We caught up with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who talked about her new album and the recent renaissance of her 2001 single “Murder on the Dancefloor.” “Thanks to ‘Murder,’ I basically just wrote a wish list,” she says in the story, “and I completely took advantage of the fact that I could then get in the studio with people who maybe might not have [otherwise] had time.” Meanwhile, disco queen Gloria Gaynor was named as one of the Kennedy Center’s 2025 honorees, a distinction that The View’s Ana Navarro urged Gaynor to turn down, writing that “the woman is a goddess and deserves all the flowers that come her way. But I wish she wouldn’t accept an award from the hands of a man who has attacked the rights and history of women, people of color and LGBTQ.” Charli xcx praised Addison Rae in a new Billboard cover story about the latter artist, the CEO of Burning Man offered an update on the organization’s current financial picture of the event in Nevada later this month, Mau P and Seth Troxler lead the lineup for Day Zero 2026, Bob Moses announced their fourth studio album is coming this fall, Demi Lovato returned to the dance charts with her single “Fast” and Meduza, Nightmares on Wax and Booka Shade were listed on the lineup for Iceland’s Eclipse Festival happening during a total solar eclipse next August. Riva Starr, Hyperloop, Carl Cox & Eliza Rose, “Shake the Nation” A quartet of greats unite for the techno thumper “Shake the Nation,” a peaktime banger from Italy’s beloved Riva Starr, living legend Carl Cox, club queen Eliza Rose and rising UK artist Hyperloop, who writes that the track came together when he and Rose linked in an East London studio and came up with “a groovy but heavy track, which I road tested in Chicago and few other places. The reaction was crazy, but I felt like the track could use a little extra oomph, so called my good friend Carl Cox to add his flavor to the song. “Fast forward to last week at Defected Croatia, myself and Eliza linked up to premiere it live on the Beach Stage, and it went OFF” Hyperloop continues. “One of my favorite things about dance music is the collaborative element, and this song just came together so organically.” “Shake the Nation” is out on Factory 93. Even though August is only halfway over, it’s already shaping up to be a month of big releases — but which one is your favorite of the week? Cardi B leads the charge with the release of “Imaginary Playerz,” the latest taste of her upcoming album Am I the Drama? that the rapper accompanied with a luxury-packed music video. The fiery track finds the Bronx native in true form, flexing her riches and it-girl status while boasting, “Fixin’ y’all mouth to talk fashion with me/ I’m the one who showed these girls what fashion could be.” Also in the hip-hop world, Chance the Rapper released Star Line, finally giving fans a new album after a six-year wait. The 17-track effort features collaborations with Lil Wayne, Young Thug and Jazmine Sullivan, making for a star-studded follow-up to the Chicago icon’s 2019 LP The Big Day.
